Dessert: Desserts were pretty standard, but I probably shouldnt have chosen cheesecake since by then, I was already super full. On the contrary, milk pudding was kind of exotic, you either like it or hate it, I guess.

Service is good, the staffs are very friendly and knowlegdable, they will recommend which is the best on the menu. The price is SGD 70 per pax and it is absolutely reasonable for the 7 course of fine dining yes i am talking about fine dining here.

Here are the photos that I took during dinner
Hope you guys enjoy

Dozo is a well known restaurant situated in River Valley that offers set meals; similar concept to Tao's/Zero Zero. I went for dinner and had a pretty good experience. Beef Tataki with shaved parmesan and truffle mayo mosaic – Initial impression was like a red meat tower of beautiful marbling where the princess of taste is held hostage therefore we need to rescue her by eating our way through. Applying a thin layer of truffle mayo evenly on the beef enhances the taste as it melts in the mouth easily barely any effort chewing.

Foie Gras Chawanmushi topped with black truffle slice – combination of highest ranking ingredients (Foie Gras and Truffle) in Western Cuisine fused into a simple small Japanese steamed egg dish in the hands of skilled chefs creates a wow factor on how balanced it tastes, ingredients doesn’t overpower each other and blends together just fine.

Dozo’s freshly baked warm chocolate cake with ice cream – also known as Molten/Lava cake with some people, luscious and gooey warm chocolate oozes out from the moist and dense rich chocolate cake, pairing off with a contrast of temperatures to the creamy and light vanilla icecream pulls the final curtains to this amazing dining experience.

Fruity drink was served in shotglasses before our meal.
While waiting for our food, we nibbled on the crispy somen sticks of different flavour.

Hubby's Gratinated Escargots topped with Yuzu butter
Took one escargot and it was quite meaty and chewy, left me craving for more!

Infusion of cepes mushroom and truffle
The staff explained to me that I was supposed to chew the truffle first before drinking the soup. However, the truffle was so thin that I could hardly taste any favour out of it. Didn't really matter as the mushroom soup was thick and tasty.

Beef Tenderloin on "pu-ye" and granite hot stone
I was really impressed with this main course in terms of presentation and taste. The beef was really tender and you could still cook the beef slices on the hot stones if you find them too raw.

For dinner, there will be an additional 1 course of cold dish. However, in terms of price, it will cost $20++ more than the 6-course lunch set. For our lunch set, it cost $93.70 for 2 including service charge and GST.

I had the Beef Tenderloin on Hot Stone and the presentation of it scored an Ace to me. The hard work from the chef pays off as not only it looks pretty, it taste awesome as well. The beef tenderloin is soft and not chewy, done-ness of it is pretty well obtained. The hot stone doesn't overcooked the beef at all and you will know the chef grabs hold of the timing well. It does cost a bomb dining here but for the quality of the food, I wouldn't mind going back at all next time.

Appreciated fresh seafood (scallops and prawns) and meats (beef and lamb) are done just nice, not too raw or overly cooked...I love how the food was not just well presented, Extremely value for money!!

Overall a great experience and surely will be there for special occasions, i will definitely be there again soon!!

Infusion of Cepes Mushroom with Truffle
This soup is just meh for the BF. He thought it tasted just like any mushroom soup in an ordinary restaurant.

Crab Bisque Cappuccino style
Nothing special about this too. It tasted like the crab bisque I had in some random restaurant. But still, I like it because it's Crab Bisque!!! I'm not sure why this dish was named ...cappuccino style. Could it be because this was presented in a mini looking cup? Or was there supposed to have some lingering cappuccino taste?

BF's Beef Tenderloin on Pu-Ye and Granite
rather forgettable. So is the the tempura spaghetti. It is more suited as a decoration.

Dozo's freshly Baked Warm Chocolate
I never fail to order desserts with chocolate because I love chocolate so bad! The vanilla icecream was so-so. I thought the baked warm chocolate were comparable to Starbuck's chocolate molten cake. Lol.

Iced Fruity Refresher + Iced Grapefruit Glory
the fruity refresher is really refreshing. There were a number of assorted fruit bits in it too. However, I barely had to fill a cup before there was none and I had to wait for the ice to melt before a second serving. The grapefruit on the other hand had lesser ice. Perhaps the fruity refresher is meant to have more ice in it? I doubt so.

Ya, I was really excited to try out this place and saw some of our fellow OR rather good reviews abt this restaurant. So was having high expectation abt this restaurant.

When i arrived there, I was rather impressed of the interior design of the restaurant. It was classy, modern, elegant and sophiscated. And the restaurant seems really big to me, with many private dining rooms available which was really exclusive to me.

We were attended by professional and nice waitress and waiter. And when i was given the menu, i was thinking to go for the lunch promo which was so much value for money just only a difference in one lesser course, but the price was a $20 difference. (6 course set - $39.80++ (only for lunch), 7 course set - $59.80++) But my friend was really good to me, told me to go for the 7 course set since it was a birthday celebration for me.

