With such, there is a chinese reputable Teahouse in Hong Kong with exact business name but they are not affiliated in any way.

Being a teahouse serving dim sum as well as the usual chinese delicacies, we were given just more than one menu, with a menu for set meals, another for dim sum, and another for ala carte dishes etc.

The dim sum menu is rather straight forward, all stated on a page with pictures and name, making it for diners to read instead of flipping pages.

Overall, the Dim Sum experience I had in Luk Yu maybe above average however, they do not have any item that is very impressive and something that I may come back for.

Given a benchmark of its standard in its service and food quality, I dont mind coming back once more for its Chinese ala carte food items.

I passed by Luk Yu and noticed that they have a dim sum promotion of 30% off from 3pm to 5pm, and went back to give it a try. You could specify the quantity of each dim sum you want, even 1, so you could try lots of it. The liu sha bao was mediocre, filling didn't flow. The fried mango & shrimp one was good, as well as the fried beancurd skin. Carrot cake was alright. I also got the abalone glutinous rice - do avoid this, the rice is too lumpy and moist.

Overall, for high tea, we enjoyed the dish, the ingredients used are very fresh, nice for high tea break on a weekend afternoon, overall dim sum standard not bad. Service good, fried dishes also not bad. I like the cosy environment in this restaurant, drinking tea with dim sum. : )

We ordered pan-fried carrot cake. The manager (I think) brought the fried carrot cake with XO sauce out from the kitchen and randomly asked if we’d like to have it. Looks good, so we take that and cancelled the pan-fried version. Not too bad as compared to those that I had in Singapore.

Another item on my must-have list - Steamed Pork Ribs. Yummy!!!

Surprisingly, the bill came and it's around $50 (Forgot the exact amount). Not as expensive as I thought it would be. Or maybe we didn't order a lot of items? But they are quite filling for lunch. Wouldn't mind going back again, I'd like to try their desserts.

Firstly, don't mistake this as a branch of the original HKG restaurant which is one of the best dim sum albeit expensive restaurant. You do get what you pay for. Having misappropriated their name I was hoping that they could replicate the food to some reasonable standard.

Service: Friendly, the waitresses were polite and fast in responding to requests like topping up tea, extra chilli sauce. What was forth coming was that we had a reservation for 7 at 1:30pm and we had to wait 40 mins till 2:10pm before we could take a seat. This was despite arriving at 1:15pm. I tried to ask what the issue was, but was brushed aside by the manager. The receptionist did confess that even though they knew it was full they still took reservations, which I felt was unprofessional.

Food:

Recommended - Pork ribs with bean sauce, Pan Fried Carrot Cake, Roasted Char Siew.

The Pork ribs was very succulent with the right amount of juiciness. The carrot cake was crispy on the pan fried end and buttery soft on the inside. The char siew was definitely done to HKG standard.

Average: BBQ Pork Bunds, Abalone Glutinous Rice, Spicy Dumpling Vine, BBQ Pork Pastry, Tasty Yam Puffs, Cripsy Shrimp and Bananas, Wasabi Mayo Prawn Balls. These dishes were a let down given that they advertised that their chefs came from HKG. Average quality which does not tempt you to try them again

Not Recommended: Century Egg Porridge, Spring rolls. Don't waste your calories on these 2 dishes. The porridge was neither smooth nor tasty and the spring rolls? I swear hawker centers do them better.

Value for money: Pricing is fair. and we spent a a total of 165.50 SGD

TIP: If you have a party of 4, there should be no danger of them making you wait when you have made reservations. If you have a bigger party, you should make your appointment at 11am when they open.

Summary: A failed attempt to ride on the coat tails of the original in HKG, non astute consumers may think its related to the HKG restaurant. It just goes to prove how good the HKG stall is. More misses than hits.

Bright and spacious layout of this Chinese restaurant has always been my favourite venue to have a quiet meal with my family members. Service here is also not too bad and quite prompt in service too. The fried beef kway teow here is my all-time favourite dish. The kway teow is chewy and very fragrant. THe thinly sliced beef meats are also very tender and juicy. Really appreciate the generous amount of bean sprouts added in it which added that extra crunch to this dish too. Simply delicious!

Well, I regret I nvr took any photo as from of respecting them for authority and privacy purposes especially in hierarchy working environment, well, I just got picture of the recipe . The overload price is alright as each person is only around $20 for all the nice food. Xiao long Bao is hot and juicy that it like fire burning your mouth for a moment of thrill and silent. They recommended this roast pork rib which we ordered was nice too as it is fishy, just nice not too fat or too thin, we finish it all, having the sauce taste in it although one of the boss think since it recommended , it could be better.wasabimayoprawn ball was what I like most as it like Japanese style of tokayoi in Chinese restaurant style with mix of English style that suit everyone taste and special. Prawn is fish and mix well both wasabi and mayo taste. The signature beancurd was nice with vegetable , mushroom and 3 big cube of it, it blend well, we love it and enough for all. Strfr w veg was perhap a little disappointing for all as we expect it to be more salty that plain and the vegetable was abit to long to cut and take in round table surrounding. Their Service is good as they keep refilling and pup urging the pu Er for us and what great the pickle is a good dish to Kai wei before our food. The overall environment is classy and elegant now. Cool and clean. Almost all the dish are nice.

Wok fried fragrant glutinuous rice with assorted preserved meat which taste ok for me only. The presentation looks small for us. We don’t really enjoyed it as the glutinuous rice is slightly harder to consume when it becomes cold. So, it will be best to served hot condition and consume immediately to enjoy the fragrance and smoothness.

Braised whole 6 head abalone with Chinese mushroom and sea moss. Definitely a beautiful presentation. Everyone gets a slice of the head abalone and the sauce prepared blends well with the dish.

Dinner ended with glutinuous dumpling with red bean pasta. The sesame paste flowed out immediately after a bite and I love having it with the red bean pasta. Not too sweet and just perfect to end my wonderful Friday night dinner.

The mini abalone with vegetables is of pretty good standard too, just right in favours. The deep fried soon hock fish in superior soy sauce was not bad, crispy and not too salty. One letdown was the glutinous rice which I think was tasteless and rather dry. Dessert was just average, nothing to comment on. Overall, a good place to dine in with family and friends or working colleagues. Should give it a try. Price is decent as well with such standard. i will try their dim sum buffet next time.

Dim Sum selections were great. We tried about 9 different types, especially love their "Guo Tie". Food quality is Excellent and ingredients are very fresh. Somehow the standard is high by Singapore std. The staff were a little bit confused because we switch table before the first dish was ordered but it took them awhile to make some adjustment at the backend.
The servers are pleasant but you can see they are under-staff. Guess every restaurant in Singapore are facing similar problems with shortage of workers, thanks to Govt for an overnight tightening of rules! Ambience is nice and "China" like. I like the name Luk Yu because that is the name of "God of Tea", and Luk Yu is the first person that wrote the first Enclyopedia on Tea!
On a separate day, had dinner there with friends. Their Roast-Pork and roast Chicken are very very delicious! Overall, it is definitely value for money. A group of 6 of us spend about SGD310, inclusive of wine, tea, dessert, etc. Lunch for 3 was around SGD52.
