Delicious Korean Chinese in Clarke Quay
태우반점
2017-05-15
Jajangmyeon (Blackbean sauce noodle) has always been a common food eaten by Korean. You can practically see the actor and actress eating it in every single show. Being an avid Korean food lover, I have been craving for delicious Jajangmyeon and Tang Su Yuk.  Tae Woo was located in level 3 of The Central. The restaurant was really cosy and quiet to dine in. You will be served the traditional buckwheat tea and Korean side dishes upon seated. Though there isn’t much variety being served in the restaurant, the food was really decently nice.  Upon ordering, the food came within 10 minutes bof wait. We order the Jajangmyeon, tang su yuk and fried dumping to try. The Jajangmyeon’s serving was quite big for this price. For diners with smaller eating capacity can choose order 1 serving and add an additional $2 for extra noodles to share. The combination of chewy noodles with the thick Jajang sauce, it was really mind-blowing. During my visit, every table order this dish. It’s definitely a must order!!  Jajangmyeon ($12) Eating purely Jajangmyeon may be too boring, so why not order some tang su yuk to go with it. The crispy pork served with sweet and sour sauce makes it a very appetizing dish. It makes you crave for more. One tip while eating this dish is to prevent over-coating the pork cubes with the sauceto prevent feeling too “jerlat” (too sick of the dish).  Tang Su Yuk ($26)The fried dumplings are crispy and non-oily. It was great that they are non-oily thus reduces you guilty of eating too oily food. However, the filling within tend to be too little.  Fried Dumplings ($8)If you are craving for decent Korean Chinese food at an affordable price, why not give Tae Woo a try. I believe you would not regret visiting.   Read More: http://jacefootprints.blogspot.sg/2017/05/singapore-tae-woo.html…查看更多

New Level Of Dessert Experience At Rangoon Road
Non Entrée Desserts
2016-09-13
Non Entrée Desserts, a name popular for serving its unique and interesting desserts. It was located in Rangoon Road where there are an uprising number of cafes sprucing up in the same vicinity. It takes about 10 minute walk from Farrer Park Mrt station.Non Entrée Desserts was located beside a condominium, away from the rest of the café. It has a very brightly-coloured door for easy recognition. It does not have any fanciful interior, only simple decoration that gives an industrial vibe.  You will be tempted by the prettily decorated cakes in the display. This is what happen to my friend and I, hoping that we have enough tummy and money to indulgence in these delights. There are also a variety of ice cream flavour for diner to choose . In this café, it serves only desserts and beverage. There is a wide selection of desserts to choose – Cakes, waffles, ice cream, etc. I love how they display their menu. It was in a photo frame for easy referencing and acts as a decoration. We have order a Matcha Avalanche, a Rubber Ducky, a lemon tart and a pot of tea (Sakura) to share. Despite the place being crowded, it was not noisy. You can have a easy time having small talks and chill around with friends.Rubber Ducky consists of wrapped “exotic ducky sorbet” with the crème fraiche pudding. It was topped with chewy sago pearls and fresh mango puree. To create the bubbles for the rubber duck to swim in, the cloud was made from lemongrass. The entire desserts taste like a mango sorbet within a pudding. Delicious and sour~ Love the cute presentation of this dessert.Lemon Tart was pretty decent. The tart base was crispy and buttery. The baked lemon custard was sweet and sour. A nice blend of sweet-sour taste. Those big white droplets are actually solidified sugar. As we are not a fan of overly sweet food, we removed these droplets before consuming.Matcha Avalanche was our favourite. The cake was soft and fluffy. Upon cutting, thick and warm matcha lava oozes out of the cake. You can even see red beans within. Love this slightly bitter and sweet dessert.  In case you are wondering what was included in the dessert, it consists of warm matcha green tea lava with azuki beans flowing onto smokey roasted green tea gelato, crunchy almond nougatine and chocolate soil.Non Entrée Desserts really serve cute and delicious desserts. Despite it being slightly in accessible, I will definitely revisit for their yummy desserts.  …查看更多

