After browsing through Menu, I made up my mind and ordered this. Outstanding set meal, the pork was crispy tender and very perfect to accompany the sweet & spicy sauce. The rice was cooked well, first time I appreciated the rice, it really tasted different with normal plain rice. Salad was not bad, crunchy and fresh. $14.90 for mine, it was worthwhile to have so many dishes in one. Service wise, it was not easy to get staffs’ attention. I think they should recruit more staffs to cope with the crowd.

It was a pleasant visit too.

Our order was served within 10-15 minutes which is superb fast. I am quite impressed with the ordering system. The screen menu was clear and comprehensive so just follow the instruction that appear and it is as easy as you see.

Here are the set that we ordered:-
Beef steak set @ $24.90 which I get to choose on how well the beef I want it to be done through the touch screen. I ordered medium well done and the beef was tender and soft. It taste juicy and blends well with the sauce and the rice. The portion is just nice and filling for me.

C ordered Saba Miso set @ $10.90. I find the size of the saba fish is kinda small and it wasn’t that sizzling hot although it is served in hot sizzling plate. However, the fish texture is smooth and not too dry. It compliments with the sauce to go with the rice.

And of course, we had hot ocha to go with Japanese foods. It costs @ $1.00 per cup and refillable. It is quite standard across all Japanese restaurants in Singapore except for the fine dinning ones.

As for the service wise, the staffs are quite friendly during the serving time. However, maybe due to order computerized system are implement, the manpower of staff maybe has reduced. We need to be alert to look for the staff when we request for refill of hot ocha.

Total dinner costs $44.45 inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST.
It was a filling dinner and quick one too.

Lunch at Yayoiken was ok as the food served was like any other japanese outlet with the common food most other restaurants serve. However, the food standard was not too bad and the ton cut si was nice. The pork cutlet was also quite good and i love how you can accompany the rice with the thick sauce of the pork cutlet. The set meals are quite good and the prices are reasonable.#NTUDAC

I met up with a friend for dinner tonight (he also happens to be quite a well-known food blogger) and he introduced me to this Japanese restaurant at Bugis+. It's not an area that I usually frequent so I hardly get to eat at the new restaurants there. Yayoiken is located on the ground floor of Bugis+ and sells pretty great Japanese sets. I ordered the Special Mix Steak Set ($19.90) which comes with Beef, Chicken, Bacon and a Hamburg Steak with potatoes, bean sprouts, a salad with sesame dressing

The meats here are of quite good quality for the price that you pay, especially the beef. I particularly enjoyed the fried potato cubes which were crispy on the outside, yet soft and mashy on the inside. The staff were very attentive to our needs and friendly as well. I'll definitely love to re-visit this restaurant when I'm in the Bugis area again.

Visited Yayoiken when i was shopping around Bugis with my friend. I ordered a Nasu miso Hokke set as i like brinjals (also known as eggplants). The nasu is dried fried to soft on the inside yet not oily. Stir-fried with red miso and thinly slice pork, it was very appetising though rather salty. A big eater can definitely polish off many bowls of the nice fluffy japanese rice (their rice comes FREE FLOW with their set meal!) with it.

The Hokke is salted and grilled lightly such that it has a nice charred aroma, but the meat remain moist. The miso soup contains seaweeds and small cubes of tofu, just like most of the miso soup served in Japanese restaurants. Lastle, the cold tofu is really soft and sort of melts in your mouth.

I recommend this for a nice, hearty well-balance meal.

Yayoiken a well-known Japanese restaurant chain specialises in serving Japanese-Western cuisine. Ordered the Miso Katsu Set which consisted of rice and soup along with a main dish (Miso Katsu) and two side dishes (Pickles and Beancurd). Yayoiken follows the traditional culinary concept called 'ichiju-sansai' which literally means 'one soup and three sides'. This refers to a three dishes (one main and two sides) along with rice and miso soup.

Free flow of pickles, every table has a bottle full of 'tsukemono' pickles placed at the side.

The Miso Katsu, pork cutlet simmered with miso paste (sauce) was served with potato and an egg. The Miso Katsu was well flavoured but too tough for my liking. In addition, the miso paste made the crust of the katsu soggy. I should have have realised that before ordering. The upside was that the the miso paste complemented well with rice.

Service wise, had a hard time getting the attention of the service staff. They seemed to be under-staff and unable to cope with the crowd.

It was a rainy when we decided to get in Yayoiken at Bugis +. The queue was extremely long, but the staffs were still serving the customers patiently with smile on face. I ordered the Yasai ramen ($9.90) as it looks very good on the menu. I love the big portion of assorted vegetables on the ramen, however, the veggie was stir-fried with too much oil and causing the soup base slightly oily too. Flavour wise, it is good though not overly wow. Pork wafu hamburger set ($14.90) is recommended too. Th

Went to bugis with my friends to shop for my friend's birthday present during lunch time.We decided to go for the new open Japanese cuisine restaurant - Yayoiken to try the food. I had ordered the crispy chicken cutlet (cannot remember the name of the dish). The chicken tasted nice as the chicken had a tender texture and the meat tasted moist and not dry. This is worthy to try and will visit the shop again to try their others food.
