The atmosphere was quite cozy, I did like the place upon walking in.The ice cream was okay, good for a warm day, but I don't think it beats Ben and Jerry's! The nuts were a nice side with the ice cream, the little bit of crunch was great. I recommend their chocolate ice cream — creamy and who doesn't love chocolate?!

Service seems slow or rather, maybe due to the timing I visit(10+pm), the service attendance seems slacken. And took really their own sweet time to attend to both my friend and I. Bad impression number 2.

Like I say, the only attractive part is the 50% discount for desserts and cakes.

One of my favourite dishes from cafe cartel is their carbonara. The carbonara saw is creamy and tasty especially after the egg yolk has been stirred in. The fragrance of the carbonara makes one unable to get enough of it. The bacon is savoury and blends together well with the sauce and the noodles. Delicious! One serving costs about $13. I will definitely be back for more.

My Groupon order also came with a coconut banana split aka cocona split. A little disappointed with the service for a start as they forgot my sundae despite me telling them I've waited quite a while. Though I'm having ribs, I was not given a side plate as well. I had to top up my own plain water as well after seeing no initiative from the staff to do so. The honey glaze lost out in terms of taste to the black pepper sauce one. Serving is pretty big though. As its glazed style, it looks like the ribs are coated with honey. The sides of french fries and coleslaw are pretty average. Fortunately the coconut sundae did gave it a refreshing end with its unique taste, different from the usual vanilla banana split we try. The regular rib costs $15.60.

I went back to cafe cartel with a groupon that comprise of Pork ribs, and coconut sundae. A bad thing about cafe cartel is that, the staffs are quite inattentive to customers, and its hard to catch their attention. I had the honey glazed ribs, which took quite a long time to come, by which I was starving! The ribs are up to their usual standard, quite well prepared. The coconut ice cream tasted very rich, and not for someone who is on a diet.

Even though there are quite many service staffs here, their service was abit slow and unattentive. Even order a cup of iced water will take them almost fifteen minutes to serve it to my table. I have ordered my all time favourite chicken cutlets, which are crispy on the outer layer and soft on the inner part. The mashed potato is also very smooth and soft in texture. The sauce used in this dish is also flavourful and not too salty. Very tasty, two thumbs up!

After they stopped their free flow of home made bread, we ordered a basket of garlic bread everytime we have breakfast there.

Firstly, the menu was improved and changed but being too colorful i get confused. The menu was ok as it provided a different array of various dishes.

We shared meatballs in cheese served in a casserole bowl. Not too bad... the cheese was complimenting the meatballs.

I had of a plate of chicken sausage spaghetti. I am a very critical friend of pasta and it must be served nicely. This was ok and i had nothing to complain with. It was served with a bowl of soup.. 4 peuny pieces of bread and hot tea served then and there for an additional $3.90.

Secondly, we were both supposed to share a double scoop of ice cream but... they came in one scoop as the runner forgot the scooping so the manager gave us another scoop for free.

We were not too pleased with that but hey life goes on!

Overall dining experience 6/10

The Cafe Cartel serves breakfast sets with free flow of tea/coffee during weekends and public holidays, from about 8:30am till 11:30am. Upon order the meal, I was served a mini sweet bun, and my coffee is nowhere seen . I have to literally request for coffee. After a short while, coffee is served. It tastes Ok, and the staffs will go around refilling the drink when they see empty cup (not self-service like fast-food chain). I waited half an hour or so for my Ultimate delight ($7.50++), which includes the egg, chicken hotdogs, a pancake and two French toasts. The scrambled egg is alright, quite moist, chicken hotdog is good. Frech toast is a not toasted enough, and the pancake is quite dry as a whole, as no butter or syrup is being served.

I think for many, the main highlight for cafe cartel is the barbecued ribs. So I decide to go try it. When it was served, the meal looks impressive. The meat looks juicy. However, after the first bite, I immediately regret it. The meat is dry and hard to bite. This is especially so for the meat that is on the outside. Those in the middle are relatively ok. I like the sauce that came with the ribs though. But I won't try this again.

We happened to pass by this place and decided to go in for some desserts. They were prompt to serve us ice water and menu. The dessert menu was not very impressing, and the waffle ice cream looks the best among them. Undoubtedly, we ordered the waffle. The ice cream was smooth, not too sweet, and was a nice complement to the waffle. There was chocolate fudge on one waffle too.

My friends and I had a gathering at café cartel. I looked at their menu, my friend recommended me to the hot pasta. I decided to try their smoked duck cooked with tom yum sauce pasta. the smoked duck is really delicious. The meat is not very tender, it has some chewy factor which taste very delicious. The tom yum sauce however did not taste spicy. It taste a little like tomato sauce but somehow it taste really good. the macaroni is cooked really well, not overcooked and taste very chewy.
