Korean Traditional Charboiled Cry Oct 12, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | BBQ | Kids-Friendly

There was a popular Korean western food restaurant at Tampines One.

When I was window shopping there, my friend and I went in to this BBQ Chicken restaurant to have a try. The service was prompt and food came in a short while after ordering.

Since it was a Korean restaurant, I had decided to order a Korean flavoured chicken in the menu, Korean Traditional Charboiled with Olive Rice.

The chicken meat had heavy grilled aroma, upon tasting the chicken, it was more of burnt than grilled taste on the skin. The meat was tender and juicy with some herb marinate but the burnt taste covered most of the marinate taste.

The olive rice was disappointing. It did not use Korean pearl rice, instead uses white rice which was soft and lumped together.

Overall, the food taste average and was a little disappointed that the chicken meat was grilled until burnt.

Rice Croquette Cry Oct 10, 2013
Categories : Italian | European | Restaurant | Pasta | Kids-Friendly

Capricciosa at JCube was a Japanese italian Restaurant selling pasta and pizza.

I had ordered their restaurant specialty‎, Rice Croquette. Though it was a bit strange to order rice menu from a pasta and pizza restaurant.

The dish came and I could smell the tomato sourish and savoury sauce.

The croquette ball was big with crispy breaded skin on the outside. Inside the croquette ball was stuffed with Japanese style rice and some cheese.

Though the appearance looked appetising, the croquette tasted quite bland if eaten without the sourish tomato sauce.

Overall, I think I would better order a pizza or pasta than a rice menu when I dine there again.

Chashu-Men Cry Oct 09, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen

Although Parco is always a very desserted quiet mall, there was one food outlet that was blazing with business and with long queue during meal times.

This was a Japanese Ramen store at top level of Parco.

Their menu was quite limited. All Chashu Men only. Hence I ordered their standard Chashu Men.

When the dish came to my table, the Ramen was full of spring onions on top but I could smell some "burnt" smell.

A taste of the soup, there was also some burnt taste, maybe it was garlic oil.

The noodle was well cooked and springy.

The chashu was normal though, I prefered those with many fats on the outter layer.

Overall, this Japanese Ramen store was not my liking as the soup has too much burnt taste. The prices were also on the higher side as compared to other Japanese Ramen Restaurant.

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Dinner)

Original Beancurd Cry Oct 08, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

When I saw there were many people queueing at this Lao Ban BeanCurd stall, I also went to queue to try their offering.

They have quite a number of flavours of beancurd on sale. But I think I thought it would be safer to try their famous orginal one.

The beancurd smelled like almond pudding. The look of the beancurd also looked like one.

The texture of the beancurd was not like regular beancurd, it was slightly softer and more slippery.

The taste was somewhat not as good as I would be expected. More of creamer taste than soya bean taste and a bit too sweet for my liking. There was a hint of vanilla or almond essence, I am not too sure.

Overall, at this price I would prefer have hot orginal beancurd from other traditional stalls than this one.

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Tea)

The Matiz Cry Oct 07, 2013
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

I heard that Kraze Burger was quite famous in Korea and they had already opened a few branches in Singapore. So I went to buy a takeaway to try.

Their menu was quite limited, only a few beef burgers to choose from and all were quite similar in ingredients. Hence, I choose The Matiz.

The packaging of the burger looked cute, the box like something we saw at American takeaway chinese food box.

The Burger looked quite attractive from the outside, with thick bread layer, beef patty, many vegetables and of course bacon.

However, a bit on the burger will be quite different.

The beef patty tasted quite dry and similar beef taste to McDonald's beef patty. The bacon was fried just nicely, not overly fried like those at Burger King.

Eventhough there was a lot of vege, it could not help the dryness of the beef patty.

Overall, with the high price they were selling, I would expect much more from them.
