Huge Set Menu Udon and Don Meal! Smile Jan 25, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Chinese Soup

To cure the starving point of my evening night after not snacking in between afternoon, the Waraku set meal including a bowl of gohan, katsu, miso and udon was the best choice. For $20+, you are entitled to get everything in a go!

Rice and katsu was self explanatory and at least well-done in frying. Not too much grease and the crisp is just correct, breaded in bread crumbs. Rice was warm when served. Udon was also as of normal standard with clear broth soup and the white chewy noodles with your seaweed and those pink colored fish slices. Miso wasn't too salty. For this I'm going for the portion with the good price given but Waraku definitely knows well of course what they are cooking, and its what you expect.

I had to forgive the service was slow becuase it was a full house, it was rather hard to call in a waiter, as they're hard to come by and I had to just went over to the pitcher and get the water myself.

takeaway mini 'steak' Smile Jan 19, 2012

The place where I can always count on when wanting to eat pure western and protein and not spending too much money at my school's cafe; just a run off away is Astons Express.

With $6.5 nett, I ordered the chicken teriyaki sauce with side dishes of pasta salad and baked potato.

bowlThe good part: you know when its freshly served as it took about 10 full minutes before my order came out in a very non-peak hour ( I was the only one ) and waiting for them to cook it out and boil the potato.

The potato was given whole, very hot and soft as the butter melted down. The pasta was just cooked al dente but i expected more vegetables, this was just pasta with some light cream sauce.

Chicken was at the right portion between juicy and hard for its fibers, and sweetness for the teriyaki. Of course, it was sort of destroyed with the tomato ketchup and chilli. lol

chopstickThe bad thing: You NEED PATIENCE FOR THE BEST FOOD TO COME, bang for yer buck.

New menu in a crunch base! Smile Jan 11, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café

After for so long and still studying, my classmates and I headed to our cafe because we didn't have any idea wherelese to save money and eat.

For the goodness sake of it (we study in LASALLE so we know that eating in 15 Minutes daily won't help anything).

Trying to find something new which is not always in the menu, I ordered their new menu, a mexican dish I can't recall the exact name. Everyone was looking at my plate thereafter, asking "what is that that looks cool man! I should've ordered that than these measly looking pasta", said one of my pals.

Stuffed in a fried wonton skin, the tacos thing was filled with shreds of cabbage/lettuce and drizzled over the chicken meat, cheese with the tomato sauce and cubes ala mexican. It could slide and sit around the plate. The portion is considered small but it is presented in such an interesting manner that whets your appetite!mad

There's no rice here, so its practically your minimal carbo intake, and the taste, without extra tabasco, is a tad spicy. The meat is cooked well done so if you're the western person, this is a good try!

Groupon Offer of FIsh palate! Smile Jan 11, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Seafood | Halal | Kids-Friendly

As said, the Groupon offer gives off 50% off the original price from $30 for getting a combo meal of soup and main course meal of lemon fresh herbs steamed fish with rice.

We were given soft drinks as complimentary drinks as part of it too.

The dish came at a very long time and to my surprise as it was my first time eating at Manhattan, rumor has it that their portion is fairly huge. To my dismay, it was in a special smaller bowl of wok, which I felt 'cheated' because of the discount given. I'm not so sure if this is the original portion size so Openricers, give a say if you order this steamed fish menu and it is this size.tongue

The pumpkin soup tasted bland. I added a load of salt and black pepper.

Taste however can't be cheated as the fish is very much softly cookedchopstick, dissolving in your mouth in an instant with the fresh appetizing herb sauce spritz with lemon!! Vegetables were boiled of carrots and brocolli in a small sized portion. The rice also, was in small portion.

Other than the service and portion, I have to give chopstickchopstickchopstick for the taste. It's goooood!

I miss my Pho Smile Jan 09, 2012
Categories : Vietnamese | Food Court

AND TO SAY, to present you the best pho that I miss so much.

I dont' know where else to eat pho or vietnamese food around town as its not generally found in most food stalls and such, and pho noodles with beef brisket slices has the most aromatic and refreshing soup noodle broth I know, more than ramen.

It's been a while since I've eaten this, and passing over the SMU KOUFU and to see a lone stall with an auntie serving up, the hot soup is filled to the brim of the big pot with the signature onion rings.

Not exactly as the ones I've eaten best back in town in a more flavorful broth, this cured my dreaming of eating pho. For $4, and an additonal $1++ you should get rolls but it was sold out when I came. This is then a place to bookmark to get some good for your wallet and vietnamese food fix! Sure to come here again and get some inner energy!
