The Cold Pantry Smile Dec 30, 2014

Categories : Café | Frozen Yogurt | Ice Cream and Gelato

Situated along Rangoon road, there is this small shop, The Cold Pantry, selling frozen yogurt. When I stepped into the shop, the light colors they used in their shop brighten up my day smile I was greeted a very warm welcome by 3 ladies in the shop, I believed one of them is the creator of The Cold Pantry.

The menu was passed to me quickly and for my first glance, I saw this exciting combi "Movie date" which consists of popcorn & nachos !! I immediately chose it smile My younger brother chose the "Dark Desire" as he is nuts over chocolate! It took quite awhile for our frozen yogurt to be served so I went round the shop taking photos. There are props provided too to let customers take fun shots within their shop premises.

After our yogurt is served, I immediately scooped all the way to the bottom of the glass, where I could taste nachos, frozen yogurt & popcorn all in 1 mouthful. The "Movie date" combi was surprising yummy & fun! The "Dark Desire" combi wasn't as fantastic as the "Movie date", as Oreos + Pound cake combi didn't spark off but my younger brother still loves it because he said its very choco-licious! Lol smile Both cups are $5.90 each.

Definitely we will come back for 2nd round as there are other interesting combi on the menu! Stay tune for more updates on my page smile

Frozen by a 1000 blessings Smile Dec 26, 2014

After seeing food bloggers blogging about this new yogurt place, I decide to come see & taste for myself. Frozen was situated at a corner below HDB block 126, Toa Payoh. Very prominent as its facing the public carpark. I love the "wood" feel of the shop front, it protraited a natural nature  feel smile While I was busy taking photos of their shopfront, a young lad with smiley face actually came out from the shop & gave me a polite greeting smile Thumbs up for his gesture!

He asked: "Would you like to come in & give our yogurt a try?" Ohhhh.. 😄 Oh gosh! A woman's weak point, cannot resist desserts & nice looking young lads! Wahahaha. So I proceeded in smile

The interior was so clean with yogurt dispensers properly installed on 1 side, while toppings were cleanly laid in small bowls near the cashier counter. They have quite a variety of toppings. I didn't do a proper count but I think more than 20 🙀 There are also nutrition value cards for you to read up on, stating how much calories/ energy you're taking.

Ok, back to the young lad. He let me try all the flavours they have that day. From Natural to Coconut, Mango Soy, Chocolate, Green tea & Pomegranate. I love Pomegranate frozen yogurt the most so I chose it as my final choice. My hubby prefers the mango soy & coconut so he got 2 flavours in his cup. The yogurt were smooth & not too sweet, I like!! Kids will surely like the chocolate flavoured yogurt because it tastes like chocolate milk!

Frozen by A Thousand Blessings yogurt by weight. $3.80 for 100g. Toppings range from different types of chocolate to cheesecake to fruits to popcorn etc.. Too many to be named. My hubby was so greedy on his toppings (too many choices) so his share alone costs $11.

Nevertheless, both of us enjoyed our visit. With yummy yogurt + cozy environment & friendly staff, this is definirely a "will come back again" dessert place for us smile

民众菜馆 Ming Chung Smile Dec 23, 2014

Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Coffeeshop | Seafood | Zi Char

While we are still discussing where to have our late night dinner after movies, suddenly my hubby shouted "民众" from behind! But we just had it YESTERDAY! Lol. Ming Chung Restaurant (民众), started in 1933, specializes in Authentic Heng Hua (兴化) cuisines. They used to be operating near Sungei road before moving to Maude.

兴化卤面 Henghua Lor Mee- Their signature noodles. The heng Hua noodles has a good springy texture. The broth is sweet & fragrant, from the combination of lor bak, la la clams, prawns, sliced pork, vegetables etc! It's a HIT!! Add in vinegar & it's a Da Bomb! The next "must-order" dish is la la clams. Stir fried in spicy bean paste sauce, the gravy is sooo good!

Other than these 2 delicious dishes, my hubby's usual order will also includes Deep Fried Batang fish, Cuttlefish kangkong, Prawn Paste Chicken Wings etc... The fish & chicken wings are so crispy & yummy, you will lay your fingers for more! Cuttlefish is Q & vegetables really fresh. (So now you know why DIETING always fails??! 😂😂😂) Try the deep fried prawns also.
Another locals favorite is the prawn rolls, but those sold here tasted ordinary to me so you could skip it smile

Conclusion: Most of the dishes here are good, portions ideal. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant has 2units, air-con & non air-con areas for you to choose. Ample parking in opp. building. So what are you waiting for? Move your butts here!

[Beegurt]

I was traveling around Thomson area, in search for food when this small little shop was spotted in a corner. Thomson V Two was the name of the building. My brother & I decide to give it a shot as the yellow logo quite attracts us smile

The unit was small, less than 10 seats,  and no decorations was seen around the interior. A very basic shop dressed in white. Nevertheless, we proceed to order our cold treat.

Beegurt basically sells frozen yogurt with New Zealand raw honeycomb. Their Beegurt special consists of yogurt with honeycomb + 2 toppings. Toppings from fresh fruits to nuts to chocolate & candies for you to choose from. For $6.80, the portion is abit small but taste won over the size..

I like their smooth yogurt texture with milky aftertaste & the honeycomb is good.. The sweetness is not too overpowering & I love it smile

It was drizzling outside while we are enjoying our frozen yogurt.. Cold weather is best accompanied with frozen yogurt or ice cream! Shiok to max!!

A new halal concept cafe/ice cream Parlour in the east. Situated at upper changi road, it occupies a small 10 seater unit in East Village. The place is very easy to find, it is just opposite simpang bedok hawker.

When I first stepped into Salty Peanut, I was greeted by the friendly staff & this is a good start! I asked my hubby to find himself a seat while I go "explore" the ice cream!

There are more than 10 choices of ice cream. When I ask the staff to intro me to the nicer ones, he said ALL ARE NICE smile He allows me to try all!! Woohoo so nice!!

The interior was quite simple with superhero portraits, a clock that needs some calculation before you know the time (hahaha) & one old skool camera hung on the pillar.

Personally, I like their signature Salted Peanut the most!! It's really yummy! So it landed on my waffle.. Heehee! As for the 2nd ball, I chose Espresso! Love the coffee richness & I know my Kopi-fanatic hubby wold love it too. It's $10.50 for waffle with 2 balls of ice cream, price is reasonable.

Overall experience was good! I will come back for more PEANUTS!!
