This was one restaurant where the boss still roast their own roast pork, char siew and roast duck. Usually I would come here for their roast duck. This restaurant had been around in Katong for many years. Usually I will come here for their roast duck but that's another review.

My partner wanted to eat noodle, since we were there we might just eat there. The noodle was well cooked and still have the springy feeling. But the char siew a little dry on that day. Overall with their sauce it still makes a good meal.

Ambush a restaurant selling European cuisine. This restaurant is located on the 4th floor of the new wing of Plaza Singapura. It's tuck in a cozy corner. This is the first time I've been to this restaurant.

The food menu is presented in a form newspaper format with four full pages of the food.

The surrounding is pretty quiet and cozy.

Was served Roasted Pork Knuckle. The skin very crispy and the meat is really tender it's just like eating the local version. Except this tastes richer. When you mixed with the sauce, the mashed potato, mustard and sour veg, to me it tastes heavenly. Yum yum... tongue
Mussel Port

Mussel Port

Another starters is the mussel pot a must try was served two version the Vin Blanc and Aglio Olio. I personally like the Vin Blanc (white wine) sauce, the sauce did not overpower the mussel itself. The mussels served were big and crunchy. tongue

I asked for Ice Caffe Mocha which incidentally was one of my favorite drink anywhere.
Chicken Garlic Sausage with Pasta

Chicken Garlic Sausage with Pasta

The main meal I tried was Chicken Garlic Sausage with Pasta. The sausage oozed with cheese when it was cut. I like the sausage but the pasta was a letdown. The taste of tomato was too overpowering, I could only tasted tomato instead of the other ingredient.

Overall I would say this was a good experience. Good food and good company. Most importantly value for money.

This stall seems to only operate in the morning. I was there at 1pm and it was sold out, lucky me I managed to get the last plate of white carrot cake. Seems that the entire hawker center works this way, do not go there for late lunch or you will be disappointed.

The texture of the carrot cake was just nice, feels soft and cooked with the eggs and it's very fragrant too. This stalls sells both the white and the black version. Cost $2.50/$3.00.

While we were busy marking out our orders something caught my eyes. There's a brochure showing CNY 2013 reunion set. The set consists of 8 treasures bowl set and a float cost $9.80. We decided to order this since it's CNY afterall. But were told we needed to wait for 20 minutes since they needed time to prepare.

The 8 treasures came in a cover bowl. When we opened up sure we were surprised of the contents inside. It consists of char siew, shredded eggs, mince meat, ham, sausage, corn, peas and fresh mushroom cooked together with coconut rice. When we removed the cover we could smell the fragrance of the rice with all the ingredients. The 8 treasures bowl set in my opinion is best eat when all the ingredients are mixed together instead of eating separate. If eaten individually the mince meat will tastes too salthy, all the other ingredients will taste too plain.

Thai Basil Mama noodle Smile Jan 28, 2013   (Related Review)

Had this dish Thai Basil Mama Noodle. This is a noodle style of the rice. As the name stated they uses the instant noodle instead. The dish is simple and tasty too. The lady boss gave a very generous portion of the meat. It's a little to spicy for me. The noodle very springy, not too salty taste just right. Noticed that every Thai food stalls will give you a sunny side up for this dish. Today the the egg a little over cooked. Otherwise it would be perfect.
