Everything was really bad! Cry Dec 09, 2013

I'm a stranger to Mediterranean food. The only Mediterranean food that I've tried was from Fig & Olive back in 2013 New Year. Less than a year later, I'm back to the same ground only to find that the standard has tremendously dropped.

For rather cheaply, Fig & olive is now cutting down on their prices, having promotions such as a set meal for about $9.90. However, the rice was dry and oily, and the fish tasted so cheap that I could hardly taste any fish but only the crispy bread crumbs.

The same goes for the other set meal choice, which was the mint herb chicken. It tasted really weird, I guess we are not used to the Mediterranean food!

it also took a long while before we can finally get the attention of the waiters and waitresses.

Burger queen stereotypes Cry Dec 09, 2013

I can't be a king and perhaps that's why burger king isn't my favourite fast food option.

the only thing that i love there is the onion rings, which now offers a switch from fries for free. depending on the counter crew, sometimes the portion is really small.

the burger fish n' crisp tastes weird despite its claim in having the muffin toasted. in fact, burger king's fish burger is slightly more expensive as compared to the others.
however, i love it being topped with tangy tartar sauce to accentuate the fish's flavour. the ala carte costs about $3.50, and its more savvy to get a set meal.

well, the wedges only tasted good while its hot!

Disclaimer My friends and I had to wait for 40 minutes for the food to be served, so we were rather unhappy with the service and the food was rather cold. I will try my best to be as unbiased as possible in this review. sad

Flock Cafe is probably the most overhyped cafe I've ever heard about. With reviews raving about how great the food is on the internet and through my dining companions' recommendations, we decided to flock over to Flock Cafe in expectation of good food.

A faraway view of the shopfront
It took us quite awhile to find the Cafe and got reminded of the scene in the Dreammakers, where Jeanette Aw pushed an old lady in the Channel 8 TV show at the shopfront.

A beautiful greeting before entering the shop
It was a pleasant piece of artwork and I felt like this was an art-meets-food-meets-art kind of Cafe. It was REALLY crowded, but one of the female service crew there were really helpful in helping us to find a seat, even moving the heavy chairs and all. We were really famished because it was already 2pm in the afternoon.

Opening Hours at the door
Apparently, Flock is open everyday! The hours extend longer on Friday and Saturday though, till 10pm.

Chalkboard with a summary of the menu
It wasn't very visually pleasant as I felt that there were too much words screaming for attention, but loved the simple font.

Menu on paper cardboard
Here's the menu, its' description and the prices of the item. Gone are the days where menu comes in a book, and there aren't any photos to accompany the description, thus you can either log onto instagram or Google how their dishes look like.

Merchandise Postcard
Flock sells beautifully designed postcards as well.

Polaroids of employees behind-the-scenes and popular customers
I love the display of how they actually involved their employees and making them feel like a team! It's a great way to spruce up the shop interior design as well.

An overview of the items we ordered
Here comes the crucial part. The verdict of the food after 40 hungry minutes. We were really famished, and got really angry and upset. 20 minutes into waiting, my friend actually went to ask if our food was ready (because the people who came after that got served with their food).. the waitress simply told us that they're preparing it, but honestly, I really believe that our order got MISSED OUT. No apologies though.

And..
.
.
.
after a long long long wait...

Eggs Benny ($15.90)
Raw pork. I mean, bacon. We didn't really expect that, especially the fact that my friend, who ordered this, isn't a fan of pork bacon. The bacon was perhaps cooked but not very much. It tasted cold and the poached egg broke easily, the entire dish has cooled. The rocket salad that came with it as well had a weird smell too.

Eggs Sally ($14.90)
This was my order. Being a huge fan of salmon and having experienced tasting ALL types of Poached eggs with salmon, my expectations came with standards. It was a huge disappointment because the salmon was so tiny and thinly sliced, and the eggs were really ... cold, it has cooled off, and the salmon had no smoky taste at all. In fact it tasted like raw sashimi. I probably won't come back to give them second chances anymore after the whole ordeal with my friends.

Big Breakfast ($19.90)
We thought that Big Breakfast would have some hope, but only the chicken sausage was nice. The bread was hard and the beans were cold, it probably got left there for really long. We all felt like complaining to the manager but seeing that they were so busy, we thought that they should probably hire more staff or at least have one day off.

All in all, the Cafe was not only squeezy (we had to push the tables to exit the cafe because it was so packed), the food was really a disappointment too.

$5.55 LOL Cry Jul 17, 2013

Categories : Frozen Yogurt

Sogurt works by you dispensing your own yogurt, and they weigh for you. This concept seems a little biased to me because I don't know how much the yogurt weighs and also, what if I dispensed too much and it costs a lot and I don't have enough money?

Anyway, I tried the Red Velvet Cake flavour with the Original, and added some pistachios or granola bar over it (they don't even label their toppings).

So what the two counter girls did over there was just stand at the cashier, weigh it, and ask for money. I felt that I wasn't paying for service, yet the yogurt was really expensive, and immediately I just thought of other yogurt brands... Sorryyy Sogurt, your yogurt isn't that great either. sad

The cup design is really cute though!

Bongo Bongo. Cry Jul 17, 2013

Categories : Burgers and Sandwiches

huffy

Experienced bad food and service here. I guess we don't have much options, because Bongo Burgers is the only restaurant near the Bird Park which didn't have much people.

Beautifully decorated, the restaurant replicates the Bird Park's atmosphere by having some statues of the animal.

They include yellow lighting so that it will not be so glaring, and I guess one of the effects is to open up our appetites so that we can eat more.

It's largely spacious as not many people were eating there at about 11.45am

This is the free ice-cream that they'd give if you're having your birthday on that day (and a free entry to the park)!

I ordered Fish & Chips, which is the worst that I've ever eaten. The reason why it's not nice because the flour, the crispy outer-layer is too thick and there is too little fish meat in it. The fries weren't hot, and the sauce was too bland. sad

Although the staff would serve you by sending the food to your table, the gusto that they give were kind of rude. They didn't give us utensils as well. I guess it depends on who serves you, perhaps the service crew had PMS that day. sad

Anyway it's a great place to chill out and study, but not to eat their food. I don't think I can judge the overall food quality of the restaurant because all I ate was the fish & chips.
