However, I thought the filling looked a bit lonely - it would have been nice if they had increased the portion of the ingredients so that one can really sink his or her teeth into it! The one I had in Vietnam was extremely crispy but the one I had was more like a softer bread.

The place has a fast-food concept, eat and throw. I like to say that it is like the French version of Subway.
I recommend this if you want a healthy option, it's very well balanced with a bit of everything from every food group; no deep-fried items (is that why the Vietnamese women are so slim?) and also if you need a quick bite. It's more manageable than a sub and very easy to eat on-the-go.

I first tried the Bánh mì from Baguette at their outlet in Raffles City about 5 years ago. I'm relieved to report that the one I had from Square 2 recently ensures that good memories about Baguette are not marred. Quite frankly, the difference between the two sandwiches is only the filling - either ham & pâté or grilled pork with crunchy sour marinated vegetables (carrot & daikon), fresh parsley and cucumber slices.

As a result, the filling is important.

Baguette does quite a good grilled pork - flavourful, decently moist and tender. I could have done with more pieces though as the vegetables were threatening to take centre stage.
Similarly, the ham and pâté were tasty with just the right amount of saltiness, working wonderfully together with the sour crunch of the vegetable sticks, but, a little lacking in the quantity department.

I must comment too that the portion size seems to have shrunk - not just the filling but the size of the bun itself.

I didn't order it this time, but do try their signature drink, the Soda Chanh ($1.90), if you're there. It's fizzy and refreshing - definitely a sweet treat to perk you up!

It was really empty when I was there on a Saturday evening at about 6.30pm - my husband and I were the only customers! I do hope the office crowd sustains the business on weekdays during lunch hour given that their outlets are far and few.

Having some fairly pleasant meals so far at the Baguette, I came down for dinner, this time round having noodles. The caramel glazed chicken noodles taste just exactly like the glazed caramel pork just a little tougher texture that’s all. The noodles were a surprise for me as it had a little tint of sweetness in it.

Came across this small little cafe with a pax seating of around 20 pax. A little cozy if not for non wall partitions along the escalator. Ordered a Vietnamnese Curry Chicken Rice dish. Rather small portion for a guy. Chicken is very tender. Side dish vegetables taste nice, slightly sour and sweet. Their curry sauce is quite strong of coconut and the lemongrass makes it smell fragrant.