Tai Cheong Bakery - Famous Hong Kong Egg Tarts
泰昌餅家
2016-09-13
For anyone visit Hong Kong would definitely has heard about Tai Cheong Bakery which is super famous for their egg tarts. They have opened a permanent store at Takashimaya’s food hall on 1 July 2016.Just like the famous Jenny Biscuit from Hong Kong, Tai Cheong has drawn crowd queuing for it too.Tai Cheong Bakery sells three different product- Egg Tarts, Chicken Pie and Cocktail Bun. The Egg Tarts in Singapore goes for $7.60 for 4 pieces, Chicken Pie $2.80 per piece and Cocktail Bun at $1.80 per pieceAlthough Tai Cheong Bakery is not Halal-Certified; it contains no pork or lard. I must say, the egg tart was really delicious and make me craving for more. My friend queues for 45 mins for these delights. The tart base was really buttery and crispy while the egg custard was softy and yummy. It was fragrant and not too sweet. The combination is fabulous.  These delights really worth your calories and money. They are delicious and consider “cheap” for their taste.  Read more at http://jacefootprints.blogspot.sg/2016/09/singapore-tai-cheong-bakery.htmlFollow me: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jacefootprints/Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/jacefootprints…查看更多

Masizzim - Korean Riceballs, Stews And Egg Roll At
마시찜
2016-09-13
Masizzim, which specialize in Korean meat stews and pancakes has reached Singapore. Masizzim means delicious stew.  It is conveniently located in 313 Somerset. There is a variety of Korean food to choose from – rice balls, Korean stew, Egg roll and more...The entire dining space was spacious with kpop songs being played throughout. By about 9pm, you will realize that the staff would be starting to clean up the placeKorean Signature Stew is their specialties given their shop name. To order their stew, it is simple.Step 1: Choose beef, pork or spicy chickenStep 2: Soy or Spicy from Levels 1 to 4Step 3: Choose noodles – Korean style udon or glass noodlesStep 4: Choose optional add ons such as cheese, toppoki, or extra noodles In this visit, we have chosen the spicy chicken stew with spicy level of 1 with glass noodles. I must say that the stew is very different from those served in other Korean restaurants as this version was much drier. You can scoop out any soup. In the stew, it consist of toppokki, chicken, glass noodles and radish. The meats are well marinated and tender. The glass noodles were my favourite as they are chewy, soft and springy~ I would prefer a more soupy version.  The Korean stew comes with two bowls of brown rice. To quench our thirst, we have order a grapefruit yogurt. It comes with alcohol version or non-alcohol. For us, we have chosen the non-alcoholicversion.  The taste was really refreshing. It tastes sweet with tinge of sourness from the yogurt. The serving was also huge as it allows us to pour six small cups. Value for $$ for taste and huge serving. Many of my friends are egg lovers, so we have ordered Tuna Seaweed Egg Roll  and Honey Mustard Cheese Egg Roll. The egg roll was really soft and fragrant. For the tuna seaweed version, it was drizzled with ketchup sauce. Within the egg roll, it was filled with tuna and seaweed. The tuna and seaweed generally taste bland, but the ketchup helps to enhance the taste. My favourite egg roll goes to honey mustard cheese egg roll. The honey mustard sauce makes the egg roll tastes more moisturize while the cheese within give a chewy texture. It was a good combination. Food always tastes nicer when you are involved in the making. That’s why we have chosen the Crabmeat & Roe Rice Ball & Anchovy Rice Ball to try.  You will be served with a bowl rice together with the ingredients. The steps to making the rice balls are easy. Step 1: Put On GlovesStep 2: Mix WellStep 3: Mould into Rice balls and enjoy. Both rice ball taste great. For the crabmeat and roe version, you can taste bit of crabmeat in each rice ball. For the anchovy rice balls, you can taste anchovy in each bite. The anchovy is crispy and slightly more salty thus it gives more flavour and texture. This is also the reason why I prefer anchovy. All in all, it is worth visiting Masizzim for a try of different style of Korean cuisine in a cozy, convenient and spacious dining space. Read more at http://jacefootprints.blogspot.sg/2016/09/singapore-masizzim.htmlFollow me:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jacefootprints/Intsagram: http://www.instagram.com/jacefootprints…查看更多