Well, I was very impressed and love the ambience and the presenatation of their food. BUT i wasnt impressed at all with their food. Maybe it was overly rated. The food wasnt good to me at all, I cant even tell you which dish was the best, cos i dont like any of the dishes. Maybe i have choosen the wrong dishes that day. But honestly i was rather dissapointed with their food. It tasted rather average to me.

But the classy and elegant private dining room was really a good place for dates when you need some private place.

Dozo - the upscale sibling of Tao's Restaurant that dabbles in fine modern Japanese cuisine. Dozo, which means please in Japanese, operates very much like its little sister, offering only 6 or 7 course set menus with no ala carte option.

Located on the 2nd level of Valley Point along River Valley Road, Dozo's interior oozes sublime chic and sophistication with mainly red velvety plush chairs amidst a black backdrop. Floor to ceilings windows offer a somewhat muted view of the surroundings. Apparently the 3 window side seats on the elevated wooden platform is a hot favourite amongst couples so be sure to make your reservations early.

Flour Sticks & Drink Shots - The flour sticks were, well, flour sticks dusted with chilli flakes and the likes. Nothing too fancy here. As for the 2 shots of mango juice with tons of crushed ice, lets just say I had a hard time trying to get a reasonable amount of liquid into my mouth initially.

Appetiser - You don't get to choose the first course and everyone gets the same thing - scallop, foie gras and smoked salmon, which wasn't too bad really. The scallop was nicely seared with a crisp layer atop but lacked the firm texture that I was looking for. Apart from the foie gras being really small, I thought it was decent but could have been more quivery. I thought that the smoked salmon was quite well done though. Not mind blowingly salty with a nice taut texture sans the raw fishy aftertaste.

nfusion of Cepes Mushroom and Truffle & Crab Bisque - The mushroom soup had bits of mushroom in it and 1 lone black truffle served on a little flat tea spoon by the side, which you can choose to plonk it into the soup or nibble on it individually. I chose the former, which didn't seem to make much of a difference to the soup. Overall still quite decent though but a tad too watery for my liking.

I thought that the crab bisque was rather watered down as well and tasted rather limp even though there were signs of crab meat in the soup.

Tempura Battered Soft Shell Crab on Galette of Mash - The tempura batter was decently thin but lacked any flavour, which made it really bland. On the upside, the crab wasn't too oily and the sesame vinaigrette alongside helped alot in ensuring its palatability.

Gratinated Escargots Topped with Yuzu Butter - A group of 3 escargots came with cheese and Yuzu butter while a solitary one was presented with garlic. Personally I preferred the ones in the cheese as it came across as creamy with a slight chewy texture. The garlic one needed a stronger dose of garlic in my humble opinion.

Beef Tataki with Shaved Parmesan and Truffle Mayo Mosaic - The beef tataki certainly didn't do itself any favours with its dryness but interestingly, a few slices of the beef were wrapped around a crispy flour cylindrical cone which was something different, especially with the truffle mayo. But I can't say that I enjoyed it very much as the beef was bland and relied on the mayo to give it flavour.

Succulent King Crab Claw Salad Drizzled with Sesame Vinaigrette - Freshly succulent, the crab meat (purportedly from Alaska) was complemented by chopped onions and sweet mango, which made it sweet and "oniony" (for lack of a better word) at the same time. With such a delightful centrepiece, who needs vegetables

Baked Atlantic Cod Fillet on Puff Pastry - This dish is interesting in the sense that the cod fillet is literally stuck onto the puff pastry, which can be a pain if you don't wish to have the pastry, especially when its rather tough and unyielding to begin with. However, I've got to give the fish credit for being fresh and firm with a nice crispy layer of skin to boot.

Beef Tenderloin on "Pu Ye" & Granite Hot Stone - To be honest, I am unable to make an accurate judgment on the beef as by the time I was done taking my lousy shots, the 200 degrees celsius slab of granite stone had already cooled considerably and the beef just wasn't sizzling anymore. Maybe due to that, the beef slices turned out soft but still juicy and rather tasteless. A shame really, especially with the excellent asthetics.

Iced Fruity Refresher - You get a choice from a couple of hot or cold teas and its a nice refreshing change from the usual palate cleansers or drinks.

Freshly Baked Warm Chocolate Cake Served with Ice Cream - Puny would probably be one of the adjectives to describe the chocolate cake. The crust was nice but a tad thick while the molten chocolate was of the runny kind. Decent but not really outstanding.

Dozo's "Mo Cha" Creme Brulee - The sugar layer on the creme brulee was a tad too burnt but I appreciated the rather evident green tea taste of the creme brulee. A welcome change from the usual vanilla ones.

Love the crispiness of the crab. it contrast the texture with the soft mashed potato. The batter is very fragrant.

For my soup, I opted for the double boiled beef consommé, it is so delicious. the flavours are strong and refreshing. The beef makes the soup so tasty. for my main dish I opted for the beef tenderloin. It was served on a hot stone, kept it warm for some time, the beef is so tender and delicious. really enjoyed this dish. The drinks and desserts were really good as well. Love the food here.
