Personally preferred the oxtail dish!

Having heard so much about the restaurant's signature poultry dish and its affordable price, we went down to the branch at Great World City to try it out for ourselves. Having heard so much about the restaurant's signature poultry dish and its affordable price, we went down to the branch at Great World City to try it out for ourselves. We ordered 2 dishes:

1)Poulet Roti - Signature Roasted Chicken: Although so many friends of mine raved about this dish, I’m personally not a fan of it. I felt like the chicken could be more moist and flavourful, but more importantly, I did not like their accompanying signature sauce as I felt like chicken meat does not go well with creamy sauce. As mentioned, many people have raved about this dish hence I do think it’s really personal preference, and anyone who’d like to try this dish should definitely still go ahead and taste it for themselves!


2)Oxtail de Bourguignon: Personally, I liked this dish a whole lot more. I’ve always been a fan of stewed beef so I knew ordering this dish shouldn’t go wrong at all. The oxtail had been pressure-cooked together with carrots and onions in a red wine sauce, so the meat was extremely tender and flavourful. Even the carrots and onions were soft (without being mushy) and all the flavours had been infused into them. Ahh just thinking about it is making me salivate

Awesomely good roasted chicken!!

Before catching the movie, we had lunch at Poulet, the place seems nice.
And so we ordered the roasted chicken there since it's their specialty.
The place was crowded since it was lunch time, there was still seats for 2 of us.
After the food arrived, we were surprised to see just chicken with sauce on the plate and nothing else, just some leaves..
But since we were super hungry, we just ate them.
And when I ate them, it was so delicious, awesomely good! I never eat chicken as nice as this, the sauce was not enough for me! It was just right to eat the chicken with the sauce. Feeling not enough, we ordered Gratin of potato and sweet corn, it came later... and it was served hot!

So hot until I cannot recall the taste haha. Overall, it's the best, thumbs up for the roasted chicken (I think I rate this not because I was eating when I was hungry, but it's really nice!)
So recommended to try!

Poulet has opened many more branches, and has rather affordable mains. I have been there a couple of times and found their food to be quite alright. I had the braised de poulet this time, which costs $13.80. Chicken leg is cooked with potato, onions and garlic, which is an alternative to their other signature dish (the Poulet) which has a creamy sauce base. Chicken is tender, but I would much prefer the Poulet's sauce.

No Pork in a Chicken Coop

The decor of Poulet is really nice, it gives a classy feel and the food is not that expensive. The tables are quite small though. I ordered the pork belly which may not be the smartest choice (should've ordered their signature chicken). It comes with some mash potato. I say some because as you can see, the portion is miserable. It's like they scoop some mash potato on the back of a spoon and spread it thinly across the plate. The pork lacked flavour and didn't have that melt in your mouth textur

We just finished watching a movie at Great World City and decided to have an early dinner at Poulet. While I've heard lots of good reviews about the restaurant, this is my first time eating here. I ordered myself a Braised de Canard ($15.80). It reminded me of the Duck Confit I had at Saveur (also a French bistro), but this braised duck leg was much juicier. The only thing missing was some starch (like mash potato) to complete the meal.The taste of the braised duck leg was more on the mild side

 The taste of the braised duck leg was more on the mild side though. I also had the chance to try their signature roast chicken - Poulet Rôti ($28.80 for a whole chicken) which was A LOT better than their duck. The chicken comes in this creamy, fruity sauce which was an excellent pairing.

 I was feeling adventurous that day and wanted to try out their desserts so I got myself a Soy Panna Cotta with Longan ($6.80). Having had a creamy, rich panna cotta at Saveur, the dessert here was quite a disappointment. It had exactly the same texture and taste as "Tau Huey" (beancurd) with the only exception of the Longan fruit. Not exactly the kind of dessert I was looking for to end my meal.

The snaking queues at Bugis+’s outlet, especially on weekends, can be a tad overwhelming. I’ve had friends who waited more than 3 hours before they could get a table. The upcoming outlets would definitely be advantageous in dispersing the crowd.

Along with the opening of Great World City outlet, Poulét has also launched a new Signature dish –a twist to the brand’s highly raved ‘Amazing French Roast Chicken’ (Poulét Roti).

Poulét de Cranberry ($17.80 for half, $30.80 for whole)

Cranberry Sauce, Double Pommery & Dijon Mustard

Pleasing the palate with both fruity and savoury notes, this new signature came just in time for the jolly festive season!

Personally I really loved the creamy homemade mushroom chardonnay sauce in the Poulét Roti, while the Poulét de Cranberry makes a healthier option that is less rich. It really boils down to personal preferences, as both dishes are as enjoyable. The most important component of the dish – the chicken – turns out perfectly tender and succulent.

Here are some other items on the menu I had that day:

Chicken and Fig Marmalade Sandwich ($8.80)

Homemade fig marmalade and shredded chicken dressed with aioli sauce, crispy lettuce and tomato

Why didn’t I try this gem earlier? I’m so glad I did this time round. They bake croissants from scratch. I’m so impressed (and I never knew I would be, this much, with sandwiches).

Chicken tends to turn out dry in most sandwiches, but here, there’s no lack of moisture. The aioli sauce also helps keep the chicken moist. The sweetness from the fig marmalade complements the shredded chicken beautifully.

Love it.

Prawn Fritters ($7.80)

Fried prawn fritters served with sweet and spicy sauce

This is sooo not French (who are you trying to kid, the sweet and spicy sauce screams Thai), but taste triumphs it all. I’m so addicted to these golden strips of breaded prawns –crisp on the outside, succulent on the inside. I will definitely order this again during my next visit.

Oxtail de Bourguignon ($15.80)

Pressure-cooked oxtail in red wine sauce with carrot and onion

I heard they tweaked the recipe for the Oxtail de Bourguignon, so I HAD to try it! The previous rendition was a tad salty and heavy on the palate, but I saw potential in it. After trying this new version, I can safely say that I 100% recommend this dish.

They’ve infused even more flavour into the sauce without having a high salt content; oxtail, melt-in-the-mouth tender; pricing-wise, totally value for money. Must try.

Tiramisu ($7.80)

Mascarpone cheese, sponge finger soaked in espresso and rum syrup

Ordered the Tiramisu because I couldn’t get enough of it during my previous visit.

Guess what? I’ll be ordering it again on my next visit.
