If you a person who loves to eat dark chocolate dessert, the chocolate mousse cake here will surely be one of your top choice. The dark chocolate used is really thick and fragrant, with the really smooth texture for it's mousse. It is not too sweet and ideal for everyone. The portion is not too big, so you will not feel too sinful after eating it. Love the environment here as it is not too noisy and the service staffs are equally friendly as well.

Eden Sanctuary is a very lovely place where the food are very well prepared and up to standard. We had a 5 course meal. One of which is the leek-ginger and peanut butter paste baked fish which is lightly seasoned and has a very ‘clean’ taste. The peanut butter really helped to enhance the taste of the dish! I never knew we could eat fish with peanut buter taste until I came here. And it was a great combination!

According to Chef Clement, he mentioned that it is important for us to have a balance colour diet by eating natural food of all the 6 colours as the body requires all of the above to fully function in tip top condition.

With his wise words, I had the Eden Rainbow Salad. This salad consist of orange, blueberries, mixed greens, cherry tomato, 8 grain multi grain bread and dressings made from calamansi, apple cider vinegar and honey. This is a sample portion of what is usually served in the menu.

The colours on the dish were very pleasing to the eyes and appetizing for the stomach too. It’s a light starter with fresh fruits and vegetables. A simple dish yet consist of all the goodness of the 6 colours. The light sourness from the cherry tomatoes and blueberries, sweetness of the orange and the crisp freshness of the mixed greens complimented very well with the tangy flavour of the dressing.

This is another customized dish which consist of Balsamic Vinegar, Ambrosia Late Harvast Wine, Boneless Chicken Leg, Blueberries, Butter. Salad Dressings made from Ambrosia, Olive Oil and Lemon Juice.

The chicken thigh have been marinated for a day which made it taste so good. Its little fats on the skin just melts away when I took a bite at it. Together with Chef Clement’s secret ingredient in the sauce, the Late Harvest Ambrosia wine made it even more heavenly with a tinge of fruity sourness alcoholic sensation on the taste buds.

Chef Clement is able to customize the menu and recipe according to your needs. If you like to have a group function, you can call up to make a reservation and inform him what you like for your menu. He can even whip up a good meal according to your calorie intake, diet and also any allergies if you have.

We had a variety of different dishes and my personal favourite was the mushroom wrap~ Love the brilliant combi of crunchy walnut, sweet marigold, sautéed mushroom and tangy lemon, all wrapped up in a wild pepper leaf!

I liked the pasta with sun-dried tomatoes and olives least cuz it's too bland and plain. Too simple can be too boring sometimes.

It’s awesome to watch the crème brulée being torched right in front of my eyes! I’ll gladly forgo the caramelized sugar top anytime cuz to me, it’s all about the rich custard base. Smooth? Check. Soft? Check. Real vanilla beans? Check!

Any idea what’s Modena in Italy famous for? Google and you’ll see that it’s balsamic vinegar! Well, ever try a dessert made with it? I did, and while the Modena mousse cake is interesting, I’m still not convinced I like vinegar in my sweets.

So, is it possible to have a flavoursome 7-course dinner that’s less than 1,000 calories? It’s been tried and tested: at Eden Sanctuary, you can =)

If you are a soup person, try the Creamless Homestyle Pumpkin Soup ($4.00). Well, I’ve tried creamy pumpkin soups and it wasn’t spectacular. So I’m particularly pleased with Eden Sanctuary’s clear broth version with herbs. I enjoyed every spoonful of pumpkin bumps, shreds or chucks. The texture is so inconsistently attractive, I’m hating how I am polishing off the bowl in just 5 minutes. Argh. It’s hard to flirt with a bowl of soup. They don’t last very long.

Ginger Leek Peanut Butter Fish ($6.90). Each mouthful is a blast of flavours from the distinct taste of ginger, leek and peanut butter. Yet surprisingly with such powerful elements, I could still taste the flaky fishy fish tucked under the brownish garb! No wonder Chef Clement said that a fish should taste like a fish no matter how it is prepared. You get that? Say bye bye to tasteless meat!

I did’t try their food at that time as the cafe looks small and dull, probably one of the places no one would have noticed. I realised that I had overlooked this ”hidden-gem”!

A mini garden

Even though the cafe was small , probably sit around 6 tables (you may have to share tables) , there is a mini garden right at the end. Well, some of the fruits , plants and flowers are used in the food.

The set lunch menu

They do offer a 2 or 3 course set lunch menu priced at $12.90 and $14.90, main course at $10.90 ( no ++).

Eden Sanctuary Salad ($9.90)

Without any further hesistation, I had their signature Eden Sanctuary Salad —– use the different 6 colours. the 6 colours were red, orange, green, white, blue and brown. It consists of orange slices, blueberries, mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and multi-grain bread, tossed in a citrus dressing. The dressing is very mild and refreshing. There were rose petals to act as garnishes and they can be eaten too!

Rosemary rose petal olive chicken ($16.90)

The chicken leg was marinated with rosemary and other herbs overnight before roasting to retain the juice. The meat was tender and juicy and infused with strong aroma of rosemary which I simply lovvve it! Even though I do not normally eat the skin of the chicken ( where the fats are found ), the skin was simply sooooo crispy that I can’t control myself. The juice from the chicken just flows out the moment I sliced the meat apart…. and that was super juicy and delicious! Highly recommended!

