waffles!  Smile Jun 25, 2013

Categories : Bakery | Halal

I was JEM and after my dinner i still feel hungry so I ordered waffles from Prima! I ordered the kaya one at $1.60 each and prima deli was known as one of the best waffles in Singapore. I really like the taste of this waffles, it is so crispy and nice, especially when it was served hot. On top of that, I liked the Kaya fillings in it, they are really generous with the kaya spread on my waffles! smile The queue at JEM was amazingly short, you don't have to wait for 20-30mintues before you are get your waffles. The estimated queuing time was 5 minutes! smile

The birth of new life Smile Jun 18, 2013

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

In Chinese traditional, when it comes a baby full month (the first month of his or her birth), their parents will call for a celebration. Some choose to organise party, buffet and some choose to delivery cake from house to house. Well, in the new 21st century, Bengawan solo had came out with this full month vouchers for the parents to buy it and delivery to family and friends. I personally feel that buying voucher is a good idea because i save the energy to carry it around and also the person will only redeem the cake when they want it, if not they can pass it to other people. I received one a few days ago and i went to redeem it today, the cake was so awesome.
Bengawan solo had never failed to give the best cake ever. The cake i redeemed was a walnut cake, it is so spongy and soft, that every bite will make some small little pieces to fall on the floor. The softness of the cake can last for days which makes tasted like fresh baked. The walnut is the best part out of all which helps to add in some crunchiness to the soft cake and make it awesome! smile The aroma of the cake was so strong that it can be smell from a distance- the light vanilla smell. The appearance was not very nice as there is no decoration on it nor the colour looks attractive.

However, i think the packaging of the cakes should be improved. If i left it on the table, there were be ants crawling on it the next day. So i think it is better to have some fully seal zip-log bag of what to prevent ants from entering.

60 cents soya bean where to find? Smile Jun 15, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre

I think that is the cheapest soya drink in the present Singapore! It only costs 60 cents per cup! The aunty is really nice, we were at a table (short distance away from her shop), she walked to us and asked what we wanted to drink, i ordered soya bean and my friend ordered water chestnut which is also 60 Cents! smile Initially i am still thinking that cheap stuff won't be good, but i am wrong. She only added 2-3 ice cubes to our cups and didn't not add a lot of syrup! However, surprisingly it was sweet! smile I don't know the aunty made it sweet without adding a lot syrup, but definitely for the price of 60cents this is really worth and with the very friendly services provided by the aunty. I did not ask for the comments from my friend about her water chestnut drink but i guess it was good as she ordered another cup of it! smile I will definitely drink it if i get a chance to come back here again.

Sumo salad Smile May 31, 2013

Categories : Australian / New Zealand | Salads/ Acai Bowl

I accompanied my friend to somerset313 just to buy this sumo salad. I had never i try it before, but out of my curiosity, i decided to buy it myself and it out. the fun part of it was that you can mix and match the salad ingredients according to what you want and what you like.

But omg when i was making payment i almost fainted. $9.30 for one tube of salad or rather vegetable! In my opinion it was too expensive! But it was finally worth trying. The taste was unique as it was a mixture of different kind of ingredients that you could not imagine that they were go well together.

The vegetable in my were washed clean, there is no sandy feel while eating. The chicken was slightly too hard to bite and one thing I liked is they used chicken breast which contained very little fats. Now i can eat all i want without worrying that i will get fat. The chicken goes well with almost all the sauces and i also ordered pasta as one of my mixed. I didn't really like it as it was cold. But still acceptable to my palette.

I hope there would be a new store located somewhere in Jurong so that it is more convenient for us to access.

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre | Bak Kut Teh

Went to Jalan Kukoh for dinner and was so surprise that there was not much stall open and seems that we had limited choice. so i decided to try the Wu Ji Bak Kut Teh. I ordered the sesame chicken cause i feel like having something strong in taste! This is so awesome, taste like mum's homecooked food. The chicken is very tender and the ginger was sliced into very thin and fine pieces! smile The sesame was thick and it was very expensive; $4 and come with the rice! smile
