Craving for some Indian cuisine, I will always choose to come here to grab my favourite paper tosai.  To pay less than $5 for this giantic 'prata', is definitely worth the money.  THe restaurant is spacious and cooling, service was really warm and friendly too.  For the paper tosai, is really thin and crispy.  The curry gravy is flavourful and not too spicy.  Dip or without dipping it, both version taste equally good!

Do you know what is full meal in Indian Style?
One Big bowl of white rice can be served with ,4 types of gravys that we can put it in our rice one by one.

Firstly a small quantity of rice go with Sambar Gravy,Then Tamarind type gravy,Then,Soup type gravy called Rasam The finally go with Curd.
This meal set comes with 5 types of side dishes,Like curd salad, Papadam, Vegetable stir fry, Vegetable Kootu made with lentils & finally pickle.

Sure at last you have your sweet dessert. If you don't want much rice , you can ordered the meal which comes with Roti's or called chappathis with rice & veggies.

Taste was amazing,Price also resonable.Totally it was a heavy ,tasty lunch for us.

Potato masala has always been one of my favourites. This can be found inside the typical indian tea time/breakfast thosai or along side poori; another indian delight. Basically potato masala compromises of potatoes, peas, carrots, onions and of course masala! it is also similar to the usual curry puff potato filling but the indian version is slightly more spiced up.Different types of thosai is also available. I went for my favourite kind this time round - Masala Thosai. I love how its so crispy

Different types of thosai is also available. I went for my favourite kind this time round - Masala Thosai. I love how its so crispy on the outside with a generous portion of potato masala placed right in the middle! It is also served alongside 3 different curries - Sambar (which is like a dahl curry that is common eaten with prata), coconut chutney and chili chutney. No doubt coconut chutney compromises of grated coconut and spices while the chili version is obviously spicier. They complimented the meal very well!

The Dosai meal (SGD 7) served with 5 types of sauce and 3 kinds of veggies. This is 'Cone' Dosai (SGD 4). As it describes, it is in 'Cone' shape, very interesting yeah?

These are vegetarian dishes though, they are actually quite oily and heavy big dish
I do like Indian food. But would be nice to check it out once in a while not everyday
It is lucky that we found this restaurant, very friendly people there and good price for the food!

One day after my shopping in little India, I went to Komala Vilas for a quick & light dinner. I ordered for Special wada. I actually wanted to have 2 samosas, but I went and had a look at the food on display & noticed this large pattie like thing and asked what it is & was told it is a special wada. It was quite big in size compared to normal wadas & can be had as dinner as it is quite fiilling. It is made up of pulses, onion, chillis & spices, ground together, made into a pattie & fried. It was

The tea was nice & had a strong masala flavor & aroma. My dinner at Komala Vilas costed me about 5-6$ only.

My wife & I went to Komala Vilas for lunch, few days back, The ambience is casual & simpIe. The place was crowded when we went there at around 2 PM. I ordered for a masala dosa. It arrived in 3-4 minutes. The dosa was crisp & tasty. The potato filling was nice, spicy & tasty. 2 chutneys & a sambhar were served along with the dosa. The white chutney was really tasty and added to the taste of the dosa.

I was in little India, so I went to my favourite Komala Vilas. The restaurant is always full. I took a seat & then I ordered for a ghess dosai, since I din't want to have a heavy lunch. It was served immediately. It was served with a chutney & a sambhar. The dosa was nice & crisp & the sambhar was served hot too. The flavour of the ghee, added to the taste of the samosa. Just that the chutney they serve is less.

the masala dosai here is alright. nothing to brag about. just potato spiced and wrapped in some thin pastry with some deep fried donut thing and rice cake thing on top. the sauces are alright. the sauces are dishes up by the staff and left to sit on the back counter where there could be flies or whatever dropping into it. very unhygenic. overall the place looks pretty unhygenic. the food tastes ok. hard to make a bad curry. a bit over priced but otherwise it's passable. not really recommended. t

went to little india for a threading and my cousin was hungry so we decided to go Komala Villas since she hasn't her breakfast. i didn't feel like eating any thosai or Idly so i ordered Samosa Chaat and my cousin had appam. So the samosa chaat is basically made with 2 big samosa then cut into smaller pieces with topping of Mint sauce, Spicy masala and few more other sauces. Not really sure of the names. The appam is made of coconut and yellow sugar and coconut milk. For the drinks we order Lime

Happen to visit the place with a friend of mine yesterday. Firstly they said they do not have a Menu Card, and one has to read what is written on the wall which is obviously not visible from all corners of the restaurant.
Then when we ordered and the food came, we were not even given Fork or spoons to eat, finally on request the waiter gave a fork and asked us to share it with each other. Was damn bad to get such a reception.

And then a table next to us, there was a European guest who walked in, and they were given a Menu card by the same waiter who first told us that they do not keep any cards.

When we asked the Waiter why such a different treatment, he said the prices are outdated on the card hence it was not provided to us.

One needs to keep in mind that this was a Singapore 'OK' Certified Food place, i wonder if the standards here have drastically dropped or have they managed their way out through other means.

All the best to ur venture, if at all you try one out here.

And yes the food, nothing great about it, and not too hygenic as well, but thats how the whole area is out there, and this one is amongst the least standardized there.

Regards,
Milind.
