After umpteen recommendations and fabulous reviews from friends, I decided to have my dinner at Pitchstop, one of NTU's cheap and good cafe.FOODI ordered their turkey carbonara for a try. It comes with turkey, mushrooms, ham, and most importantly, its creamy and chessy sauce! The carbonara sauce is well-adjusted such that the whole pasta does not have the too creamy kind of feel, and it's moist enough for one to savour it deliciously. Also, you can choose the type of pasta you want to be served.

AMBIENCE

It has both indoor and outdoor seats. But I love its alfresco dinning! A relaxing and beautiful place to chill out with friends after classes!

PRICE

The price is really cheap and does not have any GST or service charge. For a cafe and great food and cheap price, it's really a great hangout that I would recommend and I would definitely come back again!

Regardless of the ingredients you choose, the pizza promotes a standardised costs of 9" for $10.50 and 12" for $18.

Sausage Olives & Pineapple (9") - SGD10.50
I really love the ingredients in this pizza, which contains Chicken cipoiata, olives and pineapples! It was a mix of sweet-tasting pineapple with succulent chicken, and also a unique taste with the olives. The cheese made it all the better, and I would recommend this as a start to try out their delicious pizzas!

Smoked Turkey Breast (12") - SGD18.00
This contains roma tomatoes and smoked chicken breast. The mozzarella cheese was fumed with the wood-fired aroma, and was delicious to taste.

I also ordered a bottle of Kronenbourg 1664 (1/2 pint) at SGD8.00. This is truly a remarkable Paris beer that is a must to accompany all pizzas! I love the bittersweet taste of the cold beer.

Aglio Olio - SGD6.00
The Aglio Olio consists of fettucine sauteed in olive oil, shitake mushrooms, chopped garlic, garnished with spicy chilli padi. I added Mini Creamy Mushroom soup & Ice Lemon Tea for additional $1.50, which was really worth it
.
We were disturbed by houseflies after sitting in awhile, but thankfully, we didn't get any food poisoning!

My first try at pitchshop and i heard that i was actually open by ntu students. The serving time was long as i only have 1 hour break and there are so many orders to serve before us! The chicken was served hot but i find it too hard to bite on, and lsyer of oil can be seen underneath! The rasin rice was nice! I like it a lot! But the price was slightly too expensive for a student. Hence, i think they should have some student price promotion or what.

The last time I dined at Pitchstop must have been over a year ago. This time round, there were quite a few changes The first one was the difference in their tables, they added a fun element to it with games right under the glass. The next difference spotted was their menu! They used to have their menu in a pizza box (which I thought was really cute!) but now they have it as a pseudo-newspaper - quite similar to Ambush. I think it is an improvement towards being more professional although it used to be easier to read.

The wood-fired pizza corner is still around. I thought it's really cool to have real wood-fired pizzas on campus rather than oven/microwave pizzas, no?

As a "make it a meal" (add a drink + soup of the day) - additional $2 to the main course price. The prices as reflected below are prices if you order ala carte.

Pitchstop House Brew ($1.50): Not a fan of pure coffee like this... this is super bitter but extremely effective if you need a quick pick-me-up. After a packet of sugar, it doesn't seem to taste any less bitter.

Soup of the Day ($3): It was Spring Onion soup for the day. It was really quite tasty and sets as a good starter for the meal! It wasn't exactly very spring onion-ish. Worth it to top-up $2 to add the soup and drink but not worth it to order on its own.

Turkey Carbonara ($8.50): I was quite surprised that this carbonara is not too jelat. The cheesy taste is quite strong and only the last two mouthfuls might be a little difficult (you know, as usual with carbonaras) but it is really fragrant and yummy! The turkey slices were not too tough either and quite okay to chew. But I probably wouldn't want to eat carbonara in a little while because I always cannot finish it.

Overall - I will want to try the Spicy Seafood Aglio Olio ($8.50) next time because my friend tried it and said it wasn't spicy at all! I always love the taste of Aglio Olio but afraid of the spiciness. Looks like this is a good place to try a non-spicy Aglio Olio ;) Definitely will come back here again for a slightly more enjoyable, less crowded meal in school.

Ordered a plate of spicy seafood aglio olio pasta ($10.50). The linguine was slightly overcooked and was a tad salty but thankfully it was not overwhelming and gave it extra flavour. There were also clams, prawns (not the fresh kind) and squids. The set costs$2 extra, with a small bowl of mushroom soup which was very flavourful and a cup of black ceylon tea. Overall, it is worth a try.

