This Avocado cheesecake is around 7 plus per slice. It is the best cheese cake I ever eat. The base was made by chocolate biscuit that taste like kit kat. The cheese is light, hence, you will not feel disgusting after finishing up the whole slice of cake. I have been there 4 times but only the 1st visit I manage to try this cheese cake. Why? Only if someone ordered this cheesecake then the owner will do extra to sell. Depends on your luck. Another thing the ambiene is cosy and relaxed!

Was visiting my mentor at Eng Hoon Mansion and came across this small and cozy looking café. Although it was a hot afternoon but it doesn’t stop me from ordering a cup of hot coffee. Order a Cappuccino and a slice of Orange and Raspberry tea cake. Robust and heavenly coffee with fluffy and creamy ‘clouds’ floating on it; barista showed some good skills on his latte art. Refreshing orange and raspberry cake is moist and buttery; simple but delightful.

I have heard many people raving about how good Drips Bakery fruit tart is so i decided to try it on my own. I took away this Cinnamon Pear Tart as it looks very pretty and unique. Taste wise, i cannot detect any cinnamon fragrance and the pear used was grainy and dry in texture. I would prefer the layer of frangipane below the fruits to be thicker as it was so thin that it doesn't contribute much texture nor flavour to the tart. I think i will still give the other flavour of their fruit tarts a try before laying any judgment too soon.

This bakery is known for their tarts, so I had to get a fruit tart when I visited the establishment. On a whole the fruit tart that i got, a cherry and blueberry one, was delicious. The cherries and blueberries were super duper sweet, and the pastry was crisp and crumbly, not too tough. The pastry cream was smooth and creamy too. However it is way to pricey for the small tart size. The tart costs $8.

I have a friend whom I always go out for tea with. She calls me best friend forever or BFF in short while I address her as my High Tea Partner. Both of us have nothing in common apart from our funny sense of humor and our adoration for afternoon tea. But after all those conversations that never seems to end over our tea sessions, I think I can say we know each other like the back of our hands.

High Tea Partner always have cravings which I think is perfectly normal for any other girls. But unlike other girls, she has A LOT OF CRAVINGS to satisfy. One moment she could tell me she yearns for steaks and the next minute she will text me to share her desire to have cakes or something sweet.

Being her BFF and a food blogger, I just can’t resist bringing her all the places to have her list of cravings checked as well as my motivation to share all the nice fancy places on my blog too. So our typical day involves going not one or two but three and four places just to eat and drink!

Being her BFF can sometimes be torturous to my tummy especially when she’s always late for tea. For most of the time, I could only wait patently for her arrival. But every once in a while, I will just order something like a cup of Cappuccino ($4.80) to warm my taste palates and if I’m mean enough, I will just take a delicious snapshot just to “punish” her for arriving late.

When she does arrive, regardless if the place is running on a full house capacity or too crowded, I will be able to recognise her with ease since she’s easily the best dressed lady with her branded bag in the cafe space. With a simple greeting gesture and we are ready to order!

As usual, we will always swear to have everything since it all looked irresistible not to try. That is always not possible since we are just youths with a tight budget. Even tighter for her since she’s has more expenses to fulfill. So we will settle with what we really feel like having for that day and come down again another time for the other food instead.

Since this isn’t my first time visiting Drips Cafe and I had their tarts the previous visit, I decided to go for the Creme Puff ($4.80) which was a superbly light vanilla cream sandwiched by a huge choux pastry. The Hot Chocolate ($5.00) was my second drink although nothing fantastic, it sure was a hundred times better than Antoinette.

My partner on the other hand, decided on the Cinnamon Pear Tart ($7.50) which is just one out of many tart creations by the pastry chefs. It might be pricey especially when I know other places in the vicinity where tarts are slightly more affordable but you can’t compare much about the quality and effort spent making these fruit tarts.

Of course, our day never just end with a mere simpleton tea session. An hour’s worth of walking around Tiong Barhu, visiting new shops and we are ready of dinner! As to where it shall be, just stay tune to find out more.

She’s more than just a friend but never nothing short of being my High Tea Partner…

The cinnamon roll here is not for the weight watcher, it is dripping in butter and caramel. The bun itself is pretty normal not really very fluffy or soft and not that moist. However the caramel like topping adds lots of extra flavour from the tons of brown sugar and butter used. You have to eat this warm for the ultimate indulgence! Also try the tarts here they are really good!

My last encounter with a fruit tart was impressionable but nothing out of this world. It wasn’t until my visit to Drips Bakery do I realise what’s the craze my friends are always talking about. Take a brisk walk along the enclaves of Tiong Poh Road, Tiong Barhu and you will find the cafe.

Since it’s just me and ZX, there was no need to order more than two. The tarts were exceptionally good given that it didn’t crumble into messy bits and pieces like most tarts do. I got myself a Cinnamon Egg Tart ($4.80) while the girlfriend got herself a Mixed Fruit Tart ($8.00). Between the two, I preferred ZX’s fruit tart than my own.

I’m not saying the egg tart was bad since the egg custard had the same consistency of a creme brulee but I just prefer the traditional Chinese egg tarts with the flaky puff pastry. But compared to the fresh and sweet berries, I think the fruit tart would fare better.