Hidden Cafe Near NUS Clementi
Cheng's Gourmet Food Bar
2016-06-17
Cheng's Gourmet Food Bar is located along the same stretch of shophouses which is a popular night-owl haunt like Fong Seng Nasi Lemak, Al Amaan… It was great news for students studying at NUS or living in Clementi area. It was located just beside the kent Ridge Bus Terminal. The café has undergone a recent revamp.  I love how quiet and cosy the place gives. You do not have to rush your meals and you have the luxury to have catch-up session over at the cafe. There are two different menu – morning and evening to offer a larger variety of food. After a struggle of trying to decide what to eat, we set down for Smoked Duck Quesadillas, Yuan-Yang Fries, Gula-Mela Hotcakes and Ultraviolet Floral Cooler.  Ultraviolet Floral Cooler ($6.20) was really gorgeous. It changes colour from sapphire blue, to purplish pink upon mixing in the ice. The drink has sweet and tangy flavour. I believe it is the lemon juice on the ice that helps change the acidity of the drink. Smoked Duck Quesadillas ($14) was one of our favourite.  The cheey coupled with thin slices of smoked duck was really delicious. It tastes really great as the smoked duck does not have a very “raw duck taste” and the meat was really tender. Yuan-Yang Fries ($14) consist of truffle fries and sweet potato fries. It gives us the best of both worlds. The fries were crispy and well-marinated. We preferred the sweet potato fries as it is sweeter and crispier.Gula-Mela Hotcakes ($14.50) is another delicious yummy dish. The pancake was thick and fluffy. Couple with the Gula Melaka sauce, it was heavenly. Best of all, it was does not give a “jerlat” feel. West-side residents don’t miss out this “hidden café”. It serves really delicious food in a cosy environment.Read more at http://jacefootprints.blogspot.sg/2016/06/singapore-chengs-gourmet-food-bar.html…查看更多

NEW ICE CREAM PALOUR IN CBD TANONG PAGAR AREA
5 The Moments
2016-06-01
5 The Moment ice cream palour was a recent addition to Central Business district (CBD) tanjong pagar. It not only served yummy desserts such as ice cream, waffles, cakes and brownies, they are also specialized in taking couples shoot. It was basically a mixture of café and photo studio. It has a mix of local and Europe Vintage style decoration. Over at the counter and the ice cream display, it feels as though you have stepped into a time machine which travels you back to the 60s. The layout and display resembles the provision shops selling old school snacks and candies. To tempt the diner with their yummy goodies, phoctorial display of these delights were hang at the wall for easy reference. They serve a variety of yummy ice cream for your selection. As it is a photo studio, it showcases a variety of vintage camera as a form of decoration. They have greatly utilized the space to create a cosy environment for the diners. I’m not sure if you can recognize, some of the tables located near the wall are actually sewing machine which was converted to serve as a table. On the first visit, we have order the waffles with the dark truffle ice cream. As it is a premium flavour, it required additional $1. The second visit, we took a double scoop (Peanutella & dark truffle). The ice cream was really creamy and smooth. Best of all, they are not overly sweet. The peanutella was a mixture of peanut butter and nutella. This savory sweet ice cream was an interesting flavour for us. I have always been a peanut butter love, so it kind of satisfies my need. The dark truffle ice cream was my favourite! It was really rich in chocolate taste. It has bitter sweet which makes it out choice as it prevents us from getting too sick of eating it. Double Scoop: $8.80 + $1 for Premium Ice creamThe rectangular butter waffles was crispy and fluffy. It has a very light buttery taste. Coupled with the dark truffle ice cream, it was heavenly! I strongly recommend the dark truffle ice cream for its bitter sweet , rich and creamy taste!!Waffles + Gelato: $10.80 + $1 for Premium Ice creamGelato Lovers, popped by and have a try of these delights Follow Me At Instagram/Facebook: @jacefootprints…查看更多

