Hiyashi Chuka ($14)
Chinese style noodles (Soy sauce/ Sesame Sauce)
It is actually cold ramen, served in a choice of soy sauce or sesame sauce. The cold ramen is topped with shredded fried egg, cucumber sticks, shredded ham, shredded crabstick and lettuce. Mixs it with the sesame sauce, the dish is quite a pick me up and refreshing especially during a hot day.

M has set A which comes with shoyu ramen and gyoza. The set costs $16.

Gyoza
I like it that the skin is quite thin and crispy. Inside the gyoza, it is filled with juicy and tasty minced meat filling.

Overall the food tastes not bad, but it is not a place for relaxing. It is more like a eat and go place.

Lovers of egg-based dishes will surely love Ohsho's Ramen.

Although I am a fan of Japanese food, both of my mother and me really don't quite like Ohsho because the chef is way too generous with the salt making all the food are very salty, but tasty for my girlfriend.

Lastly, I would like to comment the staff was very attentive and the views were amazing because you can see many pretty girls walking passed by this restaurant.

This deep fried version strongly surpasses the pan-fried ones in taste. I thought these would taste super oily and greasy but they turned out to be light and really crispy. A must-order!

This has become my all-time favourite fried rice now. Nothing fanciful - just fried rice with pork, egg and spring onions. Surprising thing is that the dish is so full of flavours. It reminds me of my granny's fried rice when she used to cook for me when I was little so this dish definitely brought back some childhood memories.

A very standard bowl of ramen with plenty of cabbage and a few slices of chashu. Ramen is not their forte for sure as the broth doesn't taste natural like RamenPlay's one that is simmered with pork bones, etc.

This is similar to our local mui fan i.e. seafood and vegetables with gravy poured over rice. Very hearty portion I must say and it was served piping hot which I like. Taste wise, it's similar to what you get from most tze-char stalls so nothing amazing to rave about.

To enjoy wholesome Jap-style Chinese food at a lower fraction of the price in the heart of Orchard Road, this could be the next big thing in town. Try their gyozas, salad and fried rice. Simply yummy!

The bf comes here every monday to take their bento set for take away and the shop has different lunch sets each day. The day we went, it was offering a fried rice set with fried chicken and 3 gyoza on the side and another bowl of ramen, all for $11 nett! I didnt really want ramen initially but had wanted to order the gyoza and fried chicken but realised this was probably the better option for variety. If you follow my blog kopidiem.wordpress.com you would know how we love Japanese food and I can vouch for the quality of gyoza and chicken karage here. Its really the best we ever had in Singapore! The gyoza has a very juicy and fragrant filling, size is just nice and i really love how one side is pan-fried to perfection without it being oily at all. The same goes for the chicken, its fried yet you do not get the oil in the mouth taste at all... you don't even feel sinful eating it! lol.

However, if you had to choose a main I would rather you take the fried rice than the ramen. I find the ramen very forgettable (shio and shoyu ramen tasted almost similar) but the fried rice is fragrant with a small pieces of meat and lots of eggs in it. I would love to just go there for a full 2 servings of gyoza!

When I crave something salty and oily, I head to Gyoza No Ohsho during lunch time. Their $11 lunch set is really worth the money because my stomach feels like it's exploding after I finish everything.

I'm not sure if this is part of the ramen chain but Japan but the stuff are pretty good (for the price anyway). The lunch and dinner sets are only available on weekdays, you're stuck with ala carte on weekends.

My favorite lunch set is the half-ramen, half-fried ramen, three gyoza, fried chicken and salad (yucks). They rotate the rice dish, sometimes it's fried rice (my favorite) and sometimes it's curry rice (not my favorite). The dinner set's the same stuff but with an added $5.

There's all-you-can-drink cold water which is very useful because the soup gets salty halfway eating.

Ramen and friends
For the lunch set, there's different type of soup bases. I usually go for miso or salt because it feels more authentic.

Taste-wise, it's pretty good for its price (like I said above). For $11, it's usually one bowl of ramen from other airconditioned restaurants (I'm looking at you Santouka.). Heck, even the stall itself sells one bowl of ramen for more than $11 each.

The fried rice is always good. Just the right amount of oil and salt. I love the fried chicken (karaage) but it feels like it's been refried one too many times. The gyoza is just refrigerated dumplings that have plastic-like skin.

Setting
The restaurant is just half a stall inside Cuppage Plaza. Like in Japan, there are counter-facing seats and tables.

Staff is attentive since the place is so small. Food comes very fast since they are half done by the time you order.

If you're ever in the neighborhood during weekday lunchtime, the lunch set is a good choice for relatively cheap ramen and will make you full.

I tried set lunch and my friend ordered pork(Japanese char siew) ramen. The set lunch was quite a big portion and could easily fill one’s up. Taste wise, I would say it just so so, not so fantastic or bad. Pork slices were generous and thick compare to other Japanese restaurants, no complain on taste; soup base was a bit oily though, ramen was springy and has a strong alkaline flavour. We liked to see the Jap chef in cooking ramen, he looked serious on his job and he monitored other Singaporean chef too.

Overall tastes were OK. We would think other places serve better ramen as well as Jap lunch set in terms of taste. From our opinion, we don’t need to come down specially for their food, no harm trying though.

Konichiwa...and the time now is for a lunchy that we all well deserved on a laidback Saturday!

Me N gF team is on our way out to source for good food again to satisfy our hunger especially after burning our calories in bed for more than 12 hours the day before. Luck was not on our side as we were being shut out by 2 food outlets as we were not aware of their opening timing which is of no avail. Luckily, this Japanese outlet scroll through my personal search database in less than 1 min and we were left with no regrets for visiting this authentic Japanese outlet!

OHSHO OHSHO aka Jiao Zi Wang Jiang has been around the Cuppage Plaza area ever since my tertiary school day and this brought back my memories for almost a decade back where me and my mates will usually gathered at the lane counter seats where we enjoyed the tasteful ramen and gyoza. Upon being served with our piping hot of 2 set orders for the day, the standards of the food and appearance has pretty much maintained. The taste and appearance is very much similar to the ones that i had 10 years back with every bite relishing my times with my mates. The Shoyu Ramen is springy with the Qness effect, light with the soup totally complimenting with all ingredients. The pork chasu is tender and cooked to its freshness and the gyoza is at its ever crispy ever without a hitch of disappointment. The Tenchin if i am not mistaken which is the egg omelette with rice finished with a starch soup gravy is the choice to have for a fast lunch out. The omelette is cooked to perfection with the texture hovering the steam rice within and lastly on the gravy providing the finishing touches. Light on the palate but a fulfilling stomach effect after 5 mins on it.

A must try Japanese food joint if you are someone who is always on the go but wished to be instill and be involved with the culture of the Japanese food! Ohsho Ohsho desu! The ideal food for the reasonable pricing!