Modena Mousse cake ($2)
I was curious about this ”modena” moussecake due to the unique name. The chef challenged me to guess what it was after trying it. My first response after trying a little was ” tangy and has citrus flavour… erm… lemon cheesecake ? ” I was wrong and the answer he gave was Mousse cake made with Balsamic vingear and black pepper. This interesting combination was the chef’s own creation. This mousse cake is a very light dessert to end a meal.

The chef created some new flavours of the mooncake prepared some samples of the diners to try and provide feedback. Personally, I felt all the flavours taste quite similar but the Apricot with Grand Marnier stands out due to the tangy flavour. I am not at expert in eating mooncakes and in fact my family prefer the traditional baked five kernels mooncakes to the snowskin ones.

Verdict: Floral cuisine definitely worth a visit! I would be back for the rosemary chicken! A pity that the cafe was small and have limited seats and be there early to grab a seat!

Ok, I can't really describe to you how the food tastes like for my words aren't "Flowery" enough. But one thing I can say is this...HOU SEK ah! (which is taste great in cantonese).

Especially the Pitza (as the Chef Clement would fondly call it). Being that it was Pizza using Pita. So Pitza (well, no points for guessing). Instead of using tomato base, it was the chef's own recipe of using Capsi* (or Red Pepper, in case you don't know what it is), *l (I think), Pepper (yes, this was mentioned) and some "secret" seasoning (secret because I can't figure out what they were). And cheese.

So it was a simple yet savoury Pitza and I must say again, HOU SEK ah! lol

For the other dishes, the blend of the various ingredients is just nice. So you really get what Chef Clements wants for you as his diners...which is for the food to "Talk" to you. So, do give it a sample. And one more thing, he changes his menu every week. So be surprised.

Really thankful to the chef and the Openrice team and of course, my WIFEY for this meal. It was an eye opener.

What almost made it worse was that Singapore URA decided to allocate such a HUGE land for China Square Central and we were lost for like 20-30 minutes. Sorta Alice in Wonderland feel.

However, things started to turn for the better almost immediately when we reached Eden Sanctuary.

We were greeted by the lovely people from OPENRICE (or I prefer to call, HOI FAN). They are really a bunch of fun loving and almost hyper active bunch of people. I can only imagine the days when they are in the office giggling away the whole day while getting their jobs done.

Last night, I was invited to OpenRice's food tasting at Eden's. Nestled in a little corner of Chinasquare Central, this seemingly uninviting Restaurant actually serves a totally different concept of cuisine.

This cosy little place has alot of potted plants in there.. All herbs & vegetables grown by Chef Clement... I wished I had a little garden like this.....

We were 1st served with floral tea.. Prepared with love, it has a soothing & calming effect tt gave me a good night's sleep.

My favourite dish was the Floral Salad! It has about 7 different types of flowers in it
(orchids, marigold, rose etc...) carrot, zucchini shreds & orange cubes. Ending off with a little pepper, sesame & dressing sprinkled over... Each individual flower tastes different & the fusion of bitter, sweet & sour really pleases my palate.

It's not an everyday thing you get served a plate of flowers yeah

But one word of caution!! Please do not start eating off the flowers u receive from your boyfriend!!!

Next up in the list, Mushroom Wrap! I love mushrooms as much as I love my mother
With a piece of Wild pipper leave, it comes topped with sauteed mushrooms, marigold flower, walnut, boondi & lemon. Wrap it up & into your mouth it goes!!! Imagine my love for mushrooms combining with sweet marigold, juicy lemon, crunchyness of walnut & boondi & the aromatic taste of the leaf exploding in your mouth. I felt like i was in heaven...

Portobello Mushroom - need I say more? Tastes as delicious as it seems!!!

PITza - The reason why it is not called Pizza is bcos the base is of Pita Bread's! So it is healthier compared to eating plain flour.. Roasted capsicum with sundried tomato pesto is specially concocted for the base (not e usual tomato puree)... topped with salad & cheese & this is what you get!

Sphagetti & Pita Sandwich - I do not really like this two dishes as Sphag is too dry for me & I do not like chicken pea (to start with) in the sandwich... Nevetherless it still tastes good! Im just picky.

Lastly, we ended off with Creme Brulee... Did I mention I love creme brulee??? Chef Clement certainly reads the mind of his patron. I never get sick of the crusty sugar layer & this dessert is prepared using REAL vanilla beans instead of syrup extracts!

Overall, I had a very healthy & guiltless 7 course dinner yesterday. It left us full but not exploding.

Will definitely visit again!!

I am very amazed at how simple yet fascinating dishes can be derived from plants, herbs and flowers. The flavour is not compromised even though there is no salt and almost zero flavouring. The chef places strong emphasis on how natural, fresh and original taste of the vegetables would enhance the dish. The cooking method is also deliberately chosen to be non-oily. This must be my healthiest meal in my life. The menu changes every week so if you are looking for healthy and exciting food, this is the place that you wouldn't want to miss.

I personally enjoyed the relaxing and calming floral tea. Most teas have strong aroma and contains caffeine. This floral tea is caffeine-free and it has a mild fragrance. It makes me wanna have more servings.

The cafe is very personal and cosy. Great
