I had an Ichiban Rump, and it was flavourful and delightful to the mouth. Despite my ineptitude with the iron plate, the beef remained moist and tender. Together with the accompanying rice, salad and condiments, it was a quick and satisfying bite, nicely set in a comfortable and homely atmosphere.

Cool the cooked meat by dipping into the raw egg, which adds a smooth texture into the meat.

Seafood Shabu Shabu ($17.90++)
The seafood tastes fresh, but cannot say the same for the vegetables especially for the cabbage which has a number of black dots on.

We wash down the meal with Homemade Iced Green Tea.
Overall it is quite an interesting meal for all of us and everyone has great fun in cooking the dishes.

I was craving for Japanese food and decided to try this restaurant! They offer Teppanyaki, Shabu Shabu/Sukiyaki, Yakimeshi and Yaki Udon. Since this restaurant is better known for their D.I.Y Teppanyaki, I went for that and chose Salmon Steak. I added the meat and other ingredients into my personal pot, which is a specially designed iron plate to keep the meat sizzling hot! There are 4 different types of homemade sauce and I chose the Teriyaki sauce. The others include Teppanyaki, Black Pepper and Miso sauce. I felt like a chef and the staff also helped out by ensuring that it's done right. I like the concept, decor and food here and it's worth going back again!

Sukiyaki (Seafood)! $15.90 ++. Strongly NOT recommended...because it is is SO salty..the taste of the soya sauce is SO overwhelming! I asked to add warm water in it..but it is still VERY salty! hmmm... Shabu Shabu soup base is much nicer than Sukiyaki! Will only order shabu shabu next time and replace the peanut sauce, to egg... The seafood tastes very fresh! But I prefer if they could give me bigger prawn(with shell on)..cos it would taste better.. Salmon is soft and sweet !

Located at Raffles City Shopping mall basement one where there are an array of eateries, Sho Teppan is conveniently located near the city hall MRT station. During the F1 week, together with 2 other friends, we went there for dinner. We have ordered 1 Seafood shabu shabu ($17.90), 1 wagyu beef sukiyaki ($22.50) and 1 pork shabu shabu($15.90). Personally I felt that the service here wasn't too good and perhaps that's also due to lack of staff as there were only 2 staff working during the peak dinner time.
Sho Teppan has an option of letting the staff cook for you or you cook on your own when the food arrived.

The pork was thinly sliced as well.

Overall it was a very average dinner as the soup was bland and the meat was not seasoned. I would choose buffet steamboat over this any time for the price I am paying.

This is indeed a fun, casual and no frills culinary experience.

You can have the option to either cook yourself or with the help of a waiter.

The meal consists of a generous portion of thin slices of good quality Wagyu Beef with thinly shredded carrots, cabbage and shiitake mushroom slices and spring onion stalks topped with toasted white sesame seed served in a seasoned metal wok over holagen hotplate.

There are other Shabu shabu and Sukiyaki dishes to cater for different taste buds.

Aside from the Wagyu Beef slices served in the metal wok, the set comprises of a bowl of rice, miso soup and a small bowl of vegetable salad.

Priced: S$22.00.

had this lunch deal as tea with my family. was quite worth it- 1 for 1. one set is enough to share for those who are not hungry. the self cook concept is quite popular nowadays, however, it was a sunday afternoon, i guess thats why there is not much of a crowd at the point of dining. customer service can be improved as there are quite a number of trainees. food is definitely a worth try for experience. the steamboat teppan is nice! must try, especially the salmon one! it is very fresh and tasty.

The experience at Sho Teppan was an extremely interesting one as I got to cook my own Kurobuta (layered pork) in a big pot. Teppanyaki is usually cooked by the chef. However at Sho Teppan, each person gets an individual stove and pot in front of the seat and we get to cook our own cuisine. Half-cooked, fully cooked or almost rare, it’s entirely up to you. The end result is a pot of fried Kurobuta pork teppanyaki which tasted very yummy. Though the food looks a little oily once cooked, it’s not queasy to taste at all. Served with a bowl of miso soup, Japanese rice and salad, the meal is completely satisfying. The restaurant also serves Yakimeshi, Udon, Shabu-Shabu, Nabe and some side dishes and drinks. Sho Teppan has a wide variety to cater to your taste buds. The service standard is fantastic because if you decide not to lift your hands to do the cooking, the chef is on standby to help, anytime. Just call out to him and he’ll be there. Overall, the dining experience is extremely pleasing and amazing. My friend had Salmon Yakimeshi, which is fried rice with salmon. She too enjoyed the wonderful experience of frying her own rice. The chef decided to help her out too. The taste of the salmon is wonderous and the freshness is impeccable. The restaurant’s environment looks very clean and all the things like seasonings are in order. The prices on the menu are reasonable and extremely affordable to the usual white collars staff like us. The staff are friendly and they are attentive to the needs of the patrons, helping us to cook and so forth. Paying them another visit is definitely on my to-do list. Located in the basement, it’s not hard to find the restaurant. But surprisingly, it’s not crowded. It could be due to low marketing awareness. I would certainly recommend to my friends.

I love the Sho Teppan restaurant located at Raffles City shopping centre. The concept is really interesting to enjoy a pot of hotpot filled with meat, vegetables, egg and noodles. The soup was fragrant and the ingredients were very fresh. I like the tenderness of the pork and chewiness of the noodles. I enjoyed the meal totally which costs around $20.

First time trying their shabu-shabu! Their ingredients and meats are all very fresh and tender. They come with a fresh raw egg to act as a sauce for your shabu shabu! Its a rather unique taste, rather special and fresh! Never try before. The place is quite cosy and comfortable. And their service is quite good too. Hope to be back to try their teppanyaki soon.