PRETTY BERRY RICOTTA HOTCAKE IN PRINSEP STREET
Curious Palette
2016-05-31
Curious Palette, known for its pretty berry ricotta hotcake, was the latest café opened by the same people behind Stranger’s Reunion & Strangers At Work. It was established at Prinsep Street. You will need a little effort in finding the place as it does not have a signboard. This two stories café could possibly seat about 200 pax. It was really popular and get really crowded during weekend. It would be recommended to make a reservation prior to visiting. It has a very simple interior design with white finishing and plywood tables. Simple yet chic. It was really comfortable dining experience despite the noisiness and long wait .Berry Ricotta Hotcake was really soft, fluffy and thick. You will get sick of eating it if you are consuming it alone. It was best shared. It was topped with strawberries, blueberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It was too pretty not to instagram this dish. Berry Ricotta Hotcake ($14.90)The Salty-sweet and crunchy sweet potato fries really delights us. It was great for sharing. The truffles smell was also rich. Truffled Sweet Potato Fries ($12.90)Tender well-marinated pork topped with crispy sourdough makes this dish overwhelming. We love how juicy the pulled pork was.Pulled Pork On Sourdough ($18.90)Soft Shell Crab Burger was pretty delicious. It comes with generous serving of wasabi slaw, homemade aioli, avocado and petit salad. The soft shell crab was crispy and crunchy. Soft Shell Crab Burger ($19.80)The portobello & Truffled Scrambled egg comes with pesto, semi-dried tomatoes, petit salad and multigrain. The scrambled eggs were soft and creamy with tinge of truffles smell. I personally find this dish fairly normal. Portobello & Truffled Scrambled Eggs ($18.50)…查看更多

JAPANESE CAFE IN PARAGON
Café&Meal MUJI
2016-05-31
Popular Japanese concept store, Muji, bring their first café in Singapore Paragon. The Japanese cafe is adjacent to their current merchandise store in the mall, attracting many visitors to drop by and have a try of their Japanese food. In the cafe, everything from utensils to the furniture were sold in Muji concept store. They are simple but pretty. There are many food selections - from cold dish to mains to desserts. To order food, it is very simple. Firstly, get a metal tag to reserve your seats follow by queuing for the food. The food was displayed in the glass shelves as seen below. This appetizing food could tempt you greatly while queuing. We had our dinner before visiting so we are here for desserts. We have ordered Matcha Cheese Cake With Sesame Ice Cream ($7.90), Roasted Tea Pudding ($5.40), Thick Omelette With Japanese-Style Mushroom ($2.80) and Iced Mojito Squash ($5.90). Matcha Cheese Cake With Sesame Ice Cream: The cheesecake was soft, creamy and light. The matcha taste was rich but not over-powered, having no bitter aftertaste. Sesame ice cream helped to match the taste of the cheese cakes by creating a contrasting temperature for the food. Really love this dish for its rich but not over-powering taste. Matcha Cheese Cake With Sesame Ice Cream ($7.90)Thick Omelette With Japnese –Style Mushroom is a cold appetizer. Thick Omelette contains crunchy peas and mushroom slices within. For egg-lover, it will definitely satisfy your egg craving as it was delicious.Thick Omelette With Japanese-Style Mushroom ($2.80) Roasted Tea Pudding was soft and rich in the tea fragrant. It was not to my liking as perhaps I was expecting the pudding to be more solidified and colder. But I guess it was just my personal preference.Roasted Tea Pudding ($5.40)Iced Mojito Squash was really refreshing. The citrus-sweet taste from the mint syrup, lime and lemon help to remove any greasy feel in your mouth.Iced Mojito Squash ($5.90)All in all, muji café was a place with delicious and affordable Japanese food. It was a place for chilling provided that you avoid the lunch/dinner peak hours.…查看更多

Freshly Baked Cakes and Biscuits In Telok Blangah
Out Of The Cake Box
2016-05-23
