Be prepared to queue at least half an hour for a table at this Japanese buffet restaurant even on a weekday. The wallet friendly prices have made it a favourite among teenagers and young adults who made up thr bulk of their customers when we dropped by for lunch on Friday pm. The price for weekday lunch buffet was $19.90++ or $23.30 nett per head.

Here you pay up first, then you're given a table not of your choice and you can start going for the food. The square shaped show kitchen occupies the centre of the restaurant. It is surrounded by the buffet selection which makes it easy for the chefs to replenish the food and diners can help themselves to what they want as they watch the chefs at work. There is reasonable variety for the price paid - sashimi, sushi, takoyaki, yakitori, tempura, rice, different types of fried noodles, sushi, miso soup and japanese style cracker pizzas. With quantity, you'll have to sacrifice quality and authenticity. The food is like what you'll find in fast food places like Yoshinoya and the Japanese stalls at food courts and in Singaporeanised japanese restaurant chains like Sakae Sushi or Ichiban. At one end of the restaurant youll find the drinks bar and dessert bar. Be prepared to queue for 20 minutes like we did at Friday lunch to reach their dessert bar which has cut fruits, meiji ice cream, jellies and tiny cubes of cakes.

OK but not 'wow' kind of buffet and imho not worth the waiting and queuing time.

The restaurant was fully packed with people even though we went on a weekday lunch hour. Having to queue 45 mins before we could enter the restaurant, we were famished and with a quick glance, I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant didn’t seem to have as much varieties as I expected.

The one thing I looked forward to was sashimi and to my pleasant surprise, they actually have about 3 different kind of salmon sashimi apart from the raw ones. Their Salmon marinated in sauce left quite an impression on me as it tasted really fragrant and it did not lose the sweetness of the salmon itself. All the salmon sashimi were fresh and were snap away by hungry diners as soon as they are refilled.

Moving on to their cooked dishes, one of it was their Salmon Hotpot. The broth was too salty and we couldn’t taste the salmon flavour in it. Worst part of it was that we couldn’t even reach our hand near the pot due to the fire underneath it as it was too big and covered the rims of the hotpot with its flames. Only when it died down then we reach for the soup which I think is not only irritating but dangerous.

The Chawanmushi on the other hand was smooth and silky and tasted as great as it looks. The grill meat section have 3 selections; Pork, chicken and Vegetables. The grilled pork was the best and it was cooked just right thus it was juicy and tender while the grilled chicken was dry and slightly tough.

Another huge favourite among diners and myself too was the cold fresh prawns which was fat, really sweet and very addictive, the bbq prawns were a let-down as the meat was overcooked and tasted bitter. As for the Tempuras, they tasted good but very plain and normal too, not worth a try as they are soggy after being put out for some time.

There is wasabi ice cream served in Kiseiki which is very spicy thus wasabi lovers will love the dish, for non-wasabi eaters like me, we can go for the others which are the black sesame which is not only sweet and fragrant, you can taste the small specks of sesame mixed into the ice cream paste. The Mochi and Waffles on the other hand were not worth a try as they tasted almost like what we could buy from outside supermarket.

The desserts overall are a disappointment due to lack of varieties and mundane taste.

The huge sumo is what you would notice first when you reach the kiseki in Orchard central. True, this is the place for bug eaters with its huge variety available for your picking. SO please go somewhere else for your jap buffets cravings

The nice grain of the salmon can be clearly seen and the freshness is also there. As it is the period of the salmon, the salmon fish head is also made available to those who like to eat especially the belly part of the salmon and the size of the fish head is also quite big. Lastly, apart from the normal tempura that they have such as the deep fried epi prawn, tempura vegetable, they also offer the deep fried salmon. It has a crispy texture on the outside while soft on the inside with slight seasoning added. Desserts was also made available with a wide variety of ice cream flavours to choose from which includes vanilla, chocolate, matcha, black sesame and lastly the wasabi flavour. Waffles, mini cakes, puddings and fruits are also available in the dessert section. Overall, one person cost about $42 after adding the additional $8 for the mother's day period and the service charge and the gst.

Jap buffet at reasonable price of $19.80++ during weekdays for adults. They have an acceptable variety of food, sushi, sashimi, desserts, tempura, pizza, etc, all that you can think of for jap buffets. They replenish the food quite often, so you can expect piping hot tempura whenever they run out of it. The environment is also conducive, although they have a kids corner, not a lot of kids were there during weekdays.

Kiseki is a Japanese buffet, but the surprising thing is they do serve other cuisine like western. The cold dishes like the sushi and sashimi are pretty limited, with only salmon sashimi and tuna sashimi available. Certain shell food like mussels and snails are available too, but very little as well. The quality was alright only. The salmon sashimi was again very thickly sliced. The chawanmushi was not bad though. Overall, for a price of $19.80++, the food fits the price but aren't great either.

The chawanmushi was not bad though.

Overall, for a price of $19.80++, the food fits the price but aren't great either. I guess it really depends on how much you are paying.
There was a long queue if you didn't make a reservation though.

The pizza was really good, the crust is not too thick so it would not be so filling. i think the lunch buffet is good enough for me!

Situated on the 8th floor of eighth floor, one can have a paranormal view of Orchard area with the french windows. The whole place was bright though the downside of sitting in the 'porch' was how my table was just underneath the air-conditioning. My piping hot food (teppanyaki) and drinks turned cold quickly which spoil the dining experience. Therefore it is important to request to sit somewhere, away from the air-conditioning.

I absolutely love the garlic fried rice, each mouth is so flavourful as you can taste the rich flavour of the garlic. The chawanmushi was served with a generous portion of crabmeat, japanese fishcake and ginko nut though my friend felt that the chawanmushi was not very smooth.

I ordered the pork belly shabu-shabu and I love this dish the most! The pork belly was tender and the fats in between was little and it goes very well with a small bowl of rice. The portion of vegetables was generous too! A nice soupy dish to have especially after eating all the other more flavourful dishes. The vegetable tempura (Long bean and eggplant) is very oily ( a bit of a miss) and the chicken skewers is really a huge disappointment. The meat is not juicy and the sauce is not marinated evenly. The sotong ball skewer was also a tad too hard to chew.

The prawns are fresh though as they are very sweet as well as the other seafood. The sashimi is also fresh and be warned that it is a very popular choice for most patrons and there are many instances that one is greeted with empty plates are the buffet table.

I really love the desserts! It is important to head to the table early as the popular items such as the in house special toufu cheesecake was no longer refilled when I headed over for my second round. I love the black bean mousse as well as the puddings (mango and lime)

The ice-creams are also a hit! The sesame and the greentea and yuzu flavours are my favourites! There is a very nice scent of sesame (not overpowering) and the yuzu flvaour is very refreshing! really a nice complement with the greentea flavoured ice cream

All in all, I feel that the desserts are more of a hit especially the interesting Japanese snacks like mochi( Japanese sticky rice cake). I was intrigued by the grilled salmon fish heads but unfortunately they were not refilled. Same with the porridge too. Even though the variety of the food was really great yet the huge crowd also equally meant that most of the food( especially the more popular ones like sashimi and the in-house specials) were often snapped up quickly and the busy kitchen was often unable to serve out on time. Service was good too as our plates were often cleared quickly, though it sometimes came to the point that when we stopped eating and there was still food left on the plate, the plate was too quick to be cleared. Nevertheless good job for efficiency! will i go back there again? perhaps!
