Presentation was all good but as soon as we undressed the chickens from its pandan leaves and popped them into our mouths, the truth revealed. Marinate was not very much emphasized in the taste of the chicken over here, however, the taste resides more towards the charred flavours instead.

I like their style of serving egg with Thai Raddish, scrambled yet fluffy and not too dry with consistence flavours. Despite of its simplicity, its still a noteworthy choice among my orders.

Its hard to go plain on the bowls of white rice without a lip-smackingly good gravy like this! With minimum spicy level, the amount of coconut milk used here is decent and was not too cloying

Don't judge the bowl of Tom Yum Soup by its color. You will never know the level of spice until you have tasted one. Labelled with 2 Chillis in its menu to indicate its spiciness, I find that the bowl of soup has absolutely grabbed the authenticity of how a true blue bowl of clear Tom Yum Soup should taste. It's piquant taste in its spices were stimulating and excites the stomach. Like most places, you can have your bowl of Tom Yum Soup to be served with either prawn or chicken.

Although we were forewarned with 2 chillis on the menu as an indication to the level of spiciness, we had to surrender ourselves to this chilli hot salad and did not complete the dish. It was not only tongue but also lips burning. Do note that a few mouthfuls of it would have cause the mouth to be numb.

Perhaps they can give a better level of spicy indication to the dish as the level was indicated as the same to the Tom Yum Soup but in fact was hotter than it was intend to be. I guessed it was for some who can really take the challenge. No worries about it, I have been to Thailand and knew that this level of spice is totally chicken feat to the locals.

Some of us had our carbo fixed by bowl of white rice while the feminine would prefer Pad Thai for the fix. Pad Thai was decent but I was kind of disappointed with its taste as I had expected a plate of more fragrant and not too dry noodles. However, one good point to note that the prawns used were at least better than those pre-processed ones which could have given us a jelly and translucent appearance.

Washing down the dinner, we have selected the "should drink" from Thai Cuisine which are the Thai Milk Tea as well as the Lemongrass tea. I particularly like their Thai Milk Tea as I think that it brought out the authentic Thai Tea Flavours from the milk without being on a sweet side. While lemongrass tea was not bad either, just a bit sweet in my opinion.

Hits and misses, overall, Soi Thai Kitchen is a good place to enjoy some Authentic Thai Cuisine in Singapore as you can skip paying GST & Service Charge while dining. If only I reside in the East, I will not mind visiting this place often.

While we try not to compare Soi Thai dishes to the ever popular Nakhon, we have to face the reality that Nakhon has set the standard for Thai restaurants in the heartland. Therefore it is fair, if we compare the standard of their food.

We started the dinner with Stuffed Chicken Wings ($6 – 2pcs), Thick Tom Yum Soup – Prawn ($7) and Boiled Cuttlefish with Lime Sauce ($10). The stuffed chicken wings was tasty and flavourful. It was crispy on the outside and served pipping hot. Good sign at the start. As you know I don't take tom yum, so according to LD, the taste was tweak to suit the Singapore taste. It will be better if it was spicier and sourer, be bold with the flavours. Boiled Squid was tender with a bit of springy texture, the lime sauce are not overly spicy.

Green Chicken Curry ($9), Thai Style Kang Kong ($7) and Fried Sea Bass with Namjim Larb ($22) follow next. The chicken thigh meat in the green curry was very generous. However, the curry feels soupier, missing the thickness and richness of the lemak from the coconut milk. Thai style Kang Kong was good, crunchy and pack of punch from the chilli.

The crispiness in the fried seabass was slightly inconsistent and a bit soggy in some part of the fish. The dipping sauce has the sweet, spicy and tangy taste, good to accompany the fish and removed the smell, however it was not to our preference.

While our expectation was lowered after the initial few dishes, the chefs whipped out their best dishes. Beef Paneang ($11), Thai Yellow Ginger Chicken ($9) and Pad Thai ($6). The Beef Paneang tasted like the version of Thai Stew Beef. The meat was tender and the gravy was thick, rich and robust. Yum Yum

The yellow ginger (tumeric) chicken is unique. The tumeric is used to seasoned the meat provide a sweet yet appetizing flavour that wets your appetite. The Pad Thai is as authentic as its get. The Chef manage to get the right balance of sweetness and tanginess that truly show the authentic taste of Pad Thai. Kudos to the Chef.

