And we finally got a table at the highlyy sought after and much talked about Pizzeria Mozza after calling in almost a month in advance for reservations. Yet we were relegated to a most uncomfortable table in the pizzeria where seating was tight and with the POS (point of sale) system right behind us (or me to be more specific).

Conversation was almost non existent with shouting the preferred method of communication. Simply put, you had to shout about the din to have someone sitting a mere 2 metres away to actually hear you. I attribute that to the ridiculously loud pipe music. For crying out loud, I'm in a pizzeria, not a bar and I definitely don't appreciate literally yelling at people and being yelled at to get a conversation going. And with the whole place trying to do their part for the environment by saving on electricity bills, the whole place had the pub vibe going for them. But wait.. isn't it suppose to be a pizzeria?

Potato Pizza - Egg, Bacon, Yukon Gold Potato & Bermuda Onions. Potatoes on a pizza? Double serving of carbohydrates? Seriously? But to give it credit, it was actually very decent as a whole. A hand full of toppings that synced well together on a thin and crisp yet chewy crust that gave my jaws a good workout (what do they put in there?!) .

Guanciale Pizza - Egg, Guanciale, Bitter Greens & Bagna Cauda. I've actually never tried guanciale (dried meat from pork cheeks) or bagna cauda (an Italian dip made from garlic, anchovies, olive oil and butter) and after tasting what this pizza had to offer, I am still clueless as to how both are suppose to taste like. Reason being, the bitter greens dominated my palate. And the whole pizza tended towards the "grassy" side. Most of us gave up after a slice each.

Meat Lover Pizza - Bacon, salami, fennel sausage, pancetta, tomato & mozzarella. With all the meat, I was hoping that this pizza would be a blast. But unfortunately, the converse turned out to be true. Very salty would probably be a good way to start off the description and the taste from the salami muscled its way in, overpowering virtually everything else. So essentially what you get is very salty salami on a bed of crisp but tough dough.

5 pax, $158. With 2 out of 3 of our pizzas almost hitting the $40 mark and not matching up in terms of quality and quantity, I'll definitely be hard pressed to find a reason to return. We were so disappointed that we didn't even bother ordering desserts. And the ambience definitely didn't help. This place is seriously over hyped in my humble opinion. Better pizzas at a more wallet friendly price can be found elsewhere.

Our starter was the grilled octopus and it was succulent and the lemon sauce was just slightly tangy and smooth. Then followed by the mozerella which came in a huge lump and it was enjoyable at first but halfway through we felt we had enough of it. Our main was the Agnolotti with sage and butter and we were told that the filling was veal and pork which could passed as fois gras, and the quail was juicy and even the breast part was so tender! Overall the food was great and the ambience was cozy and the staffs were friendly and served us well.

The toppings were very generous, and the mix of bacon, salami, sausage and cheese did not make the pizza too salty. The crust was nice and crispy even when the pizza cooled down. We would have preferred the pizza served sliced but perhaps we should have requested for that while ordering.

As for desserts, we had a Butterscotch budino, Maldon sea salt & rosemary pine nut cookies and a strawberry ice cream concotion (whose name i forgot).

The butterscotch was very very sweet, great for those with a sweet tooth but for others, it would be better to share this with your dining partner because halfway through all the butterscotch was starting to get to me. The strawberry dessert was a great compliment for the butterscotch because it was refreshing and not too sweet. I loved the almond flakes on top - unlike many other restaurants, their was still crunchy.

overall a delightful place for lunch at MBS!

The restaurant is spilt into 2 sections - Osteria that serves fine dining and Pizzera that serves causal food and specialised in pizza. Pizzeria is always bursting with people and do make a reservation before attempting to visit it and to reduce waiting time. Seats are quite packed to one another, not exactly a good place for couples. Most of the time, we have to speak quite loudly to each other. Bar counter seats are also available if you would like to watch the chef in action - preparing pizza

It would be food if there is food description in english as most of the food titles are in Italian mixed with some English @_@ It took us some time to figure out the Italian meaning ...

This complimentary chip is served in a paper pack and taste surprisingly good - crisp and well-flavoured with herbs.

Nancy's Chopped Salad = $19

Huge serving !!! Sufficient for 4 to 5 persons to share. It comes with radicchio, salami, aged provolone and pepperonichi. We love the aged provolone which is cheese made from whole cow's milk aged usually for 5 months for a full flavour. It would be better if the dressing is less salty and being paired with salami - we are overwhelmed with saltiness before pizza arrives.