Out of the Cake Box is a small patisserie that had opened in 2014. It was located in telok blangah neighbourhood, selling freshly baked cakes and biscuits complemented with gourmet coffee and tea. It is conveniently located opposite to the telok blangah mrt, making it very accessible to visit. It not only sells freshly baked cakes and biscuits, it also offers dessert bar services and conduct baking and decorating workshops. The entire café was small with simple white finishing. There are two tables indoor to provide diners with the ability to have high tea and desserts. To cater to more customers, there is a outdoor seating table. We visit during a Sunday afternoon, 1 hour before the closing time, so many of the cakes were sold out by then. I managed to call in to reserve the hot selling mango sticky rice cake.Since cakes are expected to be on a sweet side, one can compliment it with coffee and tea to prevent the taste from feeling too sick of the taste. The biscuits are really popular as during our time dining there, we witness a few customers visiting the café just to buy the biscuits. After a couple of failed attempt, we finally try their famous mango sticky rice cakes ($6). In addition, we managed to try Belgian Truffle ($6.50), B.B.C.C ($5.50) and Millionaire’s Tart ($6). B.B.C.C is a very interesting cake. It was a fusion between the traditional local dessert, Bo Bo Cha Cha and the ice-cream wafer biscuits. To create the bo bo cha cha taste, soft and jelly-like purple sweet potato mousse were sandwiches by the wafer biscuits and like fluffy sponge cake. Within the mousse, it was topped with yam, honey sweet potato and colourful jellies. The sweet –smelling coconut taste from the mousse helps to value-add the taste. It was a seasonal item so taste it when it is in stock. B.B.C.C ($5.50) Photo credit: Out Of The Cake BoxMillionaire's tart contains a rich, buttery short crust base that is topped off with luscious sea-salt caramel. A generous layer of slow-baked chocolate custard made from a blend of quality Belgium chocolate and dark chocolate makes the tart chocolaty but not overly sweet. It was really delicious. Millionaire’s Tart ($6).Photo credit: Out Of The Cake BoxDark chocolate truffle filling sandwich layers of moist chocolate sponge makes the cakes really rich. OMG!! Really love at first bite. It was rich and bitter-sweet. Although it was sinfuldesserts but I don’t regret indulging in this delight. Belgian Truffle ($6.50)The mango sticky rice cake was made using only Thai Honey Mangoes when they are in season. The mango was really sweet and sour. This cake encompasses slightly salty coconut glutinous rice, sweet mango jelly and pandan mousse. It really creates a mixture of hard and soft in this cake - Softness from the jelly and fluffy sponge cake and hardness from the sticky rice. This item was seasonal due to the Thai mango. Love the texture and interesting flavor.Mango Sticky Rice ($6)Layers of the mango sticky cakeDespite the small retail store, it serves really interesting and yummy cake. Locating at highly accessible yet quiet place helps to provide a hideout from the busyness of the city. If you are keen, you can even go for courses too.Follow Me At Instagram/ Facebook: @jacefootprints…查看更多

HAKKA DELIGHTS
梅村酒家
2016-05-19
Plum Village, located along Upper Thomson Road, has been selling authentic hakka food. It is probably the restaurant that has the most comprehensive menu of hakka delights.Mummy’s birthday is round the corner so we decided to bring her to eat her favourite food – Hakka delights since my family are all hakka. Abacus Seed ( 算盘子 ) is made up of yam and tapioca flour. Yam was being steams and mashed up before adding in tapioca flour. It was then roll into small little balls with the centre being indent in. It was shaped in this way signifying reunion and signifies wealth. In most of the shops selling abacus seeds, it was mixed with more tapioca flour so as to save cost and to increase chewiness. But in Plum Village, more yams were added (similar to household making method), giving it a denser texture yet a stronger yam fragrant. Mushroom, carrots and minced meat was stirred fried with it. It would have been better with more mushroom , carrot and minced meat was added.Preserved vegetable with porkbelly 梅菜扣肉 served