Two of my friends won the $40 GrandStand vouchers each from OpenRice. What a coincidence! So we pay GrandStand a visit before the voucher ends.

FOOD

Crispy Skin Roasted Pork Belly

This is quite crispy and the "skin" has a thick layer of fats though

Seafood Fried Rice with XO Sauce

My favourite dish of all! The fried rice smells so great with XO sauce. It's also quite tasty.

Fried prawn fritters with sweet sauce

It's quite crispy and I like the sweetness that makes the combination so awesome.

Char Siew Polo Bun

The polo bun is so crispy and sweet. The Char Siew inside has those roasted-like taste which makes it taste so good!

Mango Pomelo Sago

This desert is quite normal like other mago pomelo sago, jsut that it topped off an extra vanila ice-cream. It's abit too sweet though.

AMBIENCE

It has the romantic kind of dinner setting which will awe you. An ideal place to dine in with your special ones! Besides food, they also have a mini retail shop that customers can shop while wait for their food to come!

SERVICE

The staff are quite friendly and approachable. They even take the initiative to help us to take photographs.

Visited KungFu Paradise for the 2nd time to try out their menu...

FOOD

Sweet and Sour Fish with egg

I love the crispiness of the cube fish fillets, and the sweet-soury sauce that goes well with the fish. Though it looks rather normal, but taste really great to me!

KungFu Burger

A western-inspired burger, this is a sandwich of grilled chicken thigh with teriyaki-like sauce. Awesome! but abit oily.

PRICE

The prices are reasonably cheap considered its location at a city area. The food are mostly good.

SERVICE

The staffs are quite well-mannered, and will try their best to satisfy your request.

Imperial High Tea @ $20++ Smile Jul 12, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Sichuan | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood

Si Chuan Dou Hua changes their afternoon tea menu monthly, and the following dim sums are for the month of June.

FOOD

Five delicacies of the Petites Selection of Tapas

The five delicacies are: Jelly fish, Fresh Prawn Salad, Shredded Chicken with sesame, Sichuan Preserved Vegetables and Ling Zhi Mushroom with Onion Oil. Very unique delicacies from china.

Steamed Crystal Dumpling

This crystal dumpling is quite special. It has those peas, carrots, corns, prawns being wrapped in it. Tasty!

Steamed Spinach Prawn Dumpling

Besides prawn, it has some minced spinach in the dumpling. Even the "skin" is also spinach-like colour. A special dumpling!

Si Chuan Chilled Noodle with Shredded Chicken

One of Si Chuan specialities - Chilled Noodle. It's quite normal, but would taste better if it's soup based as it's rather dry.

Seafood Dumpling

It's just like the normal dumpling we see outside. Nothing special

Deep Fried Sweet Corn Pancake

So this pancake is too sweet, but I'd give a thumbs up for their creativity. How common do we see sweet corn pancake outside?

Steamed Mini Yam Bun

The texture of the skin is rather weird, and the combination doesn't seems to go well. I'd still prefer the steamed yam Xiao Long Bao in Din Tai Fung instead.

Steamed Custard Bun

Not so satisfying as there's not much of larva flowing out, and not comparable to those of paradise group which are the top on my list.

Homemade Bean curd with Wolfberry

Their special bean curd that I always love! A sweet touch of the desert was added to complete the afternoon tea

AMBIENCE
Si Chuan Dou Hua is a perfect place to have an afternoon tea with friends and just watch the world roll by... Being situated on high floor, one can admire the beautiful landscape of Singapore while having tea and chilling out. A quiet and peaceful place to calm your nerves and relax. Recommended to go during weekdays afternoon as it's really deserted. Bookings are advised to made early if you plan to go there during weekend afternoon.

PRICE
The high tea is priced at $20++ per person. It has 2 kind of teas, 8-9 type of dim sums, and it's quite filling to the stomach. It's considered cheap especially it offers good view and great food. What's more to ask for?

Spending per head: Approximately $25(Tea)

Birthday dinner Smile Jul 09, 2013   (Related Review)

Had my birthday treat at one of my favourite restaurants...

FOOD

Tung Lok's Roasted Pork

The "skin" is quite crispy which makes it so appealing. This dish is quite popular and need reservation before coming.

Boiled Prawns

The prawns are quite big and fresh. They have a special sauce which tastes great when eaten with the prawns.

Pork with fruits

The gravy is abit sour but the pork is quite crispy. Not too bad nevertheless!

Fried Golden Mushroom with Kale

I like the fragrance of the fried golden mushroom. Quite crispy and tasty too!

Tung Lok's Chili Crab

It was served with the fried buns. The buns were crispy and the chili crab gravy would taste better if more chili was added to it.

My birthday cake + Tung Lok's Longevity buns

The longevity buns were actually their custard buns in a different "wrapping".

SERVICE

So I was surprised when the waitress served us the longevity buns together with my birthday cake coupled with a chinese poetry wrote by the chef. Out for so many restaurants I have been, this was the first restaurant that went the extra mile for my birthday celebration, left me with an unforgettable impression. The poetry is mainly a birthday greeting written in chinese poem. The waitresses also sang a birthday song to me personally instead of playing the music on soundtrack. Could feel the sincere wishes coming from them. Kudos to them!

OVERALL

I'd always love Tung Lok's grp of restaurants. They offer great food and service, always portraying a positive side of their reputation and image to the customers. smile

FOOD

Unagi Sushi

Big slice of Unagi, fresh and tasty!

Ubi Sushi

I love the crispiness of the ubi wrapped in a roll of tiny "egg" and sushi roll

Soft-Shell Crab

Very soft and crispy

Salmon Sashmi and Teriyaki Chicken

The salmon sashimi is quite fresh and a slice is quite big. As for the teriyaki chicken, it tastes quite normal, and a little salty.

Tako-yaki and Fried Toufu

Both taste quite normal and a little salty

Shabu Shabu

This is like a steamboat pot, and they will give you the ingredients like mushroom, vegetables, chicken/beef (based on choice), carrot, Toufu. You can even cook salmon sashimi if you are sick of eating it raw!

AMBIENCE

Nested in a quiet industrial area away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this restaurant offers a good place for dining in and catching-up and friends.

PRICE

$42.80++ for a wide range of sashimi, sushi, shabu shabu and other cooked jap food, it's really worth it!