Calamari with fagioli (beans) & oregano (herb) = $18

We have a new insight of calamari! No longer the usual fried calamari we have ... This calamari is soft and yet retain it's spring-ness. Having paired with the beans and herb = it's simply gorgeous. But the serving is very small, about 2 pieces of calamri each ;(

Meat Lover's Pizza = $37

We almost died of saltiness - this meat lover's pizza is way too salty for us. The crust is very thin and the centre of crust fell into pieces when we picked up the pizza by hand. Perhaps the "correct" method to eat pizza at Mozerra is to use fork and knife @_@

Perhaps we'll be back again but before that we have to source for the RIGHT FOOD to order @_@

To celebrate a special occasion, we went to Pizzeria And Osteria Mozza at Marina Bay Sands for dinner. We ordered the Calamari al forno with fagioli & oregano at $18 and Robiola, chanterelles, ramps & scallions pizza at $34. Overall, the meal costs $70 and it was not filling. I thought it was expensive. The calamari was fresh though and the entire taste of the dish was good.

My first Fine Dining experience, and I am really glad it was Osteria Mozza at MBS.

First: Service
The service was really great and thoughtful. The service captains were really patient in making recommendations based on our food preference (vegetarian and no beef).

Second: Food
The food can be seen from the two photos, asparagus with poached egg was bursting with natural flavours of the ingredients. We also ordered ravioli and it was cooked to perfection, the egg yolk oozes out upon slitting of the pasta, the cheese inside the ravioli was not overpowering yet still flavourful.

My personal order was hand-shaven pasta with an italian special ingredients. I was glad I took the risk, it turned out to be really great. A special try would be mint-yoghurt with grilled egg-plants. The "weird" mint-yoghurt sauce turned out to be not weird but unique. It brings out the egg-plant flavours and the combination was really refreshing, especially after the heavy flavours from other dishes.

We also had wine with food. I guess like many fine-dinign places, we were given the chance to try our choice of wine before ordering it. A very common win would be a hit with the ladies I suppose: Sauvignon Blanc White Wine. A fruity yet hint of alcohol compliements all dishes.

Third: Overall
Strongly recommmended for people who would want to experiece Italian flavours and fine-dining combined together!

The first thing that greeted me was an envelope on the dining table from Pizzeria Mozza. This is interesting and unique to me. In the envelope was exactly your cutlery and serviette.

I had the Bruschette Ciccioli for the starter. The Ciccioli had a taste of saltiness (properly from the aging) when eaten with the crispy toasted bread was a good combination of flavour and texture.

The best try here is definitely the pizza! It is one of the best pizzas I have eaten and the price range of $20-$28 for a pizza is quite affordable considering this a celebrity chef restaurant. I can't wait to go back to try to the rest of the pizzas in the menu.

The pizzas were unique with its extra large crust and shape. I tried both the Stracchino and Burrata pizzas. Both pizzas were distinctly differently in flavours but they were so good that I cannot judge each was better.

We ordered Salami and Mushrooms pizzas. Both were good but they took a really long time to serve us the food. At least 30 min. Not a good choice of restaurant if you are really famished.

The restaurant is usually packed. So its advisable to make reservations before you go.

And the rigid and funny thing is, they are separated hence you can't order from the other section. So it's basically 2 restaurants next to each other. I think it's a stupid concept.

They gave us free appetizers which were bread with some mozeralla i guess. And i didnt know that until after i already ordered the Burata Mozarella which was raved about. It was fresh white mozarella on caramelized onion with crispy bread. Guess it was the better thing we tried there.

My husband ordered Vongole linguini, and i ordered some beef pasta. His was Very SALTY, mine was ok...

And the still water cost SGD10 (Before taxes) ok!!! Gosh....i rather drink from my own bottle of water which is free...

What pissed me off was i asked for a chair or Anything to put my bag, and they didnt come back to me. After i asked a 2nd time, they said they dun have anything for me, and didnt offer anything at all! What kind of lousy service attitude is that? LAZINESS! Not even a normal chair...

And we had a hard time trying to get their attention for ANYTHING!

Not going back there again! Expensive and lousy service and non fantastic pastas...
