My ultimate Jap Comfort Food! Clear Soup Udon with Sweet Beancurd. The soup was well seasoned with Katsuobushi and the udon was at the right texture (neither was it too chewy nor soft). I couldn't tell you how much I love tod eat beancurd, especially the one soaked in Sweet Soy Sauce. Definitely worth a second visit.When the grilled eel was bigger than the sushi rice, heaven seem got closer. The fillet almost covered the sushi below. If you really like the oily and sweet grilled eel, you will definitely like it. Sushi tei is one of my top places to for lunch as I really like the environment and most importantly, the food there. One does not simply visit Sushi tei without ordering its star item, the dragon roll. Deep fried king prawn and avocado slices, whats not to like? This place has always been of my favourite places to go to if i ever want to get some japanese food! The flavours are good, and so are the freshness of the ingredients! One of the dishes that i always get and will never get sick of will be the sashimi salad or ramen salad! Sushi tei is my staple whenever I crave for Jap food especially sushi... Not sure if I am bias but I think taka sushi tei has the best quality in terms of food and service. All the staff is very attentive and happy to help. The sushi is absolutely divine! Prices are reasonable as well Of all the sushi chains, I have always felt that Sushi Tei was above the norm and set the standards. I really love it especially the salmon belly *drool* their grill cod fish is very well done not too over cooked and generous servings... soft shell crab maki is the best of all.that’s the thing I like and appreciate about sushi tei. From now until 19 March, sushi tei is having this wintry delights promotion. Aside from their usual offerings, they also have a special menu where you can order dishes usually served in Japan during winter.I started with the Monkfish liver. I am not a fan of liver, so I was a bit iffy to taste this. But it wasn't bad... It wasn't as fishy as I expected plus the soya sauce added a new dimension to the flavour. Next up were the Salmon Oyako Roll and the Bamboo Oyster Roll. Out of the two, I prefer the Bamboo Oyster roll for it's very unique. Instead of bamboo, they used cucumber strips to wrap the ingredients. So, it's very refreshing to the palate. Now, this next dish is a must try: Kaki Kimchi Nabe. It's so perfect for the rainy warm because it is warm soup with lots of fresh ingredients inside. It also is a bit spicy so it's really gonna clear clogged noses. The Sushi Tei restaurant at Ngee Ann City is a newly renovated restaurant which have been relocated at level 5 (Used to be at ground level) and I have always been wanting to come try out their dishes at this branch.There are a lot of people queuing up to eat at Sushi Tei by the time we walked to the restaurant.Sweet sauce, Shoyu sauce, marinated ginger, chilli powder and wasabiThis is one dish which I will always order but you must always remind the staff that you want to have a freshly prepare one, else they might give you those that are on the covert belt which will not be so fresh anymore. Good thing is that Sushi Tei have a standard where you can tell them to change one if the dish is not fresh.My friend's favorite fish dish and they are nicely grilled with crispy skin and tender meat of the Salmon. Nice when you squeeze some lemon onto it before eating.My favorite dish of fresh salmon and rod together with sushi rice instead of those normal white rice. To be generalized, the sushi variety is adequate but the taste is really just normal sushi you can find in other place or outlet. Some negative part is the choice of ingredient used. For instance, the tuna is really dry and a little bit tasteless, maybe due to the long keeping hours that alter the taste and quality. The baby octopus is also not very fresh. The chawanmushi is also not what I thought it will be - it is a little bit tasteless, more seasoning should be added. Sushi Tei is one of my favourite Japanese food restaurants; I somehow find their bowl of katsu-don very comforting and hunger busting. While they strive to produce fresh quality Japanese food, I always find myself intrigued by their ongoing special menus.Sushi Tei has recently returned to Ngee Ann City, having moved up to Level 5 and taking up a whole lot of space. I would think it will be easier to get seats in their new location. And to celebrate their triumphant return, Sushi Tei has a special “We Are Back!” menu only available for a limited time and only at this particular outlet.I had a bowl of Chasyu Don ($9) from the special menu. Tender roast pork slices, served atop rice are slathered in a nice sweet dark sauce. The egg served in this dish is really good, the egg yolk is molten- literally in a semi solid-liquid form that brings me such joy to savour.Sushi Tei also has another set of promotional menu that changes with the seasons. This Lobster Salad Roll ($8.80) can be found in its current “Early Summer Promotion” menu. I really enjoyed chomping on the fresh lobster bits and crunchy roe topping with the sushi rolls.For dessert, we got Matcha and Yuzu Sorbet ice cream ($3.40 per scoop) from the regular menu. Following the advice of RERG, we ordered individual scoops of ice cream instead of the many bells and whistles parfaits offered in the We Are Back menu. The Yuzu ice cream was very refreshing, packed with tangy citrus yuzu flavour and bits of the fruit. Visited Sushi Tei at Ngee Ann City 2 weeks ago for dinner, We order quite a number of dishes to share but i order the Floss soft shell crab sushi and the fried tofu for myself. It cost me around $15 for both dishes. but it is worth the money. The pork floss really compliments the soft shell crab sushi. It is crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside. My son bought me here for lunch to one weekday afternoon and we ordered quite a few plates of sashimi and some fried tempura. The fried ebi is very sweet and crispy and is quite hot meaning that it is freshly fried.For the sashimi, this is the platter which has tuna, salmon and one other fish which I forgot the name. Each type has three slices so it is best if there are three people so that there is no need to ‘snatch’ over the last piece. I really love the sashimi here. It is very fresh and each slice of sashimi is very thick and sweet. It is one of the best sashimis that I have ever had so far. I didn’t even have to dip it in any soy sauce or wasabi.
