Great place to dine-in! Smile Jul 03, 2013

Take Bus B or C from NIE, and after 3 stops, alight, cross the road and you'll come to this lovely empty canteen. Most of the stalls are closed during the term break or holiday.

However, they don't compromise on their quality of the food despite having very few people.
Fish

Fish

I ordered a fish and chip cheese set, and had the liberty to change my fries to rice! *grins* the stall owner was really friendly, although it took quite awhile for them to cook. I guess they had to prepare and heat up the oil before they can deep fry the fillet, and although the cheese appear widely spread and plentiful, I could hardly taste the 'nacho cheese'. the coleslaw was delicious even though I'm not a fan of cabbage lettuce etc. smile

Lasagne

Lasagne

In celebration of my dear friend's birthday, we were roaming around Raffles City in the hopes of finding a great place to eat. The other restaurants had dragon queues (i.e: the queue were so long that they'd form the legendary dragon of Singapore), and so we were without a choice but to settle for Pizza Place, where they had two menu stands outside the restaurant. We didn't know which one would proclaim our entrance or desire to eat in the restaurant, and there weren't a single soul queuing but visibly the open-concept restaurant showed that the tables were filled. Thankfully, a waitress came over and ushered us to our seats. It was rather cramp due to the small shop space, and we were just an elbow away from the table beside us. I can't help but to openly eavesdrop their entire conversation about God and church shocked .

If you have secrets to share, don't come to Pizza place. But if you're there for great food, this is a DEFINITELY MUST-GO!
Most importantly, there is NO GST & SERVICE CHARGE. tongue They also had excellent service, because while I was ordering at the counter, I asked if there were any candles for the cake and apparently, one of the colleagues ran out to get some candles when they didn't have any! *gasps* shocked

Close-up of Lasagne

Lasagne Chicken - $12.80
Thick, melted cheesy layers above thin long strips of pasta, with tomato paste oozing out and chicken chunks filled in-between. This is something that you can't use chopstick to eat with, and it was one of the best lasagne I've ever eaten, beating the scores of Pizza Hut's and Pasta Mania's lasagne. It's not spammed with oil, thus it looks quite burnt in some parts which can be easily removed with your fork.
Truffle Fries

Truffle Fries - $7.80
Truffles are actually a type of fungus, and I have always thought it was some sort of chocolate powder. Anyway, this fragrant truffle fries is extremely addictive for its' crisp texture and saltiness with a drizzle of truffle oil. Unlike other 'french fries' which you can hardly finish or desire to gobble all of them up, Truffle Fries is ordered almost on every customer's table. I really enjoyed it, and my friend who isn't a fan of fries loved this snack as well!
Lasagne

Iced Lemon Tea - $2.80 (top left of the table, duh! tongue)
My first question to my friend was, "Wah why this ice lemon tea no lemon one?" She drank a sip and passed over to me and I got a HUGE SHOCK from the sourness in the tea. If your taste buds have a preference for lemons, go ahead and order this just like my beloved friend did!
Opera Cake

Opera Cake

Opera Cake - $5.80
The top favourite and chef's recommendation of PIzza Place would be Tiramisu, costing $8.60 but was sold out that night. So I ordered Opera Cake, which was chocolate-layered filled with a little sprinkle of coffee powder. The taste of coffee wasn't very strong, but the slightest hint did change the entire aroma of the cake. It was extremely delicious, more delicious than it looks! You definitely have to order this.

I really enjoyed the whole experience in the restaurant, we chatted until the restaurant closed and still, the waiters and waitresses didn't chase us away but we left ourselves in embarrassment of how we were the last customers left. lol

In total, I spent $29.20.

The open-concept restaurant in Jurong Point's din tai fung is extremely inviting, it also manages both its' takeaway order and dine-in orders pretty well with a call queue number to avoid discontentment!