in plum village was disappointing. This is because the pork belly was slightly dry and wasn’t tender. The dish was not salty enough. Usually this dish tends to be more salty as the preserved vegetable was braised with the pork belly over long period of time to enhance the pork belly taste. This process brings out the saltiness within the preserved vegetable. Broccolis were stirred fried with oyster sauce. It was remarkable that the broccolis were still crunchy and green because it was usually very soft and soggy when I purchase these dish elsewhere. Sea Cucumber Stir Fried with Snow Peas 海参炒扁豆 was my dad favourite dish as he say that the sea cucumber was very nutritious. The sea cucumber was springy and chewy. It was well marinated and braised with oyster sauce. Homemade Beancurd ( 家乡豆腐) was my favourite dish as the beancurd use was very smooth, coupled with the slightly salty minced meat and mushroom, it helps to appetite me. The fried prawns in Hakka wine (红槽虾球) was something my mum missed greatly. It was something that my past grandma regularly cooks. The prawn was stirred fried in red glutinous wine. The taste was not something most can appreciate. It tasted like sweet beer. I found it slightly diluted but the prawn used was fresh.Meatball and cabbage soup taste really normal like those we can cook at home. But it is worth mentioning that the meatball was well marinated. We order this dish as we wanted something to drink since in plum village, the only available beverage was coke and Chinese tea.Prawn and meat roll (五香) was pretty decent. It was crispy and not oily. They are all handmade from scratch. Hakka Yong Tau Fu (客家酿豆腐) is a must –try item for people visiting hakka restaurant. Fried beancurd was stuffed with meat fillings before steaming it. It was tasty. If you are looking for decent hakka food, you can popped by to plum village. The food was pretty decent but do not keep your expectation too high as the food are labour-intensive so the quality might varies. Follow me at instagram / facebook : @jacefootprints…查看更多

EGGLET WAFFLES WITH ICE CREAM AT TAI SENG
Supermilk
2016-05-19
SUPERMILK – ARTISAN ICE CREAM & KITCHEN. It is located at in Commerze@Irving situated at Tai Seng. We find the place the commerze very happening as there are many cafes in a row. All these cafes have one common trademark – Tinted-black windows and closed door. From the outside, you might think that all these stalls are closed for the day but in fact, they are not. Direction to go to Commerze from TaiSeng Mrt will be shared later. After having dinner at 优饭 (which is situated beside the Supermilk), we decided to have desserts. Scanning through the menu from different stalls, we settle for supermilk. I must say that the owner was friendly. We visited the place at about 8pm where there is no other customers around. They served us ice water which we browse through the menu. They even went on to introduce their specialties. From the menu, “bubble waffles” caught my eyes as I simply have no idea how it will look or taste. Special Lunch dealsTheir MenuCosy EnvironmentThe orange lighting coupled with soothing music played in the café creates a very chilled and cosy environment to be in. After a short wait, the bubble waffle arrived on our table!!! Thisis when I realized that bubble waffle referred to the egglet waffle. The bubble waffle was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy in the inside creating a contrasting taste texture. Furthermore, the waffle was topped with chocolate syrup, cereals, love letters and mini marshmallow. Personally, I find the waffles too dry for my liking, would be better if they are more generous with chocolate syrup or provide some maple syrupto go with it.Bubble Waffle ( $10.90) . There is no gst & service charge in thiscafeDirection To Café:From Exit A, Turn left and you will see this construction site. Follow the arrow andyou will see Commerze@Irving. NEW CAFE IN JALAN BERSAH
20F Specialty Coffeehouse
2016-05-19
