My Friend and myself decided to try out what claims to be the only Shabu Shabu buffet in Singapore...The only Sakae outlet that come out with this Shabu Shabu Steamboat, A pity the sushi variety isn't alot...

We started with the chicken broth and were given an extensive list of ingredients to choose from...We chose a selection of seafood such as scallops on the half shell, clams, salmon fillets, thread fin fillets, squid and mussels on the half shell...
The seafood was mostly a real delight with the prawns being large and luscious, the salmon very sweet and the scallops succulent...

We also chose about 5 types of mushrooms, soft tofu, leeks and long cabbage. For meats, we ordered some chicken and beef shabu shabu slices, some tori kariage (deep fried chicken), ebi(prawn) tempura and chawanmushi (steamed egg) which all came complimentary with the buffet...

Sakae is a well known, established brand in Singapore known for its japanese food. It has been a long time since I last came here, and i was not surprised to see a few changes in the menu. I tried one of the more unique dish on the menu, Teriyaki Chicken Sumi Udon with Soya Milk Soup. The noodle reminds me of, the grass jelly with soya milk. Black and white. The soft noodle is colored like charcoal, but taste normal. And i love the soup! Milky soya taste, but not the usual sweet version. Its a s

used to like sakae cause their sushi were quite nice but as the year passed the standard drop A LOT especially the ramen, i tried once and was shock at how lousy the noodle was so seldom visit the restaurant now. but recently went there to eat with some friends and notice they added some stuff to their menu and include some set meals. the price are quite expensive, average about 20 bucks per set but the good thing is the portion is relatively large so will be filling. and this outlet is not pack

I was at Sakae Sushi mid 2010, when they had the steamboat and sushi buffet. Sushi buffet is as usual, you are only allowed to eat the low priced plates. And not the higher priced red plates. However, I do find the steamboat very nice, because they use the Shoyu Stock with dried Konbu sticks. It's really savory. And when you put the scallop and flower crab in, it tastes really good! And of course you can also cook your beef shabu shabu style, or just leave it in the broth and scoop it up later and

However, I do find the steamboat very nice, because they use the Shoyu Stock with dried Konbu sticks. It's really savory. And when you put the scallop and flower crab in, it tastes really good!

And of course you can also cook your beef shabu shabu style, or just leave it in the broth and scoop it up later and enjoy at your leisure.

I did notice that steamboat buffet customers have to be seated in the far corner of the restaurant. Not that I have anything to complain, I prefer to be seated in a quiet corner, rather than in the middle of noisy families with boisterous children.