It was a relatively long queue (i had to wait 15 minutes) despite eating at 2pm.
Fried Rice

Fried Rice

We ordered a plate of fried rice ($9), and for $1 each you will be served a free-flow cup of chinese tea. although the fried rice seem rather plain, the rice is extremely flavourful and surely they use good-grade sort of rice.
Duck

Duck

we also ordered beef slices ($6.80) which appeared quite fatty but we can't really taste the fats... it's quite thinly sliced though, and i wish they had more in quantity.
Xiao Long Bao

Xiao Long Bao

Xiao Long bao in din tai fung is seriously the best in Singapore and it costs $9.50 for 10 pieces.. i think its' quite expensive, hopefully they will not raise the price any further. anyway i really love the staff workers there as the kitchen is open for all to see and they really are extremely hygienic, covering their hair and masking themselves up as well (not because of the haze caused by our neighbourly indonesia), but they really do ensure and take pride in producing quality and delicious food!

Looks so delicious isn't it! :'D

This is the total cost of what we spent, and i suggest that they should have some sort of english translation as well because there was a caucasian couple after us and they tried their best to use chopsticks during their meal, can you imagine how clueless they would be when they see the receipt? smile

Awesome food for giant eaters Smile Feb 04, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

BEWARE all you petite fellow Singaporeans and tourists seeking for Japanese food! Watami offers giant portions thus if you're a small eater like me, sharing is caring (and saving money)

Apparently, they offer a 150g portion of chicken katsu. I have no idea why they put the grams over there, it's not like as if we have a weighing machine to check if it's really 150g! AND GUESS WHAT? It costs $11.80! There is no rice provided, so you have to order an additional bowl of rice for $1.40.

So yes, it's put in a hot claypot with lots of eggs and sauce.. delicious stuff which melts in your mouth!

An overview of how the chicken looks like, anyway my two friends shared among themselves and it was sufficient (for the rest of us to try tasting it as well).

There's also a "watami ramen" branded by their very own restaurant signature, costing $12.80. A clear soup base with flavours that I cannot make up of, and it was also a very huge portion of noodles.

I ordered a plate of Beef Pepper rice and thought it was really delicious! My friends said that it's similar to Pepper Lunch but I beg to differ, because the rice are so much more Japanese-like, and the beef is so much more fresher.

The beef pepper rice costs $9.80, and although in comparison to pepper lunch it's slightly more expensive (without the drinks and all), but at least we don't reek of beefy smell after leaving the restaurant!

Please don't try the Matcha tiramisu if you don't like cheese, i'm quite surprised that they'd put in cheese rather than coffee.. and apparently green tea and cheese don't really go well together, we got quite sick of it. It's only $4.80, quite affordable!

We also ordered a Matcha Parfait, topped with all sorts of fruits like longan and stuff, this is really a must-try dessert because there are layers of cream, chocolate, green tea and almost everything I could find. It costs $6.80 and you can share it among 4 people!

I also like to particularly point out a very good waiter named Sunny, He's very warm in taking our orders and my friends and I saw him going down on one knee at the customer's level just to take their orders. He's always cheerful and smiling and is willing to go the extra mile to serve his customers. He also helps to clear plates and all, whereas his colleague, a lady with long curly hair, always stood at the counter pretending to check orders... there will be a feedback form in the end for you to voluntarily fill up!

Nana Curry Smile Feb 02, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Coffeeshop | Curries

This shop specializes in CURRY, home-made curry, and it's really super delicious! You can order all sorts of curry in all kinds of meat - chicken, pork, fish~
[VDO:4]

My parents and I ordered the fish-head curry around evening and it came in a piping hot clay pot!

It was really delicious with an abundance of fish~

The portion of rice was really huge too, i guess it's because it was evening and the place is not very accessible (about 10 mins walk from MRT). since it's a small estate so i don't think they have a lot of customers even though they've got really good curry!

the uncle and auntie store-holder is really friendly as well smile
