Good Burger

At last, I finally tried Charlie & Co. Ive passed this restaurant at the ION Basement so many times, but the price tag always changes my mind. 15 bucks for a normal lunch is too much for me. Haha! Anyway, I decided to splurge one day and tried what this fairly new place has to offer.I chose the Charlie Classic Burger. If I remember correctly, it was 12 bucks?  I chose the Charlie Classic Burger. If I remember correctly, it was 12 bucks? When you add truffle fries, it's about 6 dollars. The patty was quite thick and tasty. And the veggies added to it was quite fresh. the bun wasn't thick as i would have liked it, but it was still pretty good and slightly toasted.

Came across Charlie & Co. on a Wednesday evening, at about $15 to $20, it is pretty costly for a burger. But still decided to give it a try. There are choices like Truffle Fries, Brie and Blue Cheese for toppings, and the beef patties are Australian Wagyu. I ordered the All Day Breakfast Burger. The entire plate of All Day Breakfast is packed in between two burger bun generously brushed with melted butter. There is ham, bacon, cheese and egg in the burger and every bite is mouthwatering! The flavor is well-balance and the ham and bacon is not too salty. Would return to try their Wagyu burgers.

Burger without fries!

Its a Saturday night... after a day of cooking and baking you head out to ion to find a hearty meal and what you get somewhat disappoints you!My close friend and myself walked down to Ion Orchard to have a meal around 830pm and we werent sure of what we could consume... we took a walk down orchard road and no we didnt go to mcdonalds at centrepoint to have filet and share a cup of lemon lime but instead we had some burgers at charlie and co.Normally a very standard F&B rule is this... My close friend and myself walked down to Ion Orchard to have a meal around 830pm and we werent sure of what we could consume... we took a walk down orchard road and no we didnt go to mcdonalds at centrepoint to have filet and share a cup of lemon lime but instead we had some burgers at charlie and co.

Normally a very standard F&B rule is this... Whenever there is a burger, there must be fries, wedges or any potato product accompanied by salad.

This wasnt the case. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger or something like that with non alcoholic beer... well there is non alcoholic beer... it is called ginger beer...

We paid around $43 for 2 burgers and 2 beverages... i mean seriously wth... $43 im ok with that knowing its ion and all but to my amazement.... it was just the burger without fries... without salad or anything of that sort.

No wonder the staff asked me if i wanted some side orders i was like... err no this is good for now...

It is just a very standard f&b practice to have fries with burgers... if i would say chicken chop they wouldnt just give me the chicken chop but the fries as well.

I would have to say.... the burger was good... bacon fried with the meat patty... not too filling but just nice...

I went back to order the truffle fries so as to accompany my meal...

The staff were pretty friendly.. This guy has excellent customer service in a loud pleasant tone asking everyone how the food was. I am so proud to be doing f&b and even better where i came from before.

Classic Charlie Burger with Onion Rings

I ordered the Classic Charlie Burger for my lunch yesterday, which cost me $15. I also ordered the Onion Ring which cost $7. In total my meal cost $22, inclusive of GST.The Classic Charlie Burger consists of a huge beef patty and it also contains a huge chunk of raw vegetables and tomato. I think this will greatly appeal to veggie lovers but sadly I dislike the raw vegetables. The beef itself was tasty and yummy!!! For the Onion Rings, they were crispy and huge!!! Serving portion was quite a lot

The Classic Charlie Burger consists of a huge beef patty and it also contains a huge chunk of raw vegetables and tomato. I think this will greatly appeal to veggie lovers but sadly I dislike the raw vegetables. The beef itself was tasty and yummy!!!


For the Onion Rings, they were crispy and huge!!! Serving portion was quite a lot too.

For a price of $22 for just a simple burger that's not that huge at all and a basket of onion rings, I felt it's slightly overpriced as I can get a better valued meal elsewhere for the same price.

This restaurant certainly values customers feedback. Their waiter or waitress visited every table and ask the diners about how we found our meal and are there any feedback / suggestions for them to improve on. For the table behind us, I overheard the auntie telling the staff that their fries were not satisfactory but I can't really hear the reason that she gave to the waiter. But he immediately apologized to the auntie and proceed to get his kitchen to cook a new basket of fries for her table. I am certainly impressed by the culture of this restaurant.

Common tell-tale signs include sudden spike in human traffic within the vicinity of the eatery, a full-house sign at the shop entrance during meal times, queues and more queues.  Much of the negativity faded when I got my meal though. I ordered a Double Cheese and Bacon Burger ($16) together with a side of Parmesan and Truffle Fries ($7) and the presentation.. I like!

The bun atop my burger reached me gleaming, and the burger itself showcase the full pack of awesome ingredients starring the 100% Australian-bred Wagyu patty. The thick juicy patty was char-grilled magnificently enough to retain a smokey flavour that added on the the savoury goodness of that marbled beef.
The patty was coated with aged Cheddar cheese (albeit not so melted) and crispy prime back bacon. That's a killer combination right there!

 My side of Parmesan and Truffle Fries came presented nicely enough - thick-cut fries sprinkled with parmesan cheese flakes. While you can't really go far wrong with fries, I did feel the injustice of paying $7 for truffle fries when the taste of truffle did not quite come through. So I'd have to give a so-so rating for the fries at least.

 All in all my lunch at Charlie & Co. took a hefty toll of approximately $24. On the positive side, the restaurant was spick and span, even spacious, with courteous service staff that actually went table to table asking for feedback on our food. I can at least take heart that my feedback about the fries will be taken into consideration, and probably drop by again when my wallet forgets the pinch
