Pricey pies, pricey coffee. Cry Jan 31, 2014

If you are looking for a place with great ambience, Pies & Coffee is the place to go. They are really strict with the no outside food and drinks policy.. i had an empty cup of drink from Texas Chicken hoping to find a bin to recycle, and got a stern warning from the cafe crew there as they clear the tables.

i guess it's just the ambience that you will be going for if you ever visit pies and coffee. the waterfall is a great touch to helping you feel relaxed.

Caffe Latte (10 oz) - SGD5.42
Honestly, I don't know why they priced it so strangely. anyway their latte art was really weird too, but the fragrant of the coffee was strong. i felt it was too bitter and needed a lot of sugar.. the temperature of the coffee was not hot at all, so i think perhaps there is something wrong with their coffee machine and the hot liquid may not be able to thoroughly press the coffee bean enough.

New York Cheese Cake - SGD6.45
i really question why the new york cheese cake was so expensive. i thought it would taste better than any other new york cheese cake but it felt like it was there for several days. it wasn't fresh and even the way the cake was placed (with the sauces on the side) look frightening. it turns out the sauce was some strawberry sauce but doesn't it look like CHILLI?!!

i wouldn't visit the cafe ever again, i don't think it's worth it! they don't have service charge but it is so expensive (you have to order from the counter and also pick up from the counter, really troublesome).

Spending per head: Approximately $8(Tea)

authentic taiwanese cuisine Smile Jan 31, 2014

As of yet, the closest restaurant that taste exactly like taiwanese food goes to Xi Men Jie. Whenever I crave for the food in Taiwan, I would head to Star Vista for their delicacy.

Oyster Chicken Floss Mee Sua- SGD4.40

The noodles are very fine and I love how the flavour comes off after soaking in the gooey oyster sauce. It is a mouth loaded with freshness and stickiness.. having both saltiness and sweetness at the same time.

Chicken Cutlet Curry - SGD6.50. Add SGD1.20 for a set (comes with a drink).

The chicken is crispy and evenly flavoured with spiciness.. and the curry sauce was piping hot. The noodles was really soft that it can be cut quite easily, hence you don't have to fear making a mess out of your food!

Look at how delicious the noodles is! They definitely got a very good supplier for their food and the chef is a really good cook too! however, there were too little seats in the restaurant and i think it is really overpriced.. i guess they have to pay the lofty rental fees sad

Sebastian is a real guy OK Jan 31, 2014

Categories : Fusion | Coffeeshop

We were attracted by this colourful banner and the logo of a chef wearing spectacles.. only to realise that there is a live form of this logo walking around! Intrigued by their funny sense of humour, my friend and I decided to try this outlet.

Japanese Curry Chicken Rice - SGD4.80
My friend ordered this and I tried a little bit of his.. it was chunky and fresh, almost tasted like the one that I ate from Japanese restaurants. However, this store sells a fusion of different types of cuisine, hence it was quite strange that they didn't use japanese rice when the chicken was done in a japanese way!

Blackened Cajun Chicken with Salsa Rice -SGD5.80

i was really upset that i have been deceived. apparently the salsa referred to mango salsa, and i am not a fan of mangoes. it tasted like it was from the can, the syrup was sweet and i felt it was really weird to accompany the rice.. in fact, mango chicken wasn't to my liking. this may be bias because like i said, i don't really like mangoes!

If i were to recommend you what to choose, i would say go with the japanese curry chicken rice! smile the service was average.. not too fast but not so slow either!

Pizza Pazza at Anchorpoint OK Jan 31, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Food Court | Pasta

We ordered a plate of Carbonara pasta for SGD8.00 to be shared among two people. It wasn't a very huge portion despite the huge plate and higher pricing..

The pasta was really delicious and the sauce was creamy and rich! I love how they didn't dilute their carbonara.. strangely enough, it didn't make me feel sick of it unlike the carbonara sauce in pasta mania.

there's many other food items sold in pizza pazza as well and the service is really slow. the guy said it only takes 1 minute to do the pasta as my friend and i was in a rush. but he took more than 10 minutes!! there's a queue number.. and regardless of what time you go, it seem silk ether are always busy.

i love the spacious restaurant though. it has a lot of empty seats, perhaps for the office workers during lunchtime hours!

$5 noodles??! OK Jan 31, 2014
Categories : Teochew | Food Court | Noodles

This coffeeshop is tucked away from major shopping malls like JEM, J Cube and Westgate. However, their prices are jacked p as well.

For SGD5.00, you'll get a bowl of steaming piping hot bowl of pork rib Teochew noodles. it comes with chilli as a standard at the base of the bowl, so do mix it well. if you can't take spiciness, then remember to notify and emphasise that you can't take chilli to the hawker!

the pork rib was fresh and gooey with the sauce.. the noodles were easy to eat and was really bouncy. it was a perfect match, but i am not too sure if it was worth $5. however, many people begged to differ because there was a long queue in this hawker.

it was delicious, but i don't think the price is reasonable for the atmosphere!
