On a Public Holiday, the bustling chaos of the usual office crowd is non-existent at the top floor of Far East Plaza. My family & I took this opportunity to go to Susan Chan for lunch. We ordered a stir fried kailan, spinach tofu with enoki mushrooms, fried boneless pork ribs in salted yolk sauce and a Szechuan soup. The bill came up to $38 in total, including 3 plates of rice and 3 glasses of warm barley.

The spinach tofu and enoki mushrooms came in this light brown sauce that was simply heavenly. There is no way to describe it or put it into words but the taste is really heavenly. It has a slight wok-hei to it, and the tofu was also fragrant. The mushrooms were stringy and starchy (Being drenched in the sauce) and the spinach wasn't overcooked. Delicious.

The pork ribs with salted egg yolk sauce is definitely a 5/5. Do ask for the boneless one because it comes with 5 large pork rib fillets, immersed in this salty-sweet sauce. It smells buttery and salty, tastes creamy but not overpowering (you can still taste the crispy skin of the fried pork rib)...topped off with curry leaves served on a bed of lettuce -it's remarkably delicious. Exceeded expectations by a mile.

The stir fried kailan was very tasty, still crisp and very refreshing. The sauce wasn't too heavy and complemented the fresh greens deliciously. We polished the entire plate!!

The soup was thick, but not overly starchy. It was topped with fresh spring onion and chilli oil. When mixed in with the tofu, wood ear and mushrooms in the soup -it becomes a hot soup that packs a punch. It's savoury, served piping hot. One of the best szechuan soups I've drunk! For just $5, this bowl is thick and substantial enough for 3 people to share.

Definitely coming back here again, the food is heavenly -super tasty and well-prepared. Much thought has been put into each dish to make sure the ingredients complement each other perfectly. A holy matrimony of flavours, fusing together in a single dish. Even though we had to wait approx 15 minutes for our food, it was definitely worth the wait.
