Rooftop Garden Dining Smile Aug 04, 2010

Categories : Fusion | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

Chef Daniel's Kitchen, a newly setup rooftop restaurant located at the Sky Garden (level 7) of lluma at Bugis offers a very valuable Set Lunch @ S$10.50 Nett which includes soup of the day, main course, dessert of the day and a drink. These are some of the items that we have tried......

Soup of the Day:- They have a good range of soup such as cream of mushroom, corn, tomato and etc each day to go with the warm freshly baked herbal bread which comes together with the soup.

Prawn And Crab Meat Burger:- this seafood burger taste great with its yummy seafood patty that is moist and juicy. One add-on point is the fries that comes along with the burger is still hot and crispy while served.

Unagi Cooked in Katsu Sauce:- For me I guess I won't try a Japanese dish in a fusion restaurant unless it is highly recommended. But this bowl of unagi don should be able to fill up your tummy without much complains.

Spaghetti:- served with Pan-fried Dory fillet. This might be a great choice for those who love tomato sauce base spaghetti.

Dessert Of The Day:- Raspberry Mousse Cake is served with some tangerine sauce and the texture is kind of soft and moist with slight sour taste due to the berries.

Must Try Carrot Cake Smile Jul 15, 2010

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre

“Lim Hai Sheng Cooked Food - 林海盛熟食” which is located at Block 724, Ang Mo Kio Ave 6. I am sure those who stays around Ang Mo Kio area would have either tried or heard about this stall that is always pack with queues.

Accordingly to the stall owner, Jenny, they have being operating this stall for more than 30 years starting from her father’s generation. And they only focus on selling the "White" Fried Carrot Cake instead of black and white like some other stalls.

The texture of the carrot cake is soft and fragrant with generous amount of beaten egg and salted turnip (cai po - 菜脯) that lift up the overall taste of this simple dish. Accordingly to some of my readers who frequent this stall, they suggested that next round when I pop-by this stall again, I can actually request them to fried the Carrot Cake longer in order to achieve nore crispy outer layer. So if you prefer more crispy texture, you must send in your request while making your order.

Sakae Buddies Smile Jul 05, 2010
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

Although we have tried countless of the Chawanmushi from Sakae, but I must confess that this is the first time we order this Unagi Chawanmushi. Imagine have a few pieces of tasty grill eel on top with a cup of smooth and silky steam egg custard. Both Rey and his classmate enjoy this little treat which they called it "pudding".

I am always fascinated by its vibrant colour combination. So start from top right to button left to right we have:-

1) Manago Avocado: Decent amount of sushi rice wrap with a layer of nori sheet and top with crunch of lettuce, slices of green apple, mango and avocado. Mum love this combination.

2) Ebi Fry: Rey's buddy choose this as he loves the combi of deep-fry prawn with rice and wrapped with nori sheet and he finished it in less than 2 minutes..... So I guess it must be really nice, must get hold of one on my next visit smile

3) California: This round, I order the California Tamaki which consists of cucumber, imitation crab stick, avocado and a spoonful of fish roes. Yummy!!!

Komala's Paper Masala Dosai” OK Jul 05, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Food Court | Kids-Friendly

Komala's Restaurants are Singapore based restaurants-chain serving Indian vegetarian cuisine for its low priced and high quality of Indian food. There have different branches all over Singapore with stalls located in either Coffee Shop or Shopping Mall Food Courts. There is a Komala's vegetarian stall located at the basement food court of North Point Shopping Center just beside another famous Indian Banana Leaf Biryani Rice.

All along mum and aunt were curious about the taste of Dosai which we always saw a lot of customers ordering it. In short Dosai is actually a crepe made from rice and black lentils which is a typical dish in South Indian cuisine that is rich in carbohydrates and protein. Here we ordered the “Paper Masala Dosai” that is filled with mashed potato and other vegetables like onion and green peas. This is served with coconut sauce (white in colour), onion (green in colour) and sambar (a kind of vegetable stew). The Dosai itself is really paper thin which is crispy on the outside and yet moist and soft when eaten. Overall it taste ok with all the different type of dipping sauce except we find it rather a bit salty towards our taste.

记得吃 ~ Tong Shui & Snacks OK Jul 02, 2010
Categories : Singaporean | Desserts and Cakes

There are all kinds of Hong Kong style dessert stalls around Singapore and just in Chinatown area, there are about 4 or more stalls. Like in People's Park Center, located a corner of the second floor, you will find "Dessert Hut - 甜品小屋" and "Tong Shui - 糖水". Today we are going to take a look at this stall known as "Ji De Chi - 记得吃".

Upon looking at the menu, we actually wanted to try their Durian Bake Puff Roll, but we were informed that it is out of stock. So we settle for this "Mango in Sticky Rice Roll - 芒果糯米卷". We will quite disappointed with the item that is being served, from the photo you can see that the rice roll is so thick and it's kind of hard which is not as good as it look. I am not sure whether does it taste the same in all the 3 outlets or maybe in certain days, it might just taste soft and nice.....Em...maybe have to take a risk to order another time in a different outlet.

Whenever I visit any of these Dessert stalls, there are always two items that I will order, it is either Almond Paste of Mango Pomelo. And I have read from magazine review that there is something special about their "Almond Paste With black Glutinous Rice Ball - 杏仁糊加黑糯米球". Apart from the normal Almond Paste, they actually add a scoop of the Black Glutinous Rice in it to enhance the taste and fragrance.
