Several weeks ago, I visited Red Star restaurant to sample their wide range of dim sum that has been raved about by my group of friends. I went there during their lunch hour, and had to queue up for quite some time, but it was worth the wait, since the food made up for it. I remember ordering siew mai, har gao, chicken feet, century egg porridge, yam balls, mango pudding, chee cheong fun (prawn&char siew), carrot cake, char siew buns, glutinous rice and many others. I really loved the chee cheong fun, as it was just so scrumptious! I really recommend patrons to try those, and grab them fast! I realise in that restaurant, even though the dim sum pushcarts go around the place, everyone would rush to the pushcart lady and take the dish on their own. Shows how popular the dim sum is, really. Their carrot cake was pretty good as well! Definitely a must try!

Family outing at our favorite restaurant~

Red star has kept the traditional push cart style...
Which gives it's patrons a familiar feeling~
It's crew are always seen with smiles on their faces...

Although as time goes by, many places have transformed themselves to a more commercialization concept and higher class feel...
Red star have tried to keep its authentic feel and flavor ~

Some of the must tries are:

Black bean Pork Rib
Chicken feet
Siew Mai
Prawn Dumplings

They have for many years kept their serving sizes similar and maintain the original flavors.
Good for family gathering, bringing visitors from overseas etc. ;)

The unique selling point of this restaurant is the traditional way of sselling dim sum, which is to use a trolley to move around the restaurant shouting to potential customers the name of the dim sum on the trolley. The century egg porridge was tasty, but it can be improved to be “sticky” and as well as the portion is too small for one person to complete. The Lou Mai Kai was delicious. I especially love the jellyfish in this restaurant, it was broad and has the right texture for us to chew and swallow the jelly fishes.

The roast duck was delectable. As for desserts, the mango pudding and the egg tarts are great! Overall, it was a good place to have dim sum and the dim sum was good.

I still can recall my parents bring me and my sister to Red Star for dim sum. I was sharing with my hubby about red star and like to bring my parent-in-law for dim sum. We went there very early in the morning and it is already full house. we ordered, Char Siew Bao, Carrot Cake, Egg tarts, Century egg porridge, chang fen, etc. After dining, i think food is okie only. With almost the same price, i think we prefer to go Tong Luk for dim sum

i have always wanted to stay in hong kong, imagine all the yummy dim sum restaurant at ur door steps. in singapore, it is quite hard to find a delicious dim sum restaurant not to mention one that u dun need to queue. my uncle was kind enough to bring me with his family to red star for a yummy breakfast. when we reached there, the queue was long! but after a while we got a table and managed to order our food!

i simply long siew mai and their siew mai tasted really good! the meat they used is really fresh and very tasty. the yellow coating skin does not stick to ur teeth when u bite into it. awesome!

the har gao is really good too, the prawn they used is really fresh and succulent! wrapped with the thin skin, very yummy and juicy.

the char siew bao was really yummy too. the bao is soft and fluffy and light too, the chr siew is very tasty. i really hates those char siew pao with fat meats inside, but this one just uses tender lean meat!

the yam cake is quite good too. the restaurant is very generous with their yam. they used large chunks of yam, dipped into the sauce and u will keep wanting for more.

no wonder their is a long queue out there, the food is indeed splendid!

Since my in-laws was around Chinatown area doing some shopping, we decided to meet up for dim sum - 点心 lunch since this restaurant is somewhere near my working area. Since lunch hour was pretty rush for me, I didn't really have much time accompany them throughout the whole session. But they will very thoughtful, while waiting for me to arrive, they already ordered some of my favourite dishes to avoid the waiting time.
