My family went to wan chai for dinner, I ordered their shredded pork with sze chuan vegetable served with crispy noodles. I did not have to wait long for my food to be served. It was piping hot. The gravy was peppery and tasty. It was very filling, I love the crispiness of the noodles soaking in the tasty gravy.

This is the first time that i have tried the wan chai at lot 1 and i realized that the food is actually not bad. I had the chicken baked rice, which comes with generous serving of chicken, mushroom, cheese and flavored rice. I love cheese! There was an option to trade up to chicken drumstick for addition $1.50 which i did not, but regretted in the end. They gave a lot of chicken but the chicken breast meat were too dry. This is one of my favorite places for its baked rice. It comes with a soup of the day, which is usually very delicious. The soup today was corn soup, which was flavorful and sweet. I ordered the fish baked rice this time. The rice is not soggy, nicely baked with lots of cheese that fills the entire plate. The fish is soft and goes very well with the cheese and cream. The portion of the rice is quite a lot and I could not finish them, especially with the amount of cheese that makes one even fulle

What you think of Hong Kong. You think of milk tea. I went searching for Milk tea when i was in Hong Kong for 3 weeks last year. One of the best milk tea in Hong Kong can be found at Lan Fong Yuen (兰芳园). We do not have it right here in Singapore so the closer would be those from Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room. The 2 of the most common type of drinks would be the pure milk tea and the milk tea & coffee mix that called Yuan Yang. I love both. The ones here are not as authentic as those in Hong Kong

The 2 of the most common type of drinks would be the pure milk tea and the milk tea & coffee mix that called Yuan Yang. I love both. The ones here are not as authentic as those in Hong Kong but it is good enough for me though it is missing the 'smoothness'. In other word the one here is not as creamy and as full-bodied as those in Hong Kong.

Another must try item is their baked rice. My favorite gotta be the Chicken baked rice. It came with a big chicken leg which i loved and the generous amount of cheese atop of the baked rice and it baked till the perfection of the beautiful golden brown.

If you miss Hong Kong then you should make a trip to here.

Wan Chai special fried rice is perfect for those who are looking for a one-dish meal that fills you up well. Comes with a good portion of prawns and slices of vegetable stems (my favourite because it’s so nice to munch on than leafy shoots!). The rice grains are firm and do not have any excess moisture. I love it. Also, there’s a distinct smokey flavour to the dish. Not bad!

Basically I have been to many Wan Chai tea room outlets in Singapore, which most of them happen to be at heartland areas. I love shrimp and pork dumplings as well as congee in general, a suitable idea for late dinners as its filling and light. At Wan Chai, both congee and dumplings are served together, a two-in-one item. I have got the habit of enjoying the dumplings first followed by congee. A bowl of dumpling congee cost $5.90. My stand of it is that it’s simply tasty. Neither too thick, cream

My stand of it is that it’s simply tasty. Neither too thick, creamy or watery and the dumplings are filled with a generous portion of minced pork and mushroom and of course, succulent prawns.

Apart from the advantage of having the goodness of both worlds in one dish, I think the congee is also very nutritious. Probably boiled with chicken stock and free of MSG as it doesn’t give me the thirsty feeling aftertaste.

A dish that I can have for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bought this takeaway from the outlet @ CCK Lot One after my driving lessons and it tasted just as good as from the others.