20F Specialty Coffeehouse has joined in the crowd in the café street at Jalan Besah. It opens its doors in November 2015 where it starts to draw crowds to visit them. 20F Specialty Coffeehouse offers smooth and creamy nitro coffee from Liberty Coffee, beer and cocktails at night. After some time not seeing my bestie, we decided to pay 20F a visit where we neverregret bursting our calories there. Despite being small and compact, café allow diners to free ease and relax. The place was not noisy even when it is at its full capacity. In many small and crowded café, the staff would help to facilitate the crowd by somehow stressing the diners who finish their meals to leave soon by keep clearing their place and asking if they want to have any other items for consumption. In 20F, they do not practise this method, giving diners the freedom to chill. Cakes BarI have enclosed a menu for brunch below for your easy reference. I believe that they have different set of menu for brunch and dinner. MENUWe have order three of their specialties - Matcha Green Tea Cake, 20F Iced Coffee and Pulled Pork Benedict ($18). We do not have any stomach space for the house lemon curd cake, so we have to give it a miss.Matcha Green Tea Cake ($5.80), 20F Iced Coffee ($6.50) , Pulled Pork Benedict ($18)Matcha Green Tea Cake ($5.80): The matcha sponge cake was moist and light coupled with the rich and thick matcha mousse, the taste was amazing. Although matcha mousee has a slightly bitter after taste, it still tastes great as it prevents the cakes from overly sweet. 20F Iced Coffee ($6.50): This drink comprises of rich vanilla bean ice cream with cold milk and an intense shot of double espresso. It helps to satisfy sweet tooth and coffee kicks. Pulled Pork Benedict ($18): Generous serving of the pulled pork was spread on top of the lightly toasted brioche with two poached eggs drenched in hollandaise sauce. Upon cutting the poached eggs, burst out almost instantaneously. The streams of yolk, moisturizes the slightly dry pulled pork. This is definitely my favourite. You don’t often get to see café selling pulled pork benedict so I strong recommend that you try this main if you popped by. Not forgetting the soft and fluffy matcha cake... It’s heavenly. If you are not interested with getting a main or desserts, why not chill with a cuppa coffee Follow me at instagram / facebook : @jacefootprints…查看更多

FRENCH AND AMERICAN PASTRIES
Two Bakers
2016-05-19
From a home-based bakery, Two bakers has landed foot at jalan besar café hotspot, serving French and American pastries that are lovingly handcrafted and baked fresh daily in the cafe by Le Cordon Bleu Paris trained chef. Two Bakers were located stones away from tiramisu hero, window by the sills and bravery café. We were greeted with a most attractive cake display. The entire café has great ambiance. It was really a nice place to chill and relax. The beautiful cakes barThe entire café was really spacious as seen below. The sablee was used to create the tender, buttery crust filled with the yuzu lemon curd. It was sour sweet curd appetizes us for more cakes, but we have to be careful with our calories intake for fear of being fat. Le Chocolat Noir ($9.80) & Yuzu Lemon Tart ($7.80)Le Chocolat Noir was made up of 55% dark chocolate mousse with hazelnut and praline feuilletine base. The mousse was rich and smooth while the hazelnut and praline base was crunchy. Love the match between them. Layers of different texture within the noirFollow me at instagram / facebook : @jacefootprints…查看更多

SHIBUYA TOAST & ICE CREAM
Archipelago Creamery
2016-05-19
Archipelago Creamery is one ice-cream parlour that had recently sprouted in the Nanyang neighbourhood at Jurong West, housed within the grounds of Nanyang Community Centre. It has opened its door about one week ago. This ice cream palor is a good hideout from the hot and sunny weather. It is a few minutes walk from pioneer mrt and stone away from many schools and institute such as NTU, thus you will spot many students during the day. The café has a white interior with nautical themed using anchor as its main focus.Credit: Archipelago CreameryCredit: Archipelago CreameryThe menu can be easily read from the colourful chalkboard hang at the ice cream fridge. The menu can be easily read from the colourful chalkboard hang at the ice cream fridge. We went here for two different instant so that we can try their shibuya toast as well as waffles. We have order the Strawberry & Chocolate Flavour Shibuya Toast. It comes with whipped cream, fresh