Dessert OK Feb 24, 2013

Today we were in the mood of having a cold dessert; I wanted something very cold and sweet like an ice kacang. I had decided to try something different, like order from a different instead of the usual stall. I had passed by this stall many times. Most of the time when I was there I will zoom to my favorite stall.

The assortment of ingredients included in the ice kacang is quite a handful considering the price. I can taste chin chow, jelly, attap seed and red beans. The price of this ice kacang $1.50.

Sambal Chiacken rice OK Feb 24, 2013

I had been to Maxwell food center many times. Passed by this stall many times did not stop to take a look as there were many other nice food stalls around. But most popular were either having long queue or closed. I noticed that this food recently that this food center had been attracting a lot of Japanese tourist lately.

This stall actually sells fried chicken rice cooked in many styles. Like Penyat ayam, plain chicken rice, sambal chicken rice etc etc. I choose the sambal chicken rice, I should say for $4.00 the portion of the chick was generous inclusive the sambal sauce. The chicken had already been fried for a while, when I ordered the chicken was not hot. The sambal was too spicy for me to handle. Overall it makes a quick and fast meal.

Was at Maxwell food center and the signboard caught my eyes. Looking at the display of the food on the signboard gets me hungry. I ordered the Soto Ayam. The food was served in the styrofoam bowl and plastic fork and spoon. The bowl cost $3.00 with bergedil aka mash potato cost anotehr 50 cents. It comes with 4 pieces of longtong, shredded chicken, bean sprouts and spring onions. The soup very salty which I don't like.

Front

Front

Maxwell market food centre had closed for renovation for almost 3 months. When news of re-opening was reported, I took the opportunity to dine there since I had some errands to do around the area.

When I was walking around to checkout for the stalls noticed this was a long queue. Being typical Singaporean I decided to join in as well. The best selling dish based on my observation was the mixed grilled. Unfortunately didn't get to try it this time round as it was sold out. Ordered the next dish on the list pork cutlet.

It was well grilled till golden brown and goes well with the sauce. I had thought that the bread given was to dip with the sauce, until I had to removed it for eating only then I found there's a cube of butter hidden underneath like a hidden treasure. Of course like other western it will come with fries and mixed vegetables.

My 1st experience with Ramen OK Nov 05, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Ramen | Kids-Friendly

This is the first time I stepped into a ramen restaurant. I ordered a cha su miso ramen while my friend had Yakiniku Don. We paid $26.70 after taxes without drinks. They served plain water.

A bowl of curly noodles in thick broth, topped with a few slices of cha shu (pork loin), bamboo shoots and garnished with some leeks and seaweed. The cha shu was very tasty and tender, it melts in your mouth but the soup is too thick and salty for my liking.

The Yakiniku Don is nice. Tender beef slices with onions and some sesame seeds, served with some lettuce and pickled ginger on the rice.
