Lunch at Kim Gary OK Oct 19, 2011
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

Kim Gary is a Hong Kong style restaurant. It's more like a Hong Kong fast food chain stall to me actually.

Surprisingly their pork chop lunch set was quite good. Pork chop was well marinated and taste good. Crispy on the outside yet not too oily! Also the rice portion given is just right and goes along well with the pork chop instead of fries.

The lunch set is selling at S$8.90 also comes with borsh soup and a hot drink of your choice. Hence i have ordered the silky smooth "yuan yan" teh.

All in all i would say it's a good lunch and value for money!

Dinner alone OK Oct 04, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Seafood | Zi Char

Having dinner alone today so i just went to Yi Jia restaurant opposite my office after work. As usual it's packed and all the tables are filled even on weekdays! Waited for more than half an hour for my Kuay Teow with lotsa gravvy a.k.a " Wa Tan Hor Fun.

It's a bit disappointing for today's order though. Kuay Teow was not smooth and fragrant. I suppose they didn't use the pork lard or a lot of oil when cooking this dish. It's healthy but not nice to eat though. Generous serving of vegetables and pork meat. Gravvy is not too bad. All in all the only setback is the kuay teow! i hope it will be nicer next round!

Birthday celebration for Boss! OK Oct 04, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Halal

We had a surprise birthday celebration for our boss! Lunch in in the office by ordering food from Deli Hub.

Deli hub Catering is a halal caterer so it suits us as we have malay staffs. They have promotion for set menus during weekdays for example the Mini buffet that we ordered was only S$12.88 per person instead of S$13.88 per person for a selection of 8 dishes!

Thai pineapple fried rice is quite tasty. Rice not too soggy and quite fragrant. Steam Har Kau is good too. Filling is generous and fresh. Rendang chicken is so so to me though. It's not spicy and don't have a lot of potatoes! sad Deli Chap Chye is among one of the best dishes ordered! No wonder it's the first dish to be finished! Healthy and crunchy! Sotong Yu Tiao and butter prawn was ok and not fantastic though. It's a bit wet and soggy perhaps it's not served hot.

We also ordered some side dishes like mutton satay. Well this is to my dismay...meat is too hard and strong smell.

The mini cream puff is my favourite though. Sweetness is just nice that i had to take 2 servings smile

They do provide free disposable cutlery sets & sauces. However the food is delivered in disposable microwavable container, so it's best to be consumed as soon as the food arrived!

Hand made curry puffs OK Sep 18, 2011
Categories : Bakery

This is sardine curry puff from pie connection. As their signboard suggested, it's indeed freshly traditionally made curry puffs. The sardine chunks according to the seller is fried with onions and chilli padi which give it a very spicy stinge. Also the puff is stuffed not only with sardine chunks but with potatoes n egg too. Filling is fresh however i think the puff skin is not crispy enough.

They are having promotion whereby if you buy 5 curry puffs, they will give you one free.

The seller is quite friendly and will definitely come back to try other puffs!

Pandan cake from Tina Sim OK Sep 18, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Bakery | Hawker Centre

This stall is a home made pastry specialists and sells not only cakes but also donuts, pudding, rainbow dessert and others

For cake rolls they have a wide choice like fresh durian, fresh mango, fresh strawberry, blueberry, mixed berries, orea chocolate, apple cinnamon, banana chocolate, pandan fudge and chocolate fudge all priced at S$7.50 per roll.

Tried their pandan fudge cake roll today. The pandan filling in between the cake in my opinion doesn't taste as good as the pandan roll from Rich and Good. Perhaps it's not as fresh. Sweetness level is just nice for me. Will try their other cakes and pastry next time!

They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
