Sliced fish hotpot OK Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Food Court

This is the Sliced Fish Hotpot ($22). This portion is alright for 3 people (small eaters, of course). The hotpot includes fish slices (obviously haha), seaweed, yam sticks, silken tofu, and some cabbage. The cabbage was very soft and the yam sticks were fragrant. Although the fish slices were smooth, I found them to be a little fishy. Soup is refillable upon request or if the servers see that you're running low, they will take the initiative to refill it. I went on a weekday night and although most tables were filled, it wasn't too crowded.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Dinner)

sushi OK Jul 27, 2013

This is the California Handroll. The seaweed is packed separately and you have to roll it yourself to ensure that the seaweed doesn't get soggy after staying in the package for too long. This handroll tasted sweet (due to the tamago and mayonnaise) and refreshing (because of the cucumber) at the same time. It can be a full meal on its own as there is quite a bit of rice in there. I felt semi-full after just one handroll.

These are tuna and crabmeat mayonnaise wrapped in soft beancurd skin. I didn't really like that the beancurd skin is slightly sweet. I prefer the crabmeat one to the tuna one as it was lighter. This meal costs me less than $5.

This is the 2 pcs chicken and 3 pcs shrimp ($7.00) with crispy fries and a regular drink. The batter was definitely crunchy and I think Long John Silver's is still known for that. However, the size of the chicken has definitely gone down over the years. They have cut down the size of the chicken and added more crunchy flakes but that is not a good trade up. The chicken was dry but it was still soft.

Got the Cheesy Fries and Chips Combo ($3.50) with one regular drink. 'Natural Cut' Skin-On Potato Chips as a "side". I like the feel of the potato chips as it was slightly harder than lays potato chips and it was very crunchy! The cheese dip was a good complement to the chips. It's like a nachos and cheese combo that you can get at the cinema.

Fish Penyet OK Jul 25, 2013   (Related Review)

Back to try the Indonesia Penyet stall. This time, I ordered the Fish Penyet ($6.90) this time. For $6.90, you can one whole pomfret, rice and tofu. You also get a generous serving of chili, which was a waste for me as the chili is too spicy for my liking. My mouth burns up after just one small bite of the chili. The fish was soft but the meat was slightly stuck to the bones. A little scaly too especially nearer to the end. The dish's saving grace was its sweet brown sauce that complements the rice perfectly. I will try adding lime to the fish or meat next time.

Caramel macchiato OK Jul 25, 2013   (Related Review)

Got the Caramel Macchiato ($3.20) as a quick perk-me-up. Compared to Starbuck's Caramel Macchiato, this one is less thick but sweeter. The foam was smooth and glided down my throat. Even after leaving it out for quite some time, the drink still retained its distinct coffee aroma. Perhaps it has something to do with the coffee beans. In addition, the coffee was not bitter at all.

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Tea)