For desserts, we tried Red Ruby ($3) and Mango Sticky Rice ($5). The red ruby is average, missing the crunchiness. The sticky rice was too warm and it did not bind well with the mango and coconut milk.

Service was good and efficient. The food came quite fast and at regular interval. The décor of the restaurant is clean and simple, where food are the main focus instead of decoration. Without the signboard, I don't think people will recognise them as a Thai restauraint. There are two seating area, indoor and panoramic seating (open air seating as I like to called it, he..he..

Overall, Soi Thai served a good authentic food. Pad Thai, Beef Paneang and Yellow Ginger Chicken is a must try. I never tried the last two dishes before I visited Soi Thai. In comparison to Nakhon, each of them have their different signature dishes, for food and quality standard, Soi Thai is comparable. So if you are looking for something different for Thai Food, give Soi Thai a try. Cheers!!!

Went to Soi Thai on a Friday afternoon and it was packed! Luckily, my friends and I managed to get a table outdoors.

My friend, Eugenia and I both shared the Mango Salad. If you have a low tolerance for taking spicy food, DO NOT order the mango salad! Halfway through the salad, both of us were struggling to complete the dish because it was extremely spicy! Other than that, this is a pretty refreshing appetiser. I will recommend this if the chef goes easier on the chilli.

Next, we ordered the clear Tom Yum Soup. I thought Tom Yum Soup should looks more "red" but I was wrong! This Tom Yum soup was sour and spicy, it was such a pleasure slupring down the soup! They were generous with the ingredients in the soup too! This was the best dish amongst the rest. Very shiok!

The Pad Thai we ordered tasted ordinary, not very outstanding. Feels like I'm eating a local version of char kway teow.

Eugenia and I got the Pineapple Rice to share. Tastes average too, and it is quite oily. Nothing special about the dish.

The clear tom yum soup was the best thing that we ordered. Really love the soup. Spicy, sour and just so flavorful. You won't regret ordering it. I'll definitely be back for the soup!

Soi Thai Kitchen is that newest addition to my community and is well received by everyone. Just look at the crowd during dinner hours. It’s almost always full house every time I pass by the place!

It took me quite a while before I decided to give them a try. You can’t really blame me since I don’t really fancy Thai cuisine as much as French. You see, just about everything in the menu is spicy. Take the tiny chili padis at the side of my Olive Fried Rice ($6.00) for instant. Just one tiny bit is more than enough to set your palate on fire! (No joke about that.)

I was just thankful that they (the chefs) didn’t mixed them into my brown rice.

But then again, what’s Authentic Thai food if it ain’t spicy right?

I did my own little research about Thai cuisine and it’s all about balancing the four basic taste buds: sweet, sour, bitter and salty. It’s almost like a symposium of different flavours working together. A little sweetness than comes a slight tinge of saltiness which always ends off with a comfortable spiciness from the red chilis.

Veggies stir-fried in fish sauce instead of the usual soy sauce or spicy sour broth and that’s the kind of dishes you will most likely find at Soi Thai Kitchen. Nothing superb to boost about. Just the real deal in the form of a unpretentious meal.

There were hits and misses but whatever it is, a personal recommend from me is their Beef Soup ($8.00) and their generous servings of beef cuts. It’s definitely more than enough to share over three maybe even four people.

I’m still quite an amateur when it comes to Thai cuisine but I think that’s fine because if I ever need to learn more, all I need is to cross the road and I can always find Soi Thai kitchen and their authentic Thai street food.

Mango taste sweet and the onion complements the overall taste. The chilli padi blends well as it's not overly spicy but just nice to have the after burn sensation on the tongue.

Most people would order mango papaya salad, but I had this glass noodle salad for a change. Yet another flavorful dish. The glass noodles was done nicely, not too soggy nor too hard, dribbled with thai salad dressing, sour yet with a tinge of sweetness. Top with fried garlic bits. Perfect!

Red ruby, another common thai dish. Sweetness of this dessert is just nice. Fragrance from the coconut milk paired nicely with crunchy water chestnuts.

Will definitely go back to try the other items on their menu!
