Keong Saik Road is often bustling with activity for both tourists and locals. Foong Kee Coffee Shop is one of the restaurants along this stretch that preserved its traditional facade and enjoys a thriving lunch crowd. We tried the duck meat with rice and the charsiew. We tried the duck meat with rice and the charsiew. Initially, we were too early (11.15am) and the charsiew was not ready yet, but subsequently it was ready at around 11.30am - so you know what time to arrive! 

I found that the duck meat that went with the rice wasn't tender enough; the sauce which was fragrant and delicious could also be thicker. I like my food flavours to be a little more intense these days. The charsiew hit the sweet spot, with slightly burnt sides and also it was laced with luscious sweet honeyed sauce. 

Try the charsiew when you are here.

Good:- Char siew meat is made up of a good combination of lean and fat meat.- Sauce is sweet, flavourful and delicious. Not overwhelming in taste.Bad:- Very crowded during lunch hour.- Not very hygienic as you can find pigeons flying around- Very warmOverall:Would still return as the char siew rice is nice. Would also probably recommend to friends, provided one does not mind the long queue and warmth in the hawker centre.

One of the best wanton mee we ever eat, their wanton is nice with their soup base, char siew very fragrant (they made themselves), noodles very Q, with not so strong black sauce, we simply just love it right away, too bad the cook is old, hope there will be somebody to hand over, it is one of the wanton mee with quality ingredients used, taste not overpowering each other. highly recommended. yummy yummy.

I was a little on the dry side, but less fat and the layer of crispy skin was just the right thickness. We had also requested leaner charsiew and this request will be my order each time i come here from now on. Heh. The chicken was quite passable though.

Some greens to balance it out, and i loved the dumpling soup! With the haze these days its really killing my appetite (especially when you struggle to breathe) so sometimes i just wan a soup. The one here is really good with smooth skin and succulent prawn. Yumz.

Be careful of the lunch crowd and get ready to sweat!

The FoodI ordered the wanton mee dry served with a clear sauce and fantastic char siew. The noodles were springy and had very distinct taste. The char siew was very tasty with fatty, caramelized burnt and was succulent and moist. The wantons were soft and juicy with ample minced meat inside and the chilli also very nice.The PriceReasonably priced at $3.00 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

This is my third visit to Foong Kee and because it is so good, I decided that being a filial daughter, I need to bring my mum here. I just can't help it, everytime I am around the chinatown area, I suffer from intense craving for Foong Kee. The char siew here is fantastic, I would say it is number 1, but it certainly is very good, especiallly if the 'chopper' is in a good mood and he gives you the slightly fatty and charred parts. The roast pork and the duck is also wonderfully drool inducing.

Yes! Foong Kee wanton mee to me is the winner of the best all rounder Wonton mee! Why? Because in terms of noodles, char siew, wonton, sauce and chili. It is Number 1. While some places like Fei Fei do have good noodles but unfortunately key ingredient like Char Siew is sorely disappointing. On the other hand, Foong Kee char siew is shiok! very shiok! especially if you request for it to be slice thick and with the fatty charred parts. Wonderful, writing about it makes me drool. The strongest win

The strongest winning factor for this wonton mee is certainly the char siew. I like the sauce too, it is the dark KL kind of sauce which I love. Wonton not too bad but of course not as outstanding as the char siew.
I need to be back to try the soya sauce chicken noodles.
I tried the roasted duck too, pretty good too I must say. And like all good food, be prepared to wait if you are here during lunch time.
