recommend their signature tofu:It is kind of differentiated compared to other types of tofu, with various ingredients.Taste wise, I would recommend curry chicken and curry fish head:The fish head was fresh but a little bit over cooked.Laksa was okay, the texture of the noodle was too soft but the soup was tasty.As for the梅菜扣肉, the pork belly was tender.Affordable lunch.

Located in a quite "Wu Lu" location is this small Bai Jia cafe that offers affordable meals. Some dishes were not bad and some were not that great. The drinks however all tasted blend and were not very nice. The fish and chips were good though. The fried fish and the french fries were delicious and the fries even has a special seasoning to them making it more tasty. The tofu was also not bad.

For those people who always go Ah Fang, you will notice a Cafe when you walk towards Ah Fang. It looks a bit classy but feels kinda weird to have a cafe just below the HDB. Therefore my first thought was to avoid such places. I will just list the food that i like the most here even thought i've tried a several of them.

Firstly, it is there curry chicken! For my taste, i'd prefer curry that is not too spicy and not too sweet. This curry chicken is the perfect combination for me! I was like keeping on pouring the curry sauce into my rice in every bite. The chicken and potato was great too.

Next, it is this curry fish head. Its been quite awhile since i had curry fish head and once i tried the curry fish head here, i kept wanting to eat more. The curry has a unique flavor to it and it wasn't too spicy either! For those who love spicy-ness, i think you can add more chilli or something.

Last of all, this is my favorite dish of all, it has lots of mixture of ingredients and it is simply delicious! I ate one which had a big chestnut in it which was a great mixture! It still taste great eating it with or without the mayo.

In conclusion, this food combination was awesome and i had a great meal with my friends without regrets. Oh yeah. The price is just right for the quality that was given! So those who are going to Ah Fang and feel like eating something new and better, head over to Bai Jia Cafe for a great meal!

Other dishes like the curry chicken and signature tofu (pictured) were agreeable enough, but the braised pork belly was as tender as an alcoholic husband with a penchant for using his fists. Drinks were bland.

Tofu, nothing beats having some less/non spicy food after rounds of spiciness. And mind you, there is black fungus inside the tofu (can you imagine that?!)

Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables, is a dish that I'll never forget, the braised pork melted in my mouth!
I thought it will be like any other pork meat again and nothing special but I was totally wrong! You should try it yourself

Lastly, we have western food. Much to my surprised that they actually served western food, because now you can enjoy different kinds of food in just one place. The fries was kind of special and up till now I still can't figure out the spices they used. It's not like any other fries you eat outside where they use only salt. This has something special which tasted like the large crispy chicken I ate at those Taiwan food stall. Nevertheless, it's really yummy and goes well with the fries. And the portion of the chicken/fish cutlet is quite huge too!

Hello! This is the second time that I am in a food tasting session with Open Rice! Honestly speaking, the location was really far from where I lived but the food here is awesome. I do not take spicy food all the time as it is my least favourite. However, today at 百佳茶餐厅, they really prove me wrong. I super duper love their curry fish head. I never tried it before in other places and I am loving it here. The curry is different and fish is really fresh. Thumbs UP! For people whom doesn't take spicy

I do not take spicy food all the time as it is my least favourite. However, today at 百佳茶餐厅, they really prove me wrong. I super duper love their curry fish head. I never tried it before in other places and I am loving it here. The curry is different and fish is really fresh. Thumbs UP! For people whom doesn't take spicy food, fret not ! Because I can't really take them too. The curry in the cafe was not as spicy as I expected but it was definitely thick with a strong aroma. ^^

I also tried their curry chicken too. I thought that the curry chicken is a little spicier than the curry fish head. As for me, i do prefer the curry fish head more! As for the spiciness level wise, it is still acceptable for non- spicy eater

Next up, laksa! Laksa was ok, what was awesome will be their soup solely. It was thick with lots of coconut milk which makes the dish so tasty! I kinda like the noodle too! Slurp

Fried Tofu!!! This is my favourite among all the dishes. This tofu have a mixture of ingredients in it that makes it so tasty and crunchy. I love it when they serve it when the temperature just right. It aint too hot to consume immediately, it tastes just right!
this is a must order if you are dining here.;)

梅菜扣肉 is definitely sinful but i have no regrets eating it. Hehe. The meat so tender and the fats can totally melt in your mouth! The vegetable is awesome too ;) It is also one of the unique dish around. Not many places have this i think

We also tried their western cuisine, chicken cutlet and fish & chips. It was decent but what i love most is their fries! The chef used a different seasoning from what we always have salt. I love the fries. It is so special and unique that I could munch it for the whole day.


Although they are just a small cafe, I like that when they keep all the food fresh everyday. (:

This laksa literally set fireworks on my appetance! By far this is the best laksa I've tried, the coconut milk and the spices blended really well and it hit the right notes for me. The tau pok was the bomb! Best eaten soaked in laksa gravy.

