Pear and Apple Pork Ribs Soup

(+) Our 2nd visit to this stall and the quality certainly held up to standard as expected.
(+) The pork ribs were tender and soft and love the crunchy tendons especially.
(+) The soup was mildly sweet, owing to the natural sweetness of pear and apple.
(+) Very appetizing and could not stop scurrying my spoon for another mouthful!
(+) Despite the wholesome and rich flavours, did not leave us thirsty, i.e. no MSG.
(+) The soup was luscious, nourishing and full-bodied to say the least.

(-) The ribs were tender but not quite as much compared to our last visit, though I had to include that our last visit was done in the evening, which probably allowed the meat to simmer for a couple more hours. That being said, I could probably attest to the fresh ingredients used.

Verdict: 8.5/10

This set of soup and pumpkin rice is filling for a meal and I like the rice especially. Adding just 30 cents more, you can upgrade your plain white rice to pumpkin rice which has a stronger and richer flavour. THe soup is boiled for long though I find it slighty salty. The pear bits were boiled till soft and has a sweet pear taste and goes well with rice. The meat in the soup though little blends well with the soy sauce and rice. Overall, a healthier choice of all hawker food

Was curious at the selections of soup from this stall and after reading through it, it just reminded me so much of good home boiled soup. There were many people queuing and they were mainly elderly and I trusted their taste buds and so I went for it too.I ordered a apple and pear with pork ribs soup along with a bowl of rice at $5. The soup was so well brewed, sweet and thick. The pork ribs were so tender till it fell apart from the bone easily. I really enjoyed it and finished every drop of it.

You get to see more and more stalls selling different types of double boiled soups all over Singapore. But how many of you know this stall is the original stall of Master Shen Xi? I queued up countless times right at this stall ordering few different types of their famous double boiled soup. One of my usual favourite has to be the lotus root with pork ribs soup. They must have been boiled for hours to achieve such a texture. The pork ribs tasted really soft and flavourful. The lotus roots and pe

I love the soup at lao huo tang show. They have got more outlets now in singapore so it is easier to satisfy the craving for the soups. Their soups are cook at a large pot, and upon ordering, they will scoop from the big pot into your bowl or take away box. The soup are flavourful, and variety of soup available. They have cheaper soup to a more expensive soup. After drinking the soup, you don't feel thirsty, which is a good point.

Decided to try out the soup from Lap huo soup. There were quite many to choose from and in the end i bought the lotus soup. You can choose to add the rice if not you can just buy the soup itself. Take away cost another 20 cents more. The soup is really good! Full of flavors, it has got the sweet taste too. The lotus were soft and you can actually eat them. The pork are cooked till soft and tender. Awesome!

I didn't actually want to have a soup plus rice but I was quite tempted by the looks of the soup which I saw on other table near the stall where the customer had ordered their lotus root soup. Hence, I decided to get try the lotus root soup. I queued for around 15minutes before I could get to order. The soup is pretty tasty and sweet tasting. I guess is that they had added some rock sugar to the soup to make it more tasty. The lotus root is cooked until quite soft and has little crunch since it

Overall, I think it is not bad since it is a good choice for people who don't get to eat at home often to have such soups outside instead of eating heaty foods.

$8 dollars is quite expensive for a bowl of soup excluding rice. But take a look again, the ingredients used to prepare the soup were of good quality, boil and brew it to a good and distinct taste. Feels really full and satisfied after a bowl of such a great soup and rice.

老火汤 can be said as the most delicious soup i've ever tasted (excluding home-cooked soup hehe) because the taste is just so perfect and the nutrition level is high.I tried the ginseng chicken soup and it tasted heavenly. The soup base is not very salty nor too sweet, it's just nice. And it's quite thick, best if you eat with rice. The portion for it is quite big so you can share with your friend or family members. The chicken in the ginseng soup is well-cooked and it's fresh and not oily at all!O

Other than ginseng chicken, they have a few more types of soup. I haven't tried it yet, but i guess i'll be trying it soon because it's just so appetising.

For people who like healthier choices, you must try 老火汤!

This is my new found secret, chanced upon this stall when i was there after a meeting. There was a long queue of 14 people and joined in out of my curiousity. I waited for 15 minutes to be served. No word is able to describe the greatness of this bowl of soup. And, i really think they definitely deserved the title of 汤王 (King of All Soups) as indicated in a board hung right in front of their stall.

And now, i am hooked! this is definitely the best double boiled soup that i ever found in the any hawker centre. I went back to take away another serving of lotus root and pork ribs soup back home.

I would definitely be back to try their mini 佛跳墙 (Buddha Jump Over the Wall) soon.

No matter, you just gotta check out this gem!
