Herbal frog leg was so-so, not fantastic, tasted much better herbal soup even in coffeeshops.

We had the toufu with golden mushroom instead of the recommended toufu with chicken floss, maybe we should have gone with whatever that was recommended, but wanted something lighter, not fried, so opted for the golden mushroom, it is again a rather ordinary dish.

Pad Thai: also not very good, tasted more like normal fried kway teow/mee/kway teow goreng.. whatever, it resembles nothing like the Thailand version of padthai. Maybe because it is too sweet, too much ketchup? Well one thing is they should have used the thai lime instead of the usual small dark green lime. I think the thai lime would have given it a distinctive fragrance.

Finally Olive rice: For $1 what more can i ask for? it is not bad i must say, although no taste of olive, but for $1 it is a steal! I like the idea of having mince meat at the side to complement the rice.

Maybe maybe I would go back again someday and give it a second chance, maybe maybe maybe it was just today that the food somehow just wasnt able to live up to expectations.

I been there before once with my ex-school mate, that time was fantastic I must say but today definitely not. I'm not sure if it's because I went for lunch instead of dinner (the staff told me the chef is the same through). Oh by the way, the staffs were unfriendly and lacked initiative. There were 2 Chinese ladies and didn't even manage a smile, even though they did open doors for us. Food wasn't that nice as before anymore.

I started with TOM YUM soup which proved disappointing. Too diluted, not spicy, not sour, with a hint of tom yum flavor. Value is OK for $12 (enough for 6) but it just did not have enough kick. I will try share off my tom yum for other favorable food.

Heard many rave reviews about Thai Pan, a Thai style cze char restaurant located at the eastern tip of Singapore so made the long trek down to give it a shot. Apparently its claim to fame is its quality food at coffeeshop cze char prices.

Located in a charming colonial style clubhouse within the Civil Service Club's premises at Changi Village, Thai Pan's interior boasts a sloping ceiling with wooden arches, parquet flooring and views of lush greenery through the checkered windows. The place does seem susceptible to echos though, because of the lack of sound dampening/absorbing materials like carpets.

Jade Tofu with Chicken Floss - I thought that the name sounded promising. Jade tofu conjures images of silken tofu with a nice savoury taste. However that wasn't quite the case unfortunately. The skin was a little crisp and the inside was soft but not exactly silky. I struggled to make out the mild savoury taste that the tofu carried but to be fair, it was decent, just nowhere in the league of Pow Sing.

Broccoli with Crab Meat - Personally I thought that this was quite good. There was egg white and small chunks of crab meat in the not too starchy and mildly appetising gravy that layered the crunchy and not overcooked broccoli.

Phad Thai - I didn't quite take this Thai Pan's rendition of this Thai street dish as the ketchup taste was just too overwhelming. I would have prefered a kaleidoscope of flavours and of course the ubiquitous dried shrimps. This one only had egg and chicken cubes.

Olive Rice - At $1 a pop, this was a great deal. But please note that its a promotion so I can't say if it will be a good deal in future. The rice was sufficient for 1 pax and had a nice wok hei taste with egg and cashew nuts. Accompanying alongside was a small serving of slightly sweet minced meat sauce that went well with the rice. The only minor gripe i had was that the rice did seem a little too damp for my liking.

The food was quite decent and the pricing relatively reasonable, at about $24 for 2 pax - a value proposition that comes close to or on par with what the coffeeshop cze char stalls are offering, albeit in a much better environment with better service.

I was having meeting at tampines concourse till 12pm. After the meeting, my boss asked me whether want to join him lunch. I replied okied and asked where he like to have lunch. He suggested to go Changi Sivil Service Club to have lunch and without hestiation we drove there. We decided to go ThaiPan Resturant for our lunch. We ordered a few dishes but overall i think the food taste okie only, not really worth for the money. Don't think i will want to dine there.

Discovered a restaurant opposite Changi Hotel, called ThaiPan. This restaurant name sounds like Thai restaurant, but most of the dishes are chinese food. My favourite dish is the cereal prawns. Its different from other restaurant as the cereal was not crispy, but soft and milky. A different taste that i ever try. This restaurant also do food delivery services.
