Chill out, take out Cry Jul 03, 2013

New World Cafe provides a beautiful scenic environment, where you can see the sunset when you look out of the window glass panes.

Taking on the style of Marche, you have to get a card (if you lose it, you have to pay $50) at the entrance, where the payment counter is.

There's a queue number.

Like any other bubble tea shop nowadays, you get to select your sugar level. I ordered Hokkaido Milk Tea and got the 20% sugar level. Mind you, it was so extremely sweet I went back to the counter crew to question if he got my order correctly, and he said apparently hokkaido milk tea is naturally sweet, so please heed my advice and order 0% because i just felt like I was drinking EXTREME SUGARED WATER... really unpleasant and sulky experience for me. sad huffy

My friend ordered peppermint milk tea, and the same goes for him in the level of sweetness, just that he ordered 50%. in the end he put water cooler water to dilute it. Oh well.

Lai Heng should focus on selling their Char quay if they weren't interested in churning out good char guay (fried carrot cake). Using the same wok, the stall owner had two woks but selected the one where he cooked his char kway teow, therefore the char gueh tasted so gooeyand wet, and there was no egg.. there's no white char quay too.

And he also didn't go by the queue number, but served whoever that was waiting there first so we had to wait very long even after we waited at our seats. sad

Durian Attempt? Cry Jul 01, 2013

mad While I must give an applause to McDonald's for their attempt to blend local culture durian into their ice-cream, it doesn't help that it costs $2.80 for a cup and that I hardly know of any marketing promotion that has been done to promote this ice-cream.
Durian McFlurry

Durian McFlurry

Looking at the contents, it seem rather delicious with all the 'cereal'-like toppings, but the durian ice-craem melted really fast and it tasted quite awkward, like some cheap brand of ice-cream and it became liquid very quickly even though i was in the air-conditioned shopping center.

i wouldn't recommend it, just go order McFlurry! smile

Lunch with your mates Cry Jun 25, 2013

Ah, I thought I should put up the promotional poster so that you can actually tell the difference between the actual product and what has formed in my mental state from looking at the poster. Anyway, i didn't end up being too disappointed, the portion is indeed as huge as it shows there, but the quality wasn't that good.

Fatty beef chunks, really dried-out bacon, Dave's Signature burger made me wonder if Dave was an unhealthy old man... after all, fast food is always linked to fats, isn't it? sad honestly, the best part of the meal was really the beef fries with melted cheese.. even thinking of it now makes me drool, i would give you my burger though!

Hidden Treasures of darkness Cry Feb 02, 2013

These are Han's special menu items...

What a small portion of meat, was my first thought. With the raw vegetables, really really raw vegetables, i don't know how to describe it.

And then suddenly there's so much potato wedges!

Look at the abundange of potato wedges. Anyway, I don't really enjoy Hans meal because of the unbalanced quantity! It's not really fresh too and their service ist errible (you've got to go collect your own food at the meal counter) and they'll always give you that kind of stare when you wait for the food AT the counter... with grumpy faces. I don't like the lightings of the restaurant as well!
