I first visited &Made a while back when they first started, and the space wasn't shared with L'Entrecote Express. They are famous for their burgers, but what attracted me was the uncommon Chili Crab Toastoo, basically a sandwich made from buckwheat crepe. The chili crab filing was a little creamy, and not very spicy, with a slightly sweet taste. I liked the buckwheat crepe as well, something different from your usual bread.

Staffs were pretty attentive as we were sitting at a corner where its hard to be spotted. After ordering we were served with complimentary bread and healthy walnut salad, but too bad they didn't provide any olive oil and vinegar to go with the bread.

We ordered the legendary steak as recommended, and another customized dry age beef burger to our taste.

For the burger, it tasted moist succulent and thick but kinda lack in the fragrance of the beef patty itself, could be better, and omakase burger still taste the best so far.

The steak didn't taste as legendary as it sound, the cut of the meat wasn't that great either. Pretty picky with steak and i would say it certainly taste like any other normal western hawker stall except for its size, its a tad bigger and accompanied with a average steak sauce.

For full review: http://makeyourcaloriescount.blogspot.sg/2012/12/sg.htmlI was quite skeptical about this place initially, thinking it was just the hype of a Michelin-starred chef that was being raved about. The serving portion came as quite a surprise with the burger packed with such an awful lot of duck meat in it! I was pretty impressed with this combination of duck leg confit, thinly sliced green apple, red cabbage pickles and lime mayonnaise sauce. Friends of mine would know that I've never been a fan of vegetables and would hardly stand having any traces of it in my meals. This one, however, made me chew on and enjoyed the crunch of the red pickles, coated with the refreshing sourish sweet lime mayonnaise sauce. The duck meat was really tender, none like the kind that would leave you fighting with the duck just to get a mouthful of it, nor the type that would leave shreds stuck between your teeth. The thin slices of green apple enhanced this great combination with a burst of refreshing fruity sweetness. The only thing that could have been worked on was perhaps the bread that was too thick for my liking. But then again, with such overflowing goodness for its fillings, I can't complain much!

The truffle fries aren't exactly recommended though. I thought it was just normal, and didn't have the flavours of the truffle strong enough. It was probably just a dash of truffle oil sprinkled onto it.

This was quite an interesting blend. I'd expected the chilli crab fillings to have more of the sweet chilli flavour as prevalent in the original dish. However, this was a slightly creamier version of it, with a light hint of the chilli flavour. The presentation didn't exactly appeal to me as it was just what a sandwich machine can do easily. It was done quite well as a sandwich I would say, as I liked how crispy it was on the outside, complementing the soft and warm fillings very well. I probably wouldn't recommend this as much compared to the DD Burger, unless you're really having a random chilli crab craving.

If you're having one of those savory cravings, forget the truffle fries, this would be the perfect cure. The fries were crispy till the last one standing and the seasoning was just great. Slightly salted and having a tinge of the barbeque taste, well complemented with their homemade bbq sauce or even their ketchup which somehow has its own unique twist to it. Don't belittle the ketchup, it got quite addictive after a while, as it wasn't just the usual sweet kind. It had a slight salted taste to it, which I thought went well with the fries. Good for the sides to snack on over a cuppa, best accompanied with a rainy gloomy weather on the outside!

I'm never a fan of cream, but this just won my heart and made me crave for it now and then. It's probably one of the best sundaes I've had, a simple yet awesome combination. I didn't know that it wasn't exactly full ice-cream until my friend filled me in. It was actually half ice-cream and half chantilly cream, but gosh it tasted almost the same and you wouldn't have realised you've just eaten cream until you've read the description. I had the berry version and every mouthful got me craving for more. Topped with crispy flakes, it had a combination of mixed berries/cherries that gave the juicy touch to it and I was gladly surprised with the crunchy vanilla crumbles hidden in it! The crumble bits were filled with a rich buttery vanilla aroma that slowly spreads in your mouth as you chew and adding the cold touch of the ice-cream, it was just perfect. I liked how it wasn't too sweet and every mouthful tasted different with the variation of fruits and crumbles in it.

The dark chocolate one was almost the same in terms of the varying textures, except the fillings were substituted with chocolate sauce and pearls so I'll leave you to your imagination!