Curry fish head. THIS IS ONE OF THE SIGNATURE DISHES AT BAI JIA CAFE. The fish head was really fresh. One of the indicator of the freshness was that the fish eye has no tinge of fishiness! The long beans and cabbage were thoroughly cooked in the assam curry. Slurps.

As the lady boss specialize in preparing spicy dishes, the next dish that was served was also spicy - Thai Style Tofu!
Really love the tofu wrapped in a thin layer of batter thoroughly fried, drenched in tangy spicy blended sauce with strands of raw onion rings.

Served piping hot, this Signature Tofu that the lady boss brought out for us was awesome! Each bite taste exquisitely different as she added chestnut, prawns, spring onion, carrots and even black fungus (hei mu er) to make the tofu!

Lastly we had Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables (mei cai kou rou)! The vegetables were made by the chef and it was a tad too salty for me. But the pork belly was yummy! It literally melts in your mouth and doesn't leave a fatty after taste.

Will definitely go back for more laksa, curry fish head and tofu!

Curry Fishhead

The curry chicken is fantastic! It has a strong taste of coconut milk which i really likes! Same goes for the curry fishhead, except it is Thai style which I prefers more. For the laksa, the soup is pretty tastful too. For those who doesnt like spicy food, these dishes are not that spicy and I recommend these dishes for trying

Chili Paste Handmade By Boss

This chili paste is by far the spiciest thing I had ever taste. According to the boss, it is made by purely chili puddy, that is why it is so spicy. I took a small bit of it and it really burned my tongue.

Pork Belly

Both the tofu dishes are really good. The thai style tofu is not that spicy, but I still love it. For the handmade tofu, this is one of the best I ever had. The ingredients were well-blended and they even have black fungus in it. The port belly is tender and chewy too!

Bai Jia has many signature dishes, one of which is their Bai Jia Curry Chicken! The curry base and chili are personally compounded by the lady boss herself. It is spicier than my normal threshold, but then again I'm not someone who indulge too much in spicy food. The chicken itself was quite tender and generally tasty. It would be good for them to allow their customers to choose the level of spiciness (like Nando's) as everyone likes different levels of spiciness

The Bai Jia Laksa surprised me with its softer spicy texture with more coconut milk. I liked this dish a lot because I think that the curry base blend is perfect. The noodles were also springy and complements the curry base nicely. Definitely one of the dishes worth ordering again.

The Bai Jia Curry Fish Head is the signature dish of the restaurant. Their fish supply is renewed daily to ensure its freshness, so no worries about the freshness. However, I do find that it pales in comparison with the laksa because the fish could be more tender albeit its freshness. It was a little tough to the bite. Even so, the traditional asam curry base fits in well.

For something usually mundane as Fries, they added a little seasoning to spice it up a little - it reminded me of the pepper/chilli powder in Shihlin Chicken Cutlet. Quite a special dish due to the different seasoning.

The Chicken Cutlet is one of the few western dishes Bai Jia offers, which I find was pretty good but not spectacular. If you're not in the mood for the local dishes then I think this is the best option out of the western dishes.

Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables - another dish that pleasantly surprised me a lot! I thought it was going to be super oily - but no it's really NOT oily and fattening. I really enjoyed this dish. It's another one that's worth ordering again - but only if I'm going with a group of friends that want to share this.

Their Signature Dish Tofu is also something really unique from anything I've eaten. Usually the sweet and sour mixture you see is paired with fish, but tofu? It actually works beautifully too! I would like it better if they used the egg tofu which is softer and smoother.

Ironically, I can't remember the name of my favourite dish. But I really like it a lot because:
1. It's not spicy hahaha.
2. It has a LOT of ingredients inside and it makes me happy when I eat it - there's black fungus, prawns, some random vegetable and some other random things but it feels like it's packed with things.
3. I actually found an entire prawn inside. Whoa.

Okay all in all this is the most memorable dish out of everything and I will definitely order this when I go back to eat (it's so near to my school!).

The best part - while you're at a queue that snakes for about five metres from the stall at Canteen B why not take a ten minutes to this air-conditioned restaurant which sells really affordable and yummy food?! There's also a 15% discount (excluding desserts & drinks) for NTU students, just flash your matriculation card!

Directions from NTU: Cut across Yunnan Gardens, take the overhead bridge and walk into the HDB cluster to your right. You can't miss it, it's quite prominent.

The Fish head was very fresh as it does not have the "fishy" taste and complements well with the gravy. Also tried the laksa and it's reasonably priced. It's only $3.50! It was well served with full boiled egg, slices of fish cake,tau pok, bean sprouts and thick bee hoon. The laksa has a rich coconut taste which adds to the richness of the gravy. The spicy level was also just right and you won't feel heaty even after finishing the dish.

Tasted the braised meat with preserved veg and i would recommend everyone to try too! The meat served was not fatty meat and it simply melts into your mouth even before you start chewing it!
