Decided to check out this place after seeing reviews online. This place is pretty inaccessible by public transport, hence it would be best to drive there. It served western cuisine, with pizza as their specialty. The portion of the food is huge especially the pizza. Waiting time for food is about 15 to 20 minutes which is very reasonable. I love the crust of the pizza as it was baked till perfection with a little bit of burnt smell and taste.

My brother recommended this restaurant to me and I took my friend there to try. First of all their service was really good! The waiters were really attentive and they would help split your food into portions if you are sharing. I would recommend their risotto and ravioli as it is really nice. The ravioli was match with a slightly spicy tomato base sauce which compliments perfectly. The risotto was just nice and it was not too creamy either.

For this version, only some slices of garlic were present, more towards the centre of the bread/pizza crust only.

Verdure pizza

The verdure pizza had tomato, mozzarella, zucchini, eggplant, capsicum. The vegetables added a nice refreshing contrast to the overall taste. The pizza crust was thin and the tomato base quite tasty.

Diavola pizza

If you are more of a meat-lover, the diavola pizza will be suitable. It has tomato, mozzarella and spicy salami which were given in generous slices and were tasty too.

The pizzas here are the Italian kinds with nice, thin pizza crusts. A nice place for gatherings and sharing of good pizzas.

To me this is like yummy comfort food with simple basic ingredients (tomato, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, olives) done in a nice way! I was enjoying it and especially when a pretty charming manager was serving me, completes the whole great experience!

For appetizers, we had the Pane All'aglio: Garlic Bread ($6.90). It isn't your typical garlic bread, but pizza-like with a crispy crust, with shreds of garlic sprinkled on it. I love bread so it went well with me, but my friend thought that it was a little too bland. I wouldn't recommend this though, not exceptional and tasted a little like pita/naan, and it's better to save space for mains.

We had the Pizzoccheri Della Valtellina ($14.90); it's basically pasta with butter, sage, potato and cheese. As it was stated that this was their specialty, I had high expectations for it. However, I was utterly disappointed. It came as a huge bowl covered with bread, and one of the staff helped to cut it up. It was extremely tasteless and hard to finish; the mixture consisted of pasta, pieces of potato and cheese, with a few pieces of greens, and was watery; it tasted like all these ingredients have just been thrown into water and boiled (without any spice whatsoever).

For pizza, we tried the Proscciutto e Funghi ($15.90): pizza with ham and mushrooms. This was pretty average, crust was thin; the combination of ingredients wasn't impressive though. However, it's good for its price, as portion is big (8 slices of pizza); can probably be shared between 2 small eaters.

Bill totalled around $45 for 2 persons for 3 dishes.

Overall, this place has good and prompt service, but quality of food is debatable. Do go for their pizzas if you're with friends and in the vicinity, as their pizzas are the most value for money out of all dishes available; if not, it's not worth a special trip.

La Pizzaiola is a italian restaurant (no surprise there) doing traditional pizza and pasta dishes with antipasti and a few mains. When we walked in, the place was abuzz with people and caucasians, which put me a little more at ease. They seemed to enjoy the food and looked comfortable, so we settled in and looked at the menu. As far as italian food went, this restaurant didn't stray too far from the path, with the usual proscuitto al fungi pizza and risotto with porcini mushrooms. My eye picked up on a slightly more unusual pasta though, squid-ink potato dumplings in crab meat sauce, and in the end we decided to go with that and a calzone to share.

The pasta came first and we peered hesitantly at it. It looked slightly dubious, but it tasted good, thank goodness. The potato dumplings weren't too hard or 'jelat', it felt a little like tang yuan? And the crab meat sauce it was in was tasty, not too salty, and the tangy-ness of the tomato was present as well.

The calzone came soon after and did not disappoint as well. I was worried the inside would dry out (which happens if its not done well/properly) but when we cut into it, the gravy sipped out pipping hot. ^^ It was filled with ham, mushrooms and olives, and the pizza skin was thin enough that there was enough filling for skin and enough skin for filling.

The service was also good, with friendly and helpful service staff. One of our servers was slightly pushy toward certain items on the menu, but it's probably what he was more familiar with, and it didn't negatively influence our experience at La Pizzaiola. On the whole, it was sad that we didn't manage to go to Fat Cat/Wimbly Lu, but I guess there is always a silver lining.

My lady boss recommended us La Pizzaiola restaurant located at Jalan Riang. The restaurant is a homely Italian pizzeria that located in the Braddell Height Estates and an approximately 10-15minutes walk from NEX shopping mall. It is quite inconvenient for those who are taking public transport as it is not accessible.

Nevertheless, it does not stop people for coming in for dining. Based on some reviews from several blogs, the restaurant is owned by the same guys who run Pietrasanta at Portsdown Road (which I haven’t tried before). La Pizzaiola offers great foods and a great price for 12” pizzas for S$14 - 17, pastas for S$13 - 15 and house wine for just S$8 a glass. The price is quite decent and affordable too. No wonder, the night dinning was overflowing of customers.

This time round we went for lunch so the restaurant was quite empty. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable as well. They are well-trained and know the dishes listed in the menu well.

Risotto Allozafferano consists of the Italian Risotto with Saffron - $14.90. We have additional ingredients which is the prawn into the risotto which cost few additional dollars. The risotto was well prepared with generous topping of saffron which makes the whole meal taste delicious.

Ham Mushroom & Cream with Green Spaghetti - $12.90. The spaghetti wasn’t too hard or soggy. It blends well with the sauce. The sauce is very rich and it taste creamy even by looking at it.

We had Torta Pistocchi all the way from Italy. Florence Dark Chocolate Dessert - $8.90/slice: Thumbs up for this! Awesome taste of rich chocolate! The cake has the smooth taste and it just melts into your mouth.

The pizzas is a must-try list if you are dropping by. It serves the thin crusted slices of pizzas with different flavors. I would definitely visit the restaurant again for dining. However, if you are going down as a big group for dinners, I would suggest to make a reservation before dropping by to avoid disappointment as dinner time is quite crowded.

My friend kindly helped us takeaway several pizzas from this place. Even though the pizza has gone a bit cold by the time he reached my place, it still tastes pretty good! The pizza is the Italian type with a thin crust - taste is not bad, though it does not stay crispy once cold. Only managed to take one full picture of the pepperoni pizza, was too slow with the others - not fast enough to stop famished people from snatching away the slices Pepperoni pizza - One of the best out of the 4 flavors

Ham & mushroom pizza - Another winner. Simple but good as the ham slices used were of high quality and mushrooms were the fresh type.

Sausage with basil pizza - A bit of a let-down because the sausage pieces were only near the middle of the pizza, though the sausage used is the bratwurst type and not the cheap type of sausages.

Will recommend this place for takeaway pizza instead of run-of-the-mill pizza hut or Canadian pizza takeaways. It'll probably be even better if you can dine in for the pizza, because I believe they will be even tastier right out of the oven.