strawberries, thick toast two scoop of vanilla ice cream (it was kind of fixed) and drizzled with chocolate Sauce. After trying the Famous Shibuya Toast from After You, Bangkok, I find that the toast here needs to be toasted slightly longer, as it was not crispy enough. The inner of the toast was soft and fluffy thus if the outer is more crispy, it would helps to create the taste texture. When you cut open the toast, you will be able to discover nicely cut bread toast within. The ice cream was smooth and creamy with the presence of vanilla beans. Strawberries & Chocolate Shibuya Toast ($14.80)Charcoal waffle happens to be the daily special for that day when we revisit the place. So we order the charcoal waffles with double scoop. For premium flavor, add $1 to each scoop. I find that the charcoal waffle was not thick and fluffy enough, perhaps due to the small scoop of batter being used. Nevertheless, the side was crispy. The pistachio and the blueberries ice cream were great as they are fragrant and creamy. Charcoal Waffle ( Daily Special, $5) + Double Scoop ( $6.50) + 2 premium flavor ($2)The Lychee moroccan rose tea was interesting. You can smell light aroma of rose couple when drinking the sweet black tea. The lychee gives a very light after taste in our mouth after drinking.Lychee moroccan rose ($7)Westside-er no longer need to travel far to enjoy ice creams and shibuya toast. This neighborhood hideout can definitely be your alternative choice.Follow me at Instagram/ Facebook: @jacefootprints…查看更多

Ice Cream Palor With Rabbit Owl Theme
Rabbit Owl Depot
2016-05-19
Located opposite National Library, Rabbit OwlDepot has specialize in handcrafted ice cream has opened its door in October 2014.Snowflakes waffles, artisan ice cream, tarts and coffee in this café where itstheme is owl and rabbit. You will be greeted with mini owl and rabbit toys at everycorner, complimented with diy wooden chairs and tables. In search for something sweet after our dinner,we chanced upon rabbit and owl depot. It was on a weekday night so we kind ofhave the whole place to ourselves. After trying various flavor, we settled withpistachio ice cream and strawberry cheesecake. To know what the palor is serving, all you have to do is to look at the menu hang at the wall. They do not have paper menu for you to look at. *Update* I have recently went back on April 16, 2016. The environment still looks the same, cosy as previous. Now, they have the menu at the table for diners to look at. Newly added menu place at the table.Newly added menu place at the table.Newly added menu place at the table.Like any other ice cream, they have various flavors for you to choose from and sample before purchase. The boss was very friendly and patient with us as we really took a very long time deciding and literally try every single flavor available. In this pistachio ice cream, the pistachio nut flavor is strong perhaps the nuts were lightly roasted before being added to the ice cream, thus the sweet smelling fragrance. The ice cream was really creamy, smooth and milky. Strawberry cheesecake ice cream has always been one of my favourite ice cream flavor. Here, the strawberry cheesecake was also creamy and the tinge of strawberry jam could be detected It was worth mentioning that the snowflake waffles were delicious. The hot, crispy and fluffy waffles sprinkled with icing sugar on top compliment the ice cream a lot. However, I find that the serving was tiny. Waffles with our Pistachio & Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream*Update* The pistachio ice cream still taste great! This time we have decided to go for thai milk tea ice cream. It was really delicious. It was as though you are drinking the sweet milky tea down your throat, except this is in the form of ice cream. *Updated* Waffles with our Pistachio & Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream *Update* I notice that the palour started selling prawn crackers. We are allowed to sample it and I like it greatly as it was crispy yet not oily. Utensils and complimentary drink for the dinersDespite the palour being small in size, it was actually quite cosy and suitable place for meet-up session due to its decent ice creams, highly accessible location as well as quietness of the café.
