Good for Complexion! :) OK Aug 12, 2011

Beancurd dessert with Ginkgo

This is one of my favourite dessert which my mum once told me it is good for complexion and ever since then it become my favourite. If you want to please your girlfriend, wife or even you mum buy beancurd dessert with ginkgo maybe it will works! tongue

I used to patronize this stall often during my secondary school days. It had been almost 5 years since I visit them. Thus, the taste wasn't what I expected. I have a sweet tooth and it wasn't sweet for me. Maybe you on the other hand will like it a little bland. For me I have to have my dessert sweet because life is tough and you just need the dose of sweetness. smile

I personally does not like ginkgo nuts but this time round I ate it. It wasn't that bad actually! As time pass, taste change too. Thus, don't hesitate to try what you don't like in the past - you might be missing out something in life.

It isn't an easy job to get the ginkgo nuts done.

After peeling the shell, one have to remove the tiny seed.

Thus, do eat the ginkgo nuts next time!

Some places do sell it with barley in it.

Confusing Prawn Noodle OK Aug 12, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Kids-Friendly

This stall was new to me, so I decided to give it a try! I saw the menu on the banner and it pretty much attracted me. I saw the prawn noodle set and decided to order it. I thought it was the herbal type prawn noodle after interpreting the picture on the menu, but I was so wrong.

I happily ordered it and the cashier was asking me if I want noodle or rice. So I insisted that I wanted the noodle. Then she was saying, "not nice lah, must have it with rice." Still, after she said so I ordered the noodle with the prawn soup which I still thought it was herbal prawn noodle.

The other staff was asking again, "you sure you want noodle." Then confidently I said "YES!" Then she was saying "you will regret." She went on asking do I need any sauce for my noodle. Having tons of question marks in my head, I asked her what sauce are you referring to?

First time in my life I ate yellow noodle with black pepper sauce. After much anticipating, the prawn soup was served on my tray.

It was kind of Tom Yam prawn soup!

Wrong kind of combination with the noodle! But the noodle with the black pepper sauce was nice surprisingly. The Tom Yam soup was nice expect that there's too much chili seeds and too few ingredients in the soup. Maybe they can add some crab stick or fish cake as just solely with the prawn was kind of plain.

What an experience! smile

Another Option For Delivery OK Aug 11, 2011

Categories : Italian | Pasta | Halal

The key attraction for me to order PastaMania was neither the Pizza nor Pasta but the Potato Salad!

I just love the chunks of potatoes tossed in creamy mayonnaise topped with chives! If they ever sell it in Supermarket I will get it for my 3 meals daily. I will never get sick of the taste.

We ordered the double delights that comes with 1 pizza, 1 pasta, garlic bread, and 2 cokes.

The garlic bread and the Hawaiian pizza were okay, nothing special about it.

Usually I had the Creamy Chicken Pasta but that day I felt like having something different so I ordered the Chicken Ham Cheesy Crumble. It was a wrong choice! Too cheesy for me...

Something unique about PastaMania delivery is that they will give you a pack of tissue that is printed with the 'reserved' wording and with their own branding on it. And there's very Singaporean style whereby most of the Singaporeans will use tissue pack to reserve their seats at Food Court.

Airport Ban Mian OK Aug 11, 2011
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Food Court | Noodles

2 fools who travelled all the way to Changi Airport to eat Qiu Lian Ban Mian! Initially we wanted to have Astons but looking at the long queue and over heard the waiter said that the waiting time for the food to be served is 40 minutes excluding the waiting time to get a table. So, we decided to head to the food court.

The food court wasn't any better! It was flooded with people, mainly Singaporeans! Despite the huge food court, the demand were pretty overwhelming! It took us 15 minutes to get a table. We were half exhausted by the time we travelled from terminal to terminal. Thus, we ordered what was in front of us.

The Qiu Lian Ban Mian here wasn't that fantastic then elsewhere.

The soup wasn't that thick over here, it was a bit too bland. And it was quite weird, they didn't offer red cut chili. Thus, I had to steal it from its neighbour. Opss. shocked

The Tom Yam version was ordinary too.

I guess it depend which Qiu Lian Ban Mian you visit, the taste is not universal.

Affordable Japanese Buffet OK Aug 06, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

A lot of people tend to stereotype Japanese food is expensive. You are not wrong, but not necessary for Japanese buffet. In fact, some of the Japanese restaurants that offer Japanese buffet are a lot cheaper than the usual buffet.

The pricing:

Lunch @ $26++, dinner @ $30++

At Kuru Kuru the layout of the restaurant is quite small. If you are lucky enough you get big table, else you will have to make do with the small square table for 2.

Overall, most of the dishes were okay except the pizza. The dishes served were small in portion, so you get to try out more dishes on the menu. You can check out this Japanese buffet as the buffet pricing is quite attractive!
