The Best Roti Prata! Smile Dec 02, 2011

Categories : Indian | Halal

He always wanted to have Roti Prata from Roti Prata House for dinner but I always dismissed the idea as Roti Prata is very oily and consider fatty food. Then that day when we had our dinner at A1 Porridge, he complaint he was hungry still so he wanted to take away Roti Prata since A1 Porridge is located just a few shop houses away from Roti Prata House.

While walking in, I had a thought "Their Roti Prata so nice meh, why so many people eating here."

When I saw their menu:

I decided to order too despite the fact that I had a mild fever, and a bad cough. The choice of flavours is very extensive! They even have the Chicken Floss Roti Prata. Very impressive menu!

I was anticipating to find out what's so special about their Roti Prata that attracts so many people over here at Roti Prata House. So when I reached home, I eagerly try it out.

Milk Prata

Oh man, it is really the best Roti Prata! It is not the ordinary Roti Prata, the Roti Prata from Roti Prata House is different. It is extremely crispy and of the right mixture of dough. The Milk Prata is awesome - a nice combination! The condense milk add sweetness to the Prata and I can even finish the whole Prata without dipping the curry sauce or adding any sugar! It was such a pleasure and it definitely change my mind set of having Roti Prata.

He had 1 egg 2 plain Roti Prata which were equally crispy like mine.

After trying the Roti Prata here, I am addicted to it and this will be my usual place for Roti Prata although the Prata is quite pricey. It cost $9.50 for the above mentioned. Now with such a nice Roti Prata, who cares if it is fattening! smile

I can clearly say that the Roti Prata from Roti Prata House is the best! It definitely beat out the one at Jalan Kayu.

If you are looking for the best Roti Prata, it is here here here!

I haven heard of A1 Porridge despite the amazing 19 outlets they now own. It was only when I was sick and was looking for porridge along Upper Thomson then I found this A1 Porridge and decided to give it a try.

A1 Porridge doesn't really sell solely porridge, they sells claypot dishes, hot plate dishes and some soups:

I was so tempted to try out some of the claypot dishes but as a sick person I couldn't and my choice was limited to porridge.

The Chicken Porridge ($5.90) texture is very smooth, just that too much sesame oil is added which somehow spoil the original taste of the porridge. The portion of the porridge is good enough for 2. I couldn't finish the porridge alone.

Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken ($7.90) he felt that the chicken could be marinated longer to soak the fragrance of the sesame oil.

How does Ye Zhi Mei Bao look like?

It is bigger than the usual Dao Bao maybe 4 times the size of the Dao Bao. Yes, that huge! smile

In order to fill the stomach, normally we will need at least 2 Bao or even 4 sometimes. This Ye Zhi Mei Bao is different, you probably are satisfy halfway through eating the Bao! The chicken fillings inside the Bao is generous.

The chicken meats used is not fatty at all and it is nicely marinated - not overly wet but juicy enough.

Forgot how much exactly the Ye Zhi Mei Bao cost but roughly about $4 range.

The Ye Zhi Mei Bao is idea for breakfast or lunch but I suggest you cut it into half and share it or you will feel overwhelm by the chicken fillings; overly meaty.

I will rate it a 4/5 if I consume the Ye Zhi Mei Bao alone and a 5/5 if share among.

Changi Village Curry Fish Head Smile Dec 01, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Food Court | Seafood

Every 2 weeks, I used to have this $10 marvelous curry fish head at Changi Village. Ever since the coffee shop owner had sold the whole coffee shop which is now the halal coffee shop located right beside Q'San Eating House, I stopped coming to Changi Village.

Then one day when I was near Changi Village, he said he wanted to have dinner at this Zhi Char stall so we did.

Eventually we ordered the Curry Fish Head ($18) and a pork dish ($10) recommended by the staff.

When I had a sip of the curry, the taste was quite similar to the $10 curry fish head I used to patronize. The spiciness is just right, not too overly spicy. The portion of the fish head is reasonable to the price paid, the fish meat is not fishy at all - nicely handle. What's more the curry is thick; enough to satisfy you! For the price of $18, I will say quite worth it!

This dish doesn't look appetizing but it is real good! It is crispy and very fragrance. This is the first time I see Zhi Char restaurant using the fried garlic skin as the ingredient of a dish - it enhance the fragrance of the dish.

I felt that the pricing of their dishes were reasonable and affordable, usually most Zhi Char restaurants price their Curry Fish Head above $22 and for a meat dish $12 and above. More over the portion of the pork dish is really a lot that 2 of us couldn't finish it.

Do check out this Zhi Char!

I was a little surprise to spot this stall at a coffee shop selling snow ice!

32 Degrees Fahrenheit is daring enough to sell snow ice at coffee shop. Usually we can only spot snow ice at shopping centre right?

After having my dinner at the coffee shop, having snow ice as dessert is just something new to me!

They do have a lot of different flavours which once you see it, you are just tempted to order one.

I ordered the Milk Special with Corn Flakes ($4). I simply love it, it is not too milky and the Corn Flakes and chocolate syrup just make it heavenly.

The Coffee Special with Coco Crunch suit coffee lover.

It is just different having snow ice compare to having ice kachang. If 32 Degrees Fahrenheit set up a stall at the coffee shop near my house, I will patronize them almost every day. Their desserts is addictive!

If they could lower the price to maybe $2.50 then I think they will be well receive as $4 for a snow ice is slightly steep at a coffee shop environment.