Back here again! I go to this place at least once a month due to the cheap yet nice food! Pasta here costs $8 nett each. If you want soup and drinks, just top up an additional $12. Tried the Turkey ham pasta with linguine this time but it's not as nice as the original pasta that they serve with it because it's a little too creamy. Home made coffee was really nice and the soup tasted good as well.

Back here at Pitchstop NTU because I simply love their pasta, especially Turkey Carbonara (as shown in the picture)! The sauce is creamy but you won't feel easily fed up with the taste. The ham is quite little though, pasta was a lot. This plate costs $8 which is really affordable as compared to other restaurants. There is also no gst or service charge! You can top up $2 to add on a soup/salad with a drink too!

Pitchstop at NTU always never disappoint me! I simply love their pasta especially the Aglo Olio and Turkey carbonara. The pasta costs at a cheap price of $8 and portion is quite filling. You can top up another $2 to get a soup and a drink. The housebrew coffee tasted not bad and it only costs $1 if you order separately. Will try the pizza next time since my friends all say it tastes nice!

I ordered their Fish and Chips to satisfy my cravings. The appearance of the food what quite appetizing and the meal had good presentation. The dory fish however, disappointed me a little as it was flatter and harder than i wanted. The tartar sauce however puts an interesting twist to the wedges and fish.

Overall:

Overall, i like the place and will come back to try the other items on the menu.

Perk No. 1: No GST and service charge (and it's service is really, really good!)
What you see on the menu, is exactly what you pay for. No additional costs, no ++ and you get superb service. What more can you ask for?
Besides, the service is really professional and the waiters are well-trained in which side they should serve you from, and which side they should clear your plates from. Very attentive to our needs and prompt in providing all the cutlery. Absolutely nothing to pick on about!

Perk No. 2: Alfresco/indoor - take your pick!
If you love to dine with nature (it really reminds me of Botanical Gardens), go alfresco with the nature and scenery and flowers. There's a wall fountain out there which elevates the atmosphere immediately. It is really not too hot outside either due to the shade provided by the foliage.

If you can't bear with the heat, take a choice inside where there's air-con. During lunchtime, it could get a little crowded but if you just wait for like 5 minutes (admiring the flowers and nature, or you can take a few photos meanwhile), you can get a seat. The interior is quite bright because of the glass walls which allows natural lighting to stream in without casting direct sunlight on you.

Perk No. 3: Good food - but a little pepper overdose!
For restaurants, a pretty facade is useless without good food. But yes, Pitchstop serves absolutely beautiful food. Beef bolognese, my favourite, was done to the perfect taste. The meat was tender and chewy. The sauce and pasta was truthfully, normal, but it is difficult to be 'normal' even, many restaurants can't attain that perfect tone especially during lunch time. There was a little pepper overdose though, so it would be wise to advise the chef to go easy on pepper when ordering. There was also mushroom soup and a ice lemon tea drink to go along. I don't remember the pricing, but it was around $7-8 I think. That's extremely cheap for this sort of standard. For any special occasions and for a good restaurant to take photos of, choose Pitchstop.

What I would recommend is really the wood-fired pizzas if you guys are in the mood for them, because that's what Pitchstop's famous for. 9" for $10.50, 12" for $18.

There's also live band performances (I don't know the timing, but there's a corner for it), presumably at night.

I'll give it 5 stars for all Taste, Environment, Service, Cleanliness and Price because it is really, really that good!

My friends and I wanted to share their 12 inch pizza but the manager told us the wait time was 20 mins so we opted for their sandwich. I placed an order for their sliced beef sandwich, as I was busy looking at my phone, I handed a $10 note to the manager. After placing my order, I kept my change immediately into my wallet without checking the amount

After waiting for 10 mins, our food came, the waiter sheepishly told me that the manager keyed in wrongly and that I paid for their burger instead, he offered me the choice to top up or take the burger. As I did not want to wait any longer, I settled for the burger instead. My friend who was in front of me had the same problem, she ordered sandwich but the manager keyed burger. I think the manager was a little blur, but the waiter was very polite and kept apologising.

The burger turned out pretty good! The beef was sliced thinly. It was cooked perfectly, not too tough. The egg was pan fried pretty well too. As a whole I am very satisfied with the burger. They served the burger with nacho chips, it was good, just the correct amount of cheese drizzled on the chip.

I will be back to try the sandwich, next time I will make the manager double or maybe even triple confirm my order since he is so blur.