Tarts might be their specialty but for the still hesitant people, alcoholic teacakes and savoury quiches are available but given the pretty tarts being showcased, you tell me! How not to grab one for tea?

By the way, if you love somewhere which has comfy armchairs and sofas to laze around with your friends and family, Drips might just be one of those place you might want to include in your list!

And well, they took my threat seriously. The fruits had a brilliant hue that was directly correlational to the sweetness of the fruit. this i really relished.
and then there was the custard filling which was the added creaminess that i loved. and what about the buttery biscuit base? It was butterryyyy alright and please, do yourself a favour. Buy a tart for your own consumption. We were left fighting over crumbs!

After my first bite i can't stop. I have never tasted such wonderful tarts in my life. The tart has no butter taste at all and the tart is totally not sweet at all. The fruits on the tarts are so fresh that i wanted to buy the strawberries from them.
All the usual tarts that i have tried before are very sweet and the butter taste are very very strong. Most tarts outside have a lot of custard and very little fruits and the custard are usually very milky but the tarts at DRIPS are not milky at all and their custard are not very sweet. At DRIPS CAFE they make their custard themselves so they only put enough custard for what a tart needs and put lots and lots of fruits. You can really have enough fruits for every mouth full. Their fruits are very fresh and they are very generous with their fruits.
I seriously have never tried such wonderful tarts before. I bought a few back for my family to try and the very next day , my mum went down to the Sunset Way branch to buy more tarts for next day breakfast.
Everyone should really go down and try their tarts. it is really a must buy item if you have cravings for tarts.

The Food (10/10)

What I liked about the food here is its simplicity. The eggs are cooked just nice and not overly seasoned. And the bread is also rather special. I'm not sure if they bake it fresh at the cafe (most likely they do). It's like a whole wheat cinnamon bread with nuts and raisins, plus they spread a load of butter on it just before serving. i think they do sell it in a loaf if you want to buy it home too.

I also ordered an ice latte which was just average. A tad too milky for my liking. But I guess it depends on the barista who makes the coffee because I remember it being a lot better the last time I had brunch there.

The Environment

Tiong Bahru area has a lot of those quaint little shophouses and Drips Bakery is just one of the many hidden gems in that area. The cafe is very spacious. High ceiling. Clean white colored walls. Everything feels very homely and casual. Each couch area has its own unique style and there is even an area with a glass ceiling to light up the place with natural daylight. Even their salt and pepper shakers seem to be souvenirs that the owner brought back from Barcelona.

One of the new installments since I last visited the cafe were these huge Terrariums! I saw that they had 2 of these huge jars - one at each of the couch areas. I'm not much of a plants person, but I thought it was quite a nice addition that made the cafe feel more homely.

The Desserts

Although the breakfast set was really filling, we couldn't resist the temptation to order their desserts so we had a Chocolate Banana tart and a Strawberry tart to share. Chocolate lovers (like myself) will probably like the Chocolate Banana tart. It's very rich, thick and comes in a huge slice full of chocolatey goodness. The Strawberry tart in comparison was much lighter but equally good.

We decided to pop by Drips at tiong bahru for desserts after our pre-father's day dinner. A couple of friends have been raving over their tarts, but being the usual greedy family we are, we tried almost all that's left that evening.

We had the Caramelised Pear Tart which we felt was pretty good. The caramelised pears added a nice sweetness to the custard filling and the tart.

Next up was the lemon tart which i felt wasn't fantastic. Decent but nothing to rave about. Perhaps the lemon curd didn't seem to sit very well with the buttery base somehow.

Another interesting dessert we had was the gula malaka avacado chocolate cake. We liked how the avacado cream added a pretty unique flavour to the cake. And the flavours blended pretty well. Best part was the base of the cake was a crunchy chocolate bottom which was my favourite part of the cake

Last item for the evening was the Creme Brulee . It was creamy and had a strong vanilla flavour to it.

Drips is a nice cosy chill out place in general and I would love to drop by some day and try more of their fruit tarts

Came by on a weekday afternoon and the cafe was rather empty. It was quite hard to find the place initially! Ordered the fruit tart and it costs $7.50. It is quite expensive to be honest but the fruits was very very fresh and the crusts was good too. Service was great too, they were friendly and offered recommendations when asked. Love the strawberries!!! Would come back to try out the other tarts too as they looked equally good as well.

A smooth, yummy pastry base topped with custard and fresh fruits. These freshly baked tarts are worth their $7.50 price tag. I must emphasize on the freshness of the fruits. One of the things I don't like about buying tarts from cake shops is that their peaches and mangos and fruits either come out of the can or don't taste fresh or ripe. But the fruits on these tarts from Drips? They are succulent and squirting with fresh goodness.

Each Giant tart is about the size of a fist and generously topped with fruits and custard. They have midi sized tarts too but I believe these are bite-sized. I highly recommend anyone to go down to their store at Tiong Bahru for a cup of coffee or tea and an awesome fruit tart (:
The menu changes everyday according to availability of fruits.

A friend brought back some fruit tarts from Drips that day. They were huge tarts with lots of fresh fruits on top.
