Super awesome that they've expanded after ION! I dunno why they open in Bedok but lucky for me while I was visiting out of the blue I introduce this to my cousin who never has tried it before (Is she crazy?! Yes.) tongue

So we tried the egg mayo on top. I don't know the difference until when they prepared, its the same takoyaki they make but this time instead of the fish flakes they do for topping, its an egg/mayo mix.

The taste gives a richer and creamier overall to your whole bite of the tako! SUPER DELICIOUS. Will always get this one. But the fish flakes are still OK too.lol

always, always get it with the matcha float. They're nicer here too - the ice cream was much given much more and it was heavier than the one i buy in ION! Tee hee!

Slurp to the last bit Smile Dec 18, 2010

Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Hawker Centre | Noodles

I have to say, this is the best eating experience.

The noodle, which you can choose its portion size of $3/4/5, (mine was $3), has sotong, prawn, and bits of pork and fish in the mix. The cook was helped by most likely his mom to peel off the seafood and vegetables personally, so with their GRADE A in hygiene, shouldn't be too worried.

The food is mixed with both noodles and beehoon. MUST ADD CHILLI NO MATTER WHAT, that makes the taste oh so perfect.lol

At first, when i started eating it, it tasted just like any other normal fried noodles. But the more you eat and chew, the taste just starts to get you and it's quite unexplainable, it's so flavorful but not as thick as curry, if you get what I mean. The process of where the flavor sticks to your tongue and builds from there on is an experience one must try it yourself. Let me know if the crescendo-ing taste doesn't work for ya. tongue

SUPER RECOMMENDED. Couldve eaten more though, $5 for a ultra filling portion! smile

mee siam and lontong love Smile Nov 30, 2010

Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre | Noodles

I was torn between to compare all the nasi lemaks in this Tiong Bahru market and to try something else which was their lontong, recommended here. Surprisingly, the the lontong and mee siam was $2.50 On other reviews, it stated that their nasi lemak was previously $1.50 and the rest $2. This is an amazing price but I could see the tape they covered over the old price, so it was true, but maybe because of the recession.

But for this price, the serving portion was not bad at all, this is a pretty good steal and the taste is authentic! Truthfully, I wanted to try this stall of the cheap nasi lemak price. But when I knew it was all now in general the same price, of $2.50.

I ordered the lontong, which not only had lontong and the curry soup, but a big sized fried tofu, and she gave an egg, the vegetables. It was quite a big portion and I'm surprise! The taste was also good - although a bit bland for a 'curry' as we might know it should be super rich in taste and spices, this one is not so rich but I guess good for half of the nation who doesn't/cant stand the thickness of something.

The mee siam, as I only tried a spoon, was not bad too! Another try next time!

Yammy Yummy Smile Nov 30, 2010

Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

As was recommended on this page, I tried their yam paste dessert! I was feeling of wanting to have desserts this week. My colleague ordered the mochi balls with sesame paste inside and peanut sauce. All of the desserts are hot, there's no cold dessert. You can try the Tian Tian Yuan Dessert House, where I tried their ice kachang before!

In general, they're all at $2.50, while the peanut and the mochi balls are $2 (other options are almond, peanut and one more which I forgot).

The yam paste: THIS WAS AWESOME. First, I was taken aback by the brownish color while I was expecting purplish. Like it matter but I'm just sharing. lol Then, the paste was not thick creamy, it was really more liquid soft, and it was not too sweet; it tasted just great with the gingko nuts. You know if you eat the yam paste too much you'll feel that you can throw up, but this one, I think I can eat this all the way! Silken hot paste and not too sweet, just great!

The mochi balls are also one deeeeelish thing! Inside is not just peanut but with white sesame. And the clear peanut soup really is boiled with all its original taste without additional essence. The soup, again was not too sweet. My colleague and I both agree this was one great stall, I think we all diabetes people or not can enjoy such great things in this place!

The stall looked clean and it was an old lady/grandmother selling. THere was one pot for each, and the yam paste in a boiler, the mochi balls in one container, nuts in another, and the pastes/sauces in each tin. Pricewise is yes, a bit more expensive than the usual, but I guess quality and better treatment of the dessert is what you can't get anywhere!

I announce this as the best dessert stall ever with the very liquidy yam paste and all of them so much less-sweetend! Chinatown looses!

Bright lights for xmas Smile Nov 27, 2010

Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

One prominent dessert stall at the Tiong Bahru Market would be this stall. From far, you can see 'dessert' and a Q when peak-hour is ending (hey, its dessert).
I was feeling hot the day so I ordered an Ice Kachang, since the usual red bean milk ice I love (if you guys start knowing most of my coverage) is not on the menu. tongue
I was hoping for a tall tall order, but when it came it was a bit short. Hence, the price was not expensive at all; Ice Kachang ($1.20) and Peanut Ice Kachang ($1.50) difference lies on the sole topping. I was - erhm - lucky as the person made it wrong and added a spoonful of peanut on top but since I paid already and argued 'but I changed my menu' so the lady was like "OK OK go go" tongue

Taste: This is probably the best nice-tasting ice kachang so far. It's not too sweet, with all these colorful syrups and the color is not as bright as others, so not too much coloring/preservative/etc. there? Reminds me of Xmas light colors! But for the 'filling', I didn't think I eaten corn, and they don't give a lot of 'fillings', but other stuff like jelly, grass jelly and black cubes and all are present.

Well, I shall need to try their Cheng Teng ($2) since people were Qing for that - should be famous for! But at least they're one certified dessert stallsmile
