The Song Fa Bak Kut Teh for me is the best Bak Kut Teh in town. The unlimited soup, the chillis and the pork itself with the taste of garlic and spices are so tasteful. The drinks are good serve with enough ice. But there are also flaws especially on the area. They are not airconditioned, the place is small, some tables are outside and beside the road so its noisy, messy and hot. The wet wipes serves immediately but its not for free. I tend to avoid Bak Kut Teh (BKT) especially the Teochew style which is overloaded with pepper and garlic. The only reason is that I get gastric pain. It's strange but so unfortunately true.Hence, I went to this BKT after seeing many queues, before deciding to try the BKT here and I was thrilled that my delicate stomach didn't protest one bit.I was very taken with the braised dishes that went so well with rice. They now have another shop space beside the old one at the cross junction of the main road and the side road. Once you come out from Clarke Quay MRT (the burger king side) you'll see it across the road. The old one is still more popular with customers so it was really crowded compared to the new shop space. But I reckon they taste the same? Since they are the same shop. The new one has air con but you can't really feel it la. It actually looks more clean and spacious compared to the old shop front. But it somehow lacks the old feel, like this one feels more commercialized and less authentic. But the BKT is still nice la! I really like the BKT here because the soup base is just the right amount of spiciness. I went to the one at Outram before but it was too spicy and tasted too much like pepper spam for my liking. The meat also comes off really easily and is not tough at all. The you tiao wasn't that crispy because I guess it’s pre-fried, but it didn't really matter because we were drowning it in the soup anyway. i went with my hubby to song fa bak kut teh for dinner the other night, we went there at about 7pm so there was not much of a crowd. We ordered a bowl of small bak kut teh each. We added salted vegetables and you tiao as well. I love eating the you tiao with the soup, the you tiao just simply soften and absorb the soup like a sponge. The soup at song fa is really awesome, it is not too salty but very tasty. The meat is very soft, goes well with the black sauce and chilli. I went to try out song fa bak kut teh since I was in the area. We went on a Friday evening but lucky for us, it was not too crowded. I ordered the small bak kut teh which cost me $6.50. it had three bak kut, however the soup was free flow. The waitress will auto refill your soup as soon as they see it close to empty. The soup is really very tasty, it is not too salty or peppery. The bak kut is very delicious, the meat is very soft and goes well with the black sauce chilli. This is by far the best Bak Ku Teh I had in Singapore so far. It is always crowded during meal times so to avoid the crowd better be there slightly earlier. The soup base is the white kind and cooked with lots of pepper. One can definitely feel that the stomach is warm after eating. A small bowl of bak ku teh comes with 3 pork ribs and there is unlimited refill to the soup. The pork rib is soft and tender. The soup is very addictive and I can easily refill three to four times. Apart from the bak ku teh, there are other nice side dishes that can be ordered. We ordered you tiao and large intestines to go with it. My girlfriend introduced me to the bak kut teh at song fa. It was really good, really worth making the trip here. The soup is really tasty. It is very thick, not the watery kind. The bak kut or rather pork bone is really nice and tender. I love their cai wei, a little sweetish and saltish. The you tiao goes really well with the soup. After having a disappointing lunch buffet, I had a disappointing dinner at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh.I always believe that food should taste better than the drinks they serve. So when the drink taste better then there's really something wrong with the food. Which is the case at Song Fa.The few times here wasn't that bad which was why I dropped by. I am sure this is the last time here at Song Fa.Nothing to complain about these 2 dishes, it was the intestines that spoil everything.The intestines were not nicely done, after eating it we felt disgusted somehow and it spoil our appetite. In fact, it was so gross that I could only force myself to have 2 pieces. We didn't finish it.I don't know what's wrong with the Bak Kut Teh, there's just something missing - just lack of something. Peppery bak Kut Teh. Loved by locals. I had to give it a try. Then I saw this on the menu: Pig tail!! Yippee! One of my fav snack! HEHE. Love the slippery smooth collagen texture of this dish. They served in the same broth as the pork ribs/bak ku teh. Nothing special for both dishes. The you tiao/fried flour fritters is also so-so. Not very crispy. Guess I'm a bigger fan of the herbal version of the bak kut teh dish. The thick soy sauce is not too thick - uh oh. Chilli also not very spicy. The staff is also prompt in their service of refilling our bowl of bak kut teh with soup whenever we almost finish drinking the soup.
