Whenever I feel like having lots of sushi, especially my favourite Salmon Roe flavour, Sushi express at Citylank mall is always my first choice. For merely $1.50 per plate, is very value for money. The sushi rice is very soft and at the right texture which is not too soft nor moist. The salmon roe is very fresh and with no stingy smell on it. I met up with two of my friends for a sushi lunch date at sushi express! Love to look at the sushis going rounds and rounds on the conveyor belt. For me, a must-order whenever I dine in at a sushi chain/restaurant is their salmon sashimi! The second and third favourites are the lobster salad and octopus ;) I also like the octopus but the lobster salad sushi here is disappointing as it tasted quite bland. The scallop is nice! As we just kept taking the sushi from the conveyor belt, I can't remember the names of some of the sushi like the ones above but the first one is not nice and the second one is good! It sort of tasted like tuna fish. The third one is also nice! We tried other sushis as well and the above are just some of them ;)

Ending off our sushi feast with a dessert, the mango pudding! I like the texture of it and the just right mango taste. There are also other desserts like brownie and even a red velvet cheesecake! Sushi Express may not serve the best sushis but it is priced very reasonably and worth going as all their plates are at $1.50 each irregardless of the type of sushi!

I think it depends on your luck, I was there when the queue was extremely short even though it was around 1.30pm, waited for about 5-10minutes before I got a seat; the next moment, the queue got so long. Every plate is $1.50++, even the giant scallop, prawns, sashimi, etc. very value for money. I had the surf clam, scallops, prawns, lobster salad, and chuka. Bill came up to $15 for 2. Oh, green tea is free flow and FOC as well, a bonus.

Food here are relatively valued for money and certain sushi e.g Seared Salmon Belly sushi, Scallop, Lobster salad sushi and cream puffs are considered very tasty.
Do give it a try if you don't mind to queue.

not a fan myself. tried it once before at this same outlet and found it rather flavourful. The salad is not like paste as per some other salad sushis at other eateries. can taste the texture as you chew. the seaweed taste compliments the whole adventure.

Really love the burnt smell that floats in the air whenever they are preparing this dish. fish is evenly burnt, and yet soft to the bite. A must try here

Was quite crowded when we went Sushi Express, we queued for about 40mins before getting in. For $1.50 per item, the food is very worth it, especially for premium items like the salmon sashimi, scallop and abalone-like slices. The salmon sashimi is fresh and tender despite its price, I felt it's even comparable to some Japanese restaurants. The scallops were also very fresh and sweet. I especially like the abalone-like slices, the mayonnaise on top made it even more tasty! Overall enjoyed dining

This is the best seasoned seaweed I’ve ever had , it is crunchy and appetizing.
Fresh and succulent Salmon Sashimi with generous thick cuts justifies its worth.
Flame cooked tuna with perfect charring of its fats , drizzled with sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce , packs a punch when you eat it as a whole.
Sweet Kani (crab) meat , salty fish floss, crunchy zucchini, vinegared pearl rice wrapped in soft crepe layers held perfectly by a seaweed makes the overall great tasting and visually appealing dish.
There were many more other dishes we ordered but this made it to the top in my opinion.

One disappointing thing was that their rice wasn't that well cooked but I could still accept it for the price. They also had desserts like cream puffs, blueberry cheese tarts and puddings on the conveyor belts to cater to people with a sweet tooth who like to enjoy desserts after their meal which is very good and they cost $1.50 per plate too.

Also, complimentary green tea and wet tissues were provided which is a good thing
Went on a Sunday afternoon after lunch time at around 3pm and the waiting time was only less than 5mins! Recommended for people who like cheap sushi but don't hold high expectations that their food will be super fresh otherwise you would be disappointed! 3 of us ate a total of 26 plates!!

Due to its high traffic amount, the food is always fresh, especially their sashimi. Costing only $1.50 a plate, one can fill their stomachs with endless amount of sashimi and other varieties of sushi. The thing about it is, you can get salmon sashimi, salmon sushi, salmon belly etc. all at the same price. It is economically friendly yet able to satisfy the cravings of salmon lovers. The salmon sashimi tastes sweet and you could see trays of salmon being prepared right in front of you.

All the sushi are freshly prepared by the chefs at the different section and they tasted pretty tasty. Among all the sushi I tasted, the only one I hated was the sea urchin one which was nasty, tasted like rotten food from garbage. There are also non-sushi dishes served like fresh scallop which are huge in size and tasted fresh and sweet. There is also salmon miso soup which i do not recommend. It is salty and very oily; we could see a layer of oil floating on top of the soup base, totally not worth it. The desserts served are usually pudding that tasted like supermarket pudding thus not worth the $1.50.

Anyone who wants to enjoy cheap and good quality sashimi is recommended to visit this place.

It was a rather filling meal. We are given a time sheet which states the time to leave the restaurant for other diners. No wonder there's good business as their customers turnover are fast. Great concept!

$1.50 per plate! That includes sashimi, and all the "red plate" sushi that we'll have to pay a premium in other Japanese restaurant.

And of course, because of the high crowd, the control was rather weak.

Sashimi, and other "red plate" sushi, are always grabbed in multiple plates by patrons as soon as it's placed on the belt.

So the rule of thumb here is, "fight with the guy/gal next to you for the Sashimi on the belt. Fastest hands first. The more kiasu you are, the better winner you become."

Enjoy!

Find yourself 'fighting' for food all the time with fellow diners given the large amount of diners surrounding a shared conveyor belt. Was seated at one of the few back seats before and coudn't get most of the food I wanted as it all got snapped up real quickly. Raise your hand you would say but ''sorry we do not help serve food, but you can stand up and walk over to get the food yourself" is what you will get. Yup, do that if you don't mind all the eyes on you. I did that once, all because I was rushing for time.

Lucky you if you are seated near to the chefs. But even so, don't be too happy as it depends on where the chefs want to place the food. It's either you get it first, or you don't at all. True story.

As i recall my dinner yesterday with my family (4 of us) i'm still upset. We were given those single seats near the chefs instead of the normal table and i thought well, at least we get to the food first. I was wrong. 30 mins into the dinner i still had not grabbed any plate of sushi because 1)50% of the belt is empty and 2) the chefs just keep placing the food on the other side which will only come to us last. To avoid the crowd we decided to have our dinner early but to our disappointment, we weren't even full and they even imposed an hour limit on us? 45 mins into the dinner i finally saw them placing the sashimi within an arm's length of mine. I grabbed about 2 plates and the rest was out of our reach.

Anyway, as the price suggests, I don't expect much customer service.
We spent about $70-$80 for 4 of us. But we would rather pay a little more to have a better ambience and a conveyor belt full of food at the other restaurants.

This is the place to go for cheap sashimi, with each plate going at a standard prize of $1.50. They have salmon and tuna sashimi, both of which are relatively fresh, considering how fast that these two get snatched off the conveyor belt. I came across the sea urchin sushi once, and only once. It wasnt fantastic, but for the price paid, i think it is very worth. The scallop is big and sweet But i heard that this might be seasonal :/ Hopefully it will still be available when i next go!
