This satay bee hoon stall in Ang Mo Kio Central Food Market has been around for at least 25 years. I first had this when I was in primary school in the 1980s as my Granny was a big fan of it and she’d always bring me here then. I continued patronising this stall over the years not just because it evokes childhood memories but because it is still one of the better satay bee hoons in Singapore after I’ve tried many others elsewhere. The winning formula has got to be the satay sauce that is thick, r

The winning formula has got to be the satay sauce that is thick, rich and flavourful despite being oily too. I don’t like cockles so I’d always request for them to be omitted and the stall owner would just give me extras of the other ingredients. I love the crunch of the fresh prawns and kang kong (water spinach). The sliced pork, cuttlefish and tau pok (fried tofu puffs) are tender. The bee hoon is nicely blanched so it’s never soft and soggy. Drenched with a generous helping of the satay sauce, this is a volcano of flavours and textures. What’s not to like?

While I patronize Ang Mo Kio Food Centre, today is the first time I tried Centre Satay Bee Hoon...A plate of satay bee hoon which costs $3 comes in a satisfactory portion of vermicilli served with cuttlefish, cockles, prawn, lean meat and kangkong...Remarkably sweet and savory, the thick satay sauce coats the bee hoon very well...The fresh cuttlefish is extremely tasty and crunchy...Try while is HOT...

Having my lunch at Ang Mo Kio Market a while ago. I ordered a Meehoon with Satay at one of the stall there. The stall was not big, we were greeted by a friendly boss while we standing in front of the stall, thinking what we wanted to order. There was no queue visible.Actually the meehoon was so-so, the gravy was too sweet for me. However, I can tasted the freshness of all ingredients such as Vegetables, Squid, Tau Kwa and Prawn. It costed $3.50 each plate of meehoon.

This is one of the 2 stalls for Satay Bee Hoon in this food centre. I was there to take away for dinner at home. The nicely cooked bee hoon is served with the fragrant peanut sauce. It came with ingredients like tau pok, cockles, prawn, lean meat, cuttlefish and kang kong. The sauce is a bit diluted as compared to the other more popular stall in the same food centre. The standard is still above average though.

I am a big fan of Satay Bee Hoon, and this particular stall from Ang Mo Kio has been around for more than 20 years. My very first plate of Satay Bee Hoon was from this stall in 1980s.The most important component of a good Satay Bee Hoon is the peanut gravy. The peanut gravy here is rather well balanced but a little diluted at times. Their ingredients like prawn, lean meat and cockles are rather fresh and in the reasonable amount. But this stall is not the my top choice when i am craving for Satay Bee Hoon now, i would rather travel and go queue at Bukit Timah Food Centre.