They say good things come to those who wait. Indeed, after a 15 minutes wait, this was all worth it. The service staff sliced it open upon serving and then came the gooey sweet caramel oozing out of it. The warm crisp outside, accompanied with the soft cake and dense caramel sauce, topped with what seemed like toffee ice-cream coated with the same crispy flakes as on the berry sundae - it was pure indulgence. I found the insides a tad too soft and moist, but that's just a personal preference. Nonetheless, the overall combination and presentation made it a star on our table almost immediately, having instagram work doubly hard!

With the quality of food served and the great combination, this is no doubt my new found love in town. With great ambience and most importantly, super dedicated and attentive service staff, I would definitely return again. What's more, the sundae is something to crave for! Give it a shot if you happen to be around the area!

Tried their B's burger - beef was very soft and juicy, but overall it tasted average! It was quite surprising. However the real difference was their Truffle Oil Fries, which I felt was much better.Their dessert "Berry" was extremely delicious, it is made of layers of vanilla ice cream and berries (strawberries mainly) and cornflakes. The end product was very addictive and full of flavour and texture.Would recommend all to try their dessert "Berry" at least once.

Popped by &Made by Bruno Menard for brunch one late Saturday morning since we were in the area. Read pretty good reviews about it and coupled with the fact that it is 3 Michelin Starred Chef Bruno Menard's (owner of the now defunct 3 star L'Osier in Tokyo) first restaurant in Singapore under his own name, we were pretty psyched about dining there. &Made occupies one corner of the ground floor at Pacific Plaza and has a rather quirky (a cross between a typical 80's video game and Alice in wonder

&Made occupies one corner of the ground floor at Pacific Plaza and has a rather quirky (a cross between a typical 80's video game and Alice in wonderland) feel to it. Seating capacity isn't extensive, probably about 60 pax or so and the best pick seems to be that of the booth seats if you have no more than 4 pax. Interestingly, with all the hype surrounding the restaurant, it was practically empty, save for 2 tables.

The 'B' Burger - The 'B' Burger was a tad tinier than expected whilst the patty, though done a perfect medium well, came across as tender but a little dry. The onion confit atop also proved a little overwhelming and I could hardly make out any beefy taste from the patty. I did like the bread though, soft and lightly toasted. For sides, the truffle fries (+ $3) was definitely a good choice, lightly salted with the strong fragrance of truffle oil. Overall still a pretty decent burger.

Viking Toastoo - It's the first time I'm seeing a Toastoo on a menu and apparently it is a new generation sandwich made with French buckwheat crepes (according to the menu). The viking version spotted smoked salmon, cream cheese, curry and broccoli, which sounded really interesting. Alas, it was nothing out of the ordinary. The sandwich had a crisp exterior with a stuffing of salmon (couldn't taste the smokiness unfortunately) and broccoli. The curry taste was hardly existent and honestly, the whole sandwich tasted healthily (probably due to all the broccoli) normal.

Lollipop Waffle - One of the rather quirky desserts on offer at &Made, the lollipop waffle. In actual fact, it is nothing more than a waffle cooked in a huge lollipop mold and served on a stick with 3 cylindrical containers of white, dark chocolate and caramel sauce respectively. But I did appreciate the visual creativity and the dessert looked almost too good to be eaten. However, the waffle did seem a little limp but credit goes to the consistency in cooking and the crisp edges. Not something I would personally order again for dessert though.

Hot Caramel Lava Cake - This, in my humble opinion, is the star of the entire evening, the pièce de résistance, if you may. Warm, not cloyingly sweet caramel oozing out of a fissure in the soft shell and served with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream coated with crispy flakes. Simply decadent! If you like your chocolate fondants, you should definitely try this.

The both of us literally stuffed ourselves and even had 2 smoothies to round up the meal, all at a cost of about $95. Cheap? Definitely not. The prices of individual items aren't really expensive per se but add everything up and the bill can be a tad alarming. After all, food quality is only slightly above average at best, save for the caramel lava cake. Service wasn't quite up to scratch with periods of inattentiveness.

To sum up, I think &Made offers a decent meal proposition in a nice setting but lacks actual finesse in its food (bar desserts) and service can definitely be improved.

Food aside, the greatest thing about &MADE is the fact that the head chef, Bruno Ménard, is a Michelin-starred chef actually based in Singapore. As a result, &MADE is the first of its kind here and the surprisingly low prices (for a place selling gourmet food) is what makes it so appealing! The duck confit burger (DD - $22) is the best ever. The strips of duck are super tender and extremely flavourful. Also, as usual, I couldn't get enough of the side of truffle fries - sooo awesome!
