I had guests coming over to my house and since it was quite a last minute notice, I decided to get a cake from Bengawan Solo to serve them. I have tried the banana cake last time, so I chose the walnut cake which costs $8.80, one dollar more expensive than the banana cake. I had a slice of the cake myself and frankly I was quite disappointed with the cake. I was expecting some walnut chunks to be within the cake, but I couldn’t taste any. Not only they are specialised with their wide range of nonya kuehs, they are also good with their different range of sponge cakes as well. Enjoyed their butter marble cake alot as it is thick and high in butter flavour and is quite fragrant. Great to go along with a cup of hot coffee or tea. Normally it can be stored in refrigerator normal compartment for at least 3 to 4 days after purchase. However it is still recommended to eat it fresh once purchased from their outlets.

This is my favourite place for cakes and Nonya kuih.Their signature Lapis cake or Layered Cake tastes exquisite.I savour each mouthful as I eat it layer by layer.The cake is soft and full of flavour.The other layered wonder is ''Lapis Sagu" - the traditional one made with glutinous rice.The consistency of each layer is just right and the taste will leave you wanting more.The service is fast and the staff are efficient.
