After a good wait about half an hour in the queue, I conclude that the crowds of Zhen Zhen's was no gimmick. Food was genuinely great and did not let us down. Impressed by its presentation, this colorful plate of raw fish was just too good to be true. Looking at its quantity, for such amount of food, it could easily cost me S$5.00 but from Zhen Zhen, I'm getting them at almost half the pricing.
Cost: S$3.00

Amount of fresh chilled cut fish was heavily garnished with 4 limes, shredded gingers, spring onions in fried and raw versions and topped with some striking red hot chilli slices. Those meat are freshly and not the typical thin slices we got from the Chinese New Year Yu Sheng. Although this dish was served raw, the powerful garnishing had greatly minimised the raw taste from a fish. Eating them is as good as having it cooked.

Next on our order is none other than its porridge that had been drawing the hordes. If you are thinking of having pork porridge, I'm afraid that you have to go elsewhere as Zhen Zhen does not sell that.

All were good. Every bowl of porridge that comes out from the kitchen was garnished with fried onions, spring onions and Dong Cai (Mustard Greens). Porridge was cooked to a gluey perfection till the extent that one couldn't even find any grains or clustering. What's the trick? It was seen that Zhen Zhen's had its stall implemented with a big automated cooker that slowly stirred its porridge around the clock throughout its business hours. At a reasonable value, our bowls of Century Egg with Lean Meat and Chicken Porridge was actually filled up with chockful of fresh ingredients.

There are different sizes for the porridge and I got the $3 portion which is the smallest size I think. It is quite a big and filling bowl of congee. I ordered the century egg, fish and chicken porridge. There were lots of ingredients in it. With every mouthful, there were ingredients being scooped up. The congee was just like gruel. I could hardly see any grains of rice. Wish it could be less gruel-ish. Definitely worth the money but I don't think I will queue up for 30 minutes just to eat it a

The yusheng sold here is really fresh and rather cheap and affordable. They have 4 different sizes from $2-$5. I got the $4 portion and I was surprised by the huge amount. At $4, it is definitely worth it to get this generous serving of yu sheng. I waited for 30-35 minutes to purchase this as their service was rather slow. There were about 10 people in queue and it took a long time till it was my turn.

If you have a craving at lunch time for a bowl of piping hot porridge, look no further than Zhen Zhen porridge. The porridge was well cooked and very gooey, and the fried shallots was really good. Dig deeper and one can find generous portions of fresh fish and pieces of chicken. If you are feeling slightly unhealthy, then go for the fried you tiao which goes really well with the porridge. For $3 per bowl, this is indeed a bargain good eat.

This porridge stall always has snaking long queues. I waited for around 40 minutes before I finally got my plain porridge with raw fish slices on the side. While I love their food, but waiting 45minutes for porridge is really far too long. Do go early before 11:45 to ensure a short waiting time.

Maxwell Food Centre had no less than 10 stalls selling porridge in the morning – what? I thinks it has more than 30 years of history, it is always long queue, at least more than 10 people in the queue. Be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes for your bowl of $2.30 pleasure during lunchtime.

The queue was not entirely the reason for the wait, but aunties inside took a painstakingly long time to cut up the ingredients and get orders.

i love their yu sheng, for $5, i got a large portion.

Super long queue but we decided to try it out as we had the porridge craving. We waited about half an hour to get our food. We ordered fish + chicken porridge, fish + century egg porridge and raw fish slices to share. The porridge is really smooth and tasty and the serving is generous and everything also costs $9. Overall, i think it is worth the long wait.
